You have to appreciate people like Glenn Danzig who are so unapologetic about who they are and unwilling to compromise themselves through their art. For better or worse. Danzig is an icon and a figure in his own moment in time.
True Punk ethos.
Danzig’s so underrated. Yeah he gets made fun of a lot (most of it by his die hard fans) but he’s gonna be one of those guys everyone bandwagons AFTER he’s gone. Man’s a living legend and he deserves the respect. 🤘🏼
"fuck yeah i know who johnny cash is" is the correct answer.
Danzig is a very underrated songwriter.
Incredibly. Def one of the greatest lyricist I can think of.
100%
I’ve always thought the same. He wrote all of Misfits, Samhain and Danzig material himself. Obviously, if you’re asked to write songs for Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison, you’re doing something right.
Smiling like a child opening his Christmas presents, that's really cool to see, and to hear the stories behind those moments.
We really need a Glenn documentary chronicling his entire career.. Don't see it happening, but one can dream!..
I love it when Glenn is open like this. That smile gets me every time.
+Amy Jo I am right there with you. To me, he actually seems younger in this interview than the majority of ones that I've seen in the past five years or so, if that makes sense. He just seems so giddy. It just goes to show how much he loves music and respects musicians... The good ones anyway. Ha ha!
Amy Jo he needs hugs
Has always seemed to have anger issue. Nice to see him smile. So talented.
HAMMER
Its a natural tint. It gets a bit deeper as you age I believe. He has a nice smile nonetheless.
Agreed. He smiles a lot nowadays. It’s great.
I love how his face lot up when he recalled the phone call from Johnny Cash and his friends. Priceless!
+Elizabeth B SoCal The best was when he gushed and looked down when they asked him what it was like to hear Cash sing a song you wrote for him. Heh
That a honor that Johnny Cash called
Nice to see a humble Glenn Danzig.
It's such a wonderful feeling hearing someone you look up to talk about the people they look up to. Seeing them light up gives you a bright feeling of your own.
Shame he hates his fans.
@@surfactantivist8461 He doesnt Hate US homie..He just has zero tolerance for particular men and woman who watch his gigs thru a cell phone or a camera! These artist give us there all!!The internet, free trading sites & posting vids of gigs without permission is destroying the the industry! These performers give Us these badass tunes to live our daily lives too!He wants us to experiance the music not record it!Hes old school..He loves his fans but he loves his Craft 1st..🎶🎶He set his Boundaries! WE need to RESPECT them..Its not that he dont like US?He is just a VERY Private Person with a very short fuse..I can RESPECT that..😊👍✌
@@SPGRAMPA1 how about the fan that went up to him and told him BEFORE the show “have a great show man” Danzig- turns back around ignores him and continues talking to somebody else.
@@SPGRAMPA1 Dude hes fucking racist I bet you dont know the bricks story
@@surfactantivist8461 LOL
This is the happiest and most personable that I've ever seen Glenn be in an interview.
Glenn is one cool dude, I only discovered about him 2019,wasn't really into the internet, big regret.
One of the best songwriters EVER!
Thats how you know it was a huge fan of them because the way he speak is so pure whitout a mask, cool interview
This is probably my favorite Danzig interview of all time.
Yeah, I wish it was longer.
Cool seeing Glenn get the same way about artists the same we get about him.
Glenn is a legend! Best concert I've ever been to was a Danzig show!
Yes he is! Only saw him once. How The Gods Kill Tour in 92 Knoxville . No opening act, just Danzig for 2 hours. They even hung out in the parking lot for an hour afterwards. Total class act !
He does put on a hell of a show
I have seen them several times. The first time was korn, Marilyn Manson and Danzig. Way back in 1995 it was one of the best and craziest shows that I have been to
Roy Orbison had the best voice I've ever heard, still to this very day.
oof
Oof what? What's oof? An insult... a term of disagreement? Some of the greatest singers to ever sing also say and have said that Roy had the best voice/vocals.@@shoechew
Jeez...dare I say Glenn sounds....pleasant?
I cried when he started to talk about Roy Orbison. That man rocked my entire life. He had an amazing tenor voice. Amazing. What a talent Glenn is as well..
I would have loved to be in the room hearing Danzig singing harmony with Cash and Orbison🤯🤯🤯
I wish i could hang out with Glenn more than ever these days. I think there would be a peace. I now understand when he says he hates everyone
I adore Glenn. Look at that smile!
