    We tested both trucks and the driving experience in the Cadillac we felt was just enough of an improvement that we opted for the caddy.

    The great thing is that the price difference pretty much disappears if you're willing to go with a used model. I was just looking at 2015 models on Autotrader and found a Yukon XL Denali for $42k and a Caddy Escalade ESV for $43900 -- both with about the same mileage. For 1900 bucks I think I would have to go with the Caddy.

      Same 2018 XL And Caddy ESV, the same package, TV and All. Caddy is actually 1k less.

      Same experience for me just bought a 2016 ESV 4x4 Premium Luxury for the same price as a Denali with less features and truck like ride.

    Great review! I'm on my fifth Cadillac Escalade, looking to purchase my sixth one later this year. The deals will be there on the '19's once the 2020 next generation is revealed.

    Cadillac is a great truck but I can't justify the extra 20K so the win goes to the Denali especially if it has a Corsa exhaust 🔨

      The optional mag-lev suspension on the Premium Luxury and Platinum Escalade makes all the difference in the world, plus the more comfortable seats is worth it. Also the Blu-ray and three screens. I’m sure that Escalade he test drove was a lower end model as it did not have the folding side step or the mag-lev suspension. It didn’t have the massaging seats or the Sumi Black Tamo Ash Exotic wood grain accents because it want a Platinum model. Also Used Escalades are the best value.

    That's the base model Cadillac so it's about the same as your Denali it's not a premium or platinum

    I prefer the Escalade, so much so, that I have two.... 2010 and 2017 ESV. The Escalade dash is leaps and bounds nicer, the full LCD gauges look better, the heads up display, 360 cam, better interior with leather on EVERY surface just about make it nicer to me. LED headlights are a plus also. And you didn't mention that the rear view mirror turns to a screen with a flip of the switch.

    • @jalofanclub
      @jalofanclub 4 роки тому

      Yeah he was driving a low end Escalade. Not the same as the Platinum or the Premium Lixury.

  • @jalofanclub
    @jalofanclub 4 роки тому

    A Used off lease Escalade is the best value for large SUV’s. If you like the darker, more contemporary, Sumi Black Tamo Ash wood grain, and the massaging seats look for a Platinum trim level Escalade, but expect to pay about 10k more.
    The Premium Luxury trim level with the mag-lev suspension, folding side steps and safe driving features is easily the best value. I paid $47k for my low mileage Premium Luxury off lease Escalade and I love it. I drove the Denali and it rode like a truck compared to my Escalade.
    Plus the Escalade’s completely re-worked interior makes it feel special compare to the Denali and the higher end models have a user configurable digital dash and gauges that are well worth the upgrade.
    High end Escalade gets my vote every time!

    As much as I would love the Cadillac, I would have to go with the Denali or a Suburban Mainly for reliably. I definitely need to volunteer for work in Canada

      Dan Soderholm denali and Escalade are built on the same weak 1500D chassis by GM and the suburban is on the heavier duty reinforced 3500D frame.

      it's not a cost more, just the exchange rate between canadian and american money. $100,000 U.S. is equal to $122,000 Canadian.

    Seems to me that car reviews are getting to be more about the gadgets than the mechanics, handling, and reliability of the core vehicle. How does it handle? How good is it in 4wd mode? How does it handle bad dirt roads?? How does it handle hills? How does it handle icy roads? How does it brake? etc etc.
    To go on and on about the dash design, cameras, touch screen, etc is ridiculous. I love those things too, but they are just nice to have. And, after a few weeks, I forget about them.
    For me, one of the big hits against Escalade vs Navigator, is Navigator's folding seats are much better and easier. That kind of functionality is important to me.
    One more thing, Tahoe's always come with weak belly leather on the driver's seat outside quarter panel. They begin to rip after about 6 years. ( Go to any used Tahoe lot, you will see.) That is a major reason why I will soon be buying a Navigator.

    Former owner of a Yukon XL and currently drive the Escalade ESV.( 2011)....hands down would go back to the Yukon! Caddy is an overpriced princess honestly. Drivers seat in caddy is far less comfy than my Yukon , if I hit the ditch ( also in AB) my Yukon would get me out , however I have zero confidence in the caddy getting out of a ditch. If we spend that much on another vehicle it will either be Navigator or go back to Yukon. We've had our Caddy for 6 years now and I can't wait till we get rid of it.

    • @jalofanclub

      Why? Did you get the 2WD model? Look for UA-cam videos of Escalade’s pulling trucks out of the sand on the beach... you’d be surprised.

    I own a 2016 ESV and will never purchase another! I have had so many issues since the day I bought it. Transmission problems, strut issues, vibration problems like your driving over rumble strips, mag ride issues, electrical problems with the auto rear hatch, sunroof problems, dashboard bubbles and it's actually going back in the shop tomorrow for A/C not blowing cold. Cadillac is a POS! I believe it has to do with soooooo many extras that GM tries to cramp into the Cadillac and all computer driven. I should have never sold my 2010 Yukon Denali. It drove like a dream except for dashboard cracking issues, same gos for my 07 Sierra. GM wouldn't recall the dash crack issue eventhough it was happening to thousands of customers. GM has pretty much lost my business especially buying another Escalade.

    Honestly the Escalade is so outdated and old. It was dated even when it came out. It's missing alot of features from the competitors and the ones it does have are poorly done. The interior quality is nowhere near class competitive and even basic things like a panoramic sunroof aren't even options. The only thing the Escalade has going for it really is the 3rd row seat. Otherwise something like a Range Rover is more luxurious by far, has much better tech, is built better, and much better off road although most ppl aren't taking a luxury suv off road anyways. Not to mention you can get a Supercharged Range rover which has more power. I know Cadillac can make a better vehicle than this, they need to dump this model and release a new version.

      454chevy454 LMAO are u kidding??? That's the most popular feature. I can't name the number of SUV's Denalis and older Escalades that get aftermarket copy cats of the signature taillights. I saw a Denali with both front and rear replaced. It looked dumb lol but can't blame him for trying. I have people stop me all the time and tell me that they love the front and rear. You've gotta be the exception because you're definitely not the rule.

    Well bankruptcy isn't a good recipe for auto makers, who build substandard vehicles transmission, and software glitches in escalade and it's $95,000 plus sticker price and the volt dismal failure as well as cadillac ct4 I believe $72.000 sticker price it's a volt with a 4 banger lol yeah it happened lol
