Love this movie. Absolute favourite and dangerous to dip into near bedtime. Just realized there's no narrator - no passive or neutral character. They all have a story.
That's funny how they both ended up in Harry Potter! The girl with the glasses was Bubble on AbFab, and the dad was the bartender in The Crying Game. I love Life Is Sweet, really recommend it if you haven't seen the whole thing.
Lupin and his chocolate.
I'll never see Lupin the same.

OMG it was like the cameras had been set up in my own family living room back in the 80s. So relatable and bittersweet.
Mike Leigh’s dialogue is on another level. It’s so witty and natural.
He’s a genius at dialogue
Superb!
The actors help with creating the dialogue before they begin filming. It’s a collaborative effort.
@@Fififogone yes I know.
@@briandelaney9710 Errr....no he isn't. The dialogue is entirelt improvised by the actors. He does not sit and write any of it.
One of my favourite films of all time x
One of the best movies ever! Jane Horrocks rules!
Everybody is so good in this.
Completely Agree
Yes, Jim Broadbent, ..one of this generation all time best.
I'd forgotten about this film but I don't know how as its a classic British movie. They don't come any better!

You forgot professor Slughorn
The girl with short hair is the mum from outnumbered
And Slughorn
And Myrtle
The ending scene in this is beautiful!👌
Claire Skinner from Outnumbered!
The comments on here justify this being one of my favourite films. The pathos of a working class family trying their best, despite the malevalence
OMG ITS SLUGHORN 1:09 AND WORMTAIL 2:33 AND LUPINS in this movie omg
@Moonshine Subliminals IT IS!
I'm sharing a secret: the Teletubbies are in it, too, you just have to find them.
Is is that lupin, petigrue, and mertle
and slughorn
Petigrew, myrtle and slughorn too
Moaning Myrtle? That was Shirley Henderson not Jane Horrocks?
*LUPIN AND HIS CHOCOLATE🥺😭💔*
Ya'll is that the one and only Pam Shipman?
Jane Horrocks is GORGEOUS in this
Nicely cut together.
why does an oboe melody seem to fit
an English film?
Isn't it a clarinet?
@@elenasmelena6105 Yep. Clarinet. :-)
(Although to be fair, the oboe briefly takes over at around 0:50 and at the very end.)
@@lc1715 thanks.. i did not know.. but no one answered the question...funny how a clarinet or oboe fits in a British film!
“How many tips did ya score ???”
James Acaster let himself go
“Those sandwiches stink !!!!”
Theobromomaniac.