I love how he appreciates Elvis and Johnny Cash and is so loving about it.
how cool is it to get a glimpse of the real person behind so many songs.
I think there are too many shallow types who think a stage persona is all there is to a person.
He’s being humble here…his voice absolutely fills rooms as well.
Glenn Danzig is by far one of the best Artist I have ever listen to and puts on one of the best shows for punk rock horror music!!!
Great interview from Glenn ..He's seems more expressive and open not stressed out or ect.Nice to see him calm an Happy ..Way to go Glenn Danzig. ! :)
Huge fan of Danzig ... He's actually a pretty cool person.
Glenn Danzig, the last true rock 'n' roll star. Great singer, great stories, great smile, great man.
The last true Rock n Roll star? When there are still plenty of greats before, during, and after him who still play?
Happy as hell you dicided to go back on tour goodluck and can't wait to start hearing more about you I'm 24 and literally about no one my age younger and probably up to like 40 havnt heard of you glad your coming back
If you've ever heard a song like The Misfits - American Nightmare or Danzig - Sistinas its no surprise that Danzig would've worked with Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. This just further cements Glenn's status as a music legend.
I wonder how Glenn's voice mixed in with Cash and Roy Orbison. Must have sounded great. Also I wonder if Cash or Orbison complimented Glenn on sounding like Elvis or Jim Morrison. It's mind blowing for me.
Hes giddy star struck totally into them and humble. I love his sniles and laughs
Good to see the man smile.
This puts you at NOTCH ONE mr Danzig. 👍🏼
Glen Danzig is full of mystery and that smile is infectious ♡
I love his personality, despite how well he's done as an artist and the things he's achieved, he maintains the utmost respect and admiration for others before him. He was a fan before he was an artist and you can see that in his words about Cash and Orbison. Keep it up Danzig.
life fades away and 13 are two amazing songs...he doesn’t get the credit he deserves
I still get goosebumps hearing Johnny Cash play 13. Awrsome song and John's voice with Glenn's thoughts and it's awesome
Different side of Mr Danzig I have never seen before, Its like the the Danzing image was put on hold for this interview to just talk about music as a musician, love the part about a guitar is meant to be played, not just looked at.
Chris Robertson I got to meet him after a show during the Danzig 4 tour. He was super cool. I asked him if he was working on any new music. He was happy to tell me about a couple things he was doing and I could tell he was very enthusiastic about making music. The image is definitely secondary.
Sometimes people get too famous or too well- known they have to put certain defenses up. Especially if everyone knows you're a really nice person. Because people, fans and paparazzi alike, will take advantage of that. You'd be surprised how many "stars" that have come off as jerks, bitches, or assholes a lot are really sweet, cool, generous, and good friends to have if you ever got the chance to meet them or know them outside of their fame.
Glenn’s been light hearted in plenty of interviews,I think it just shows more these days cause he’s matured a little.
As Glenn ages, he has become so much more. So cool.
Love seeing him smile and laugh. Great interview.
Is it just me or is Glenn like mellowed out?
I remember him being cool when he was younger, then he came off as kind of a prick. Looks like he got himself back. It's a good thing.
Not mellowed - just scared.
@@surfactantivist8461 scared of what? Lol
@@archange1717: Being beaten up for the 50th time.
Surfact Antivist He was never beaten up.
Any type of artist is more appreciated when they are not practicing completely or are dead... You don't know what you had until it's gone cliche... he is underrated but will hopefully have his day sooner than later!
Glenn is the man. From the Misfits thru Danzig and everything in between. To work with and write songs for some of the most legendary musicians....what a career.
Love him or hate him.... Glenn is a true original.
Brett D I just hate when someone brings up when that punk knocked him down plus saying he got k'od no he got back up and that coward took off Danzig is the man
@@chrislaney7273 that guy was an idiot who burned his own house down. Literally. Made his family homeless.
such of soft spoken guy to be a beast on vocals
During a visit to Rolling Stone, Danzig recalled how Elvis Presley influenced him and how, coincidentally, he went on to write songs for the King's onetime Sun Records label-mates Johnny Cash ("Thirteen") and Roy Orbison ("Life Fades Away").
