Sheep Shearing Coffee Table | S15 E2 *

- How about a coffee table that once served as a portable platform to shear the wool from sheep? We're not sure how well it worked at that task, but Norm reinvents it as a handsome platform for books, plants, puzzles, canapes, and all the other things that clutter today's coffee tables. This is definitely a conversation piece. Made of recycled pine, this unusual table is easy to make and comes with a good story.
This was a lost episode not seen since it aired on TV

For those of you following the program in the original broadcast order, the Deluxe Router Station (episode 1 of season 15) was posted when we first launched the channel. You can view it here: ua-cam.com/video/UaDv7bzOM94/v-deo.html
I love that episode!
Your missing the wheel though however that's a nice table!
I purchased all the plans for my future shop save for the Garage Workshop. The other projects I purchased are in a different binder.
In the Season 8 Episode 13, Norm builds version number 1 of the router station.
"How do you take your coffee?"
"Sugar, cream and lanolin"
I'm going to guess that the table was to hold the fleece after shearing, not to hold the sheep during shearing.
I feel like bending over all day shearing is a no go. Put the animals up where you can get at them
Sheep sheaing what...?
Only table i can think of is a woolboxer..
Yeah. Never sheared on a table. This probably an eu thing or some farmer thing.
Weve been shearing similar to the way we do now for a long long time
Coffee table! A beautiful table, made from reclaimed pine, that were seeing here, live!
The only way I Ahearn is with a table pretty much like this one. I have a bad back and I built the table 35 years ago and it's still got a other 35 years left In it . I shear between 350 to 400 sheep per year.
@Navy1977 the original intended use was exactly was this table is for. Sheep shearing!
Before we use any power tools, let’s talk about shop safety. Be sure to read, understand, and follow all the safety rules that come with your power tools. Knowing how to use your power tools properly will greatly reduce the risk of personal injury. And remember this: There is no more important safety rule, than to wear these, safety glasses.
Hmm, even those square cut nails can really chip off a few teeth on a table saw blade, and a dado head, which I've heard in part 1 of Table Saw 101, are very expensive for you, Norm, huh?
You did catch the part where he used a metal detector to make sure all the old nails and such were removed, right?
From what I can see I think Norm only uses Freud saw blades. Excellent blades but you are correct. They aren’t cheap.
@@Ed_in_Mdhe has used blades from a variety of manufacturers. Ive seen a Forrest blade on his tablesaw, even that variable spaced tooth blade that Porter Cable had for a short while. Im sure Delta even sent blades for him to use. But I do see that Freud red pretty frequently
@@gregvolland9697 I have that weird P-C combination blade too, got it from my Dad.
@@mrpiccolo23 wasnt it called the razor or something? it was very interesting looking.
