1965 Fender Mustang and 1965 Champ-amp

A little guitar, a little amp! Todays pairing straight out of 1965 consists of a beautiful Daphne Blue Fender Mustang, and a cool little Champ-amp. All original in both cases, in great shape, and boy does that Daphne blue pop! Today we've got Trevor here to tell you about things before handing it off to Nick for the demo.

I had the same Daphne Blue Fender Mustang. I bought it in 1977 for $100 from a friend who did not play. Love that guitar.

Damn I’m glad I bought mine when I did! Got one of these 2 years ago for $1,500. Similar condition and all original too. Love to see the ‘stangs on your channel.

Not exactly a shred machine, but in a way, that's the charm and beauty of this guitar. I loved playing one for demo purposes, but it wasn't for me. A player and his guitar should create a certain synergy. I don't know if anyone gets what I'm trying to say, but this surgeon's scalpel of a guitar didn't fit well in a mad axman's hands, lol.

This is a sweet video, but I have to say, the Fender Champ really doesn't do the Mustang's tone justice. The Champ makes it sound much thinner than it really is. Would love to hear this played through a bigger Fender amp. Still a great demo though, and man that guitar is in great shape!

I found the super-thin and nasally out-of-phase settings useless and not a nice or useful sound in any musical context, but otherwise an eminently playable, cool guitar with usable sounds.