Great songs
I don't think I have ever seen Glenn smile as much as he did in this interview. A nice change.
jonny cash is very cool
***** nah. And if true, Roy Orbison would have only been 19 when Glenn was born lol
***** Yeah that's true. Sigourney Weaver is his sister and Magic Johnson is his grandma too you fucking moron.
This Man is my ❤his smile is just exquisite 😊
Glenn Danzig is love, Glenn Danzig is life! 🖤
It's weird seeing him this... this.. happy...
Nice to see Glenn smiling and laughing.
What an honor to write songs for such legends. And good songs, at that.
Love Glenn... Every time I hear the voice of Johnny Cash I get goosebumps.
Jesus, he is the complete opposite of what I thought he would be.. polite , smiling like a child telling stories... new found respect for him..
Well we can't forget the fight videos. There's more than one.
@@ColtraneTaylor LOL
Met him twice. A gracious host.
Makes sense that elvis is what made him want to be in a band. I always describe misfits era danzigs voice as the punk elvis.
Yes, especially the song “American Nightmare” and there’s also a Misfits 1978 live cover of “Blue Christmas” at Max’s Kansas City.
that just was amazing. Glenn, what a thrill man.. Roy and Cash.. tip of the hat to your accomplishments with those legends!!
How Glenn Is very opened about Cash and Orbison He IS a musician along with lyrics He does a very good job.
He want the audience to find out for themselves what his lyrics brings to them. He rather dove into the lryics rather than scratch upon the surface upon other ppl. Very humble person compared to what other ppl say
Glenn is so charismatic 🔥
He is so humble
Danzig is the fucking man! Never knew he wrote that Cash song!!
Blues/punk/rock/metal/classical/industrial Danzig does it all.
I had no idea. Always loved Glenn, but this just made my. Day. Rip Johnny.
I love him so much. Amazing talent😍😍😍😍
I've been waiting 35 years for this.
I love his giddy Glenn gets 🖤
Hell ya that's so Fuckn cool what a honor Glen is one theme BEST songwriters of all time

🤮🤮🤮
What a cool interview! Love hearing that stuff about Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash.
I love this interview, would love to see him just talk like this, he is so interesting, and real I love him and his music.
It's really fun to see someone like Glenn who's known for his enormous ego being giddy about working with great artists.
This is the dopest most kickass interview of all time
He always gets such a bad rap seem like a straight up cool guy and of course we are huge fans and he has had a huge influence on us
The first time Glenn has ever blushed. He’s a Cash fanboy! 🤘🏼Fuck yeah Glenn.
Legend
Seems like a cool guy
GLENN
My teacher and my inspiration
this is a great interview
He definitely had his guard up from the late 80s and through the entire 90s and until 2010 for various reasons. He has mellowed out some. The Misfits reunion payout might calm anybody down.
wow I had idea he chilled with Roy O. I dig all 3 of these rockers
Glenn is eternal....
Love it!
Glenn wrote Life fades away and sang You and me.. Less than zero During Samhain. He had a great voice!🤘
When Glenn Danzig says somebody else has a big voice...
Lovely!
Glens a multifaceted music star
"Thirteen" was always one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs AND Danzig covers lol.. but today I realize it's not a cover!
Interesting information.
Such a cool dude.
Johnny Cash voice is wonderful Glenn it too
Very cool interview... finally RS did something cool hehe..
He's been wearing the same outfit everyday since the eighties... 😂
Oh his smile... I love it.

That was a cool video.
“Guitars are meant for playing.”👍
yeah you can really hear the Elvis influence whenever Glenn sings
Glenn is the real deal
For some odd reason this video came up in my suggestion today... it’s Christmas Day 2020. Never seen it before today but I couldn’t have asked for a better gift. Thank you UA-cam suggestions algorithm... just pull your head outta your ass and show me videos soon after they’re released and not five year later.
His dad sure had a great taste, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash.
30,000 back then Is 70,000 today wow
Comment 101. I know exactly what he means when he said about hearing those guys sing in person. Haters, hate away but we saw Michale Graves of the Misfits do a private show at our house and I'd seen him live several times but when he began to sing his first song his voice sounded SO big. It just filled the whole first floor and it was like you could feel it in your chest it was so loud and full. If you witness a truly great vocalist performing in person like that you'll know exactly what I mean and what Glenn was saying about Johnny and Roy. And I'm not comparing any one of these guys to each other before anybody freaks out, lol.
