Best tips I've gotten that improved my putter game many years ago: -Throw the putter with a little nose up like Paige said. -Aim higher than with drivers and midranges and take advantage of that glide. -Don't use a power grip. Switch to a touchier grip that allows for a smoother release. -Bend your wrist just a little to get that little extra spin to make that putter float. -Play putter only rounds and play catch with your friend so that you get plenty of repetition. -This tip is from me: Get a putter with a high profile like a Nova and learn to throw it. They require a cleaner technique to be released correctly and after you can throw a disc like Nova nice and clean you can throw any disc without wobble.
I would agree with most of this in general. Putters have plenty of glide but require a ton of height for real distance, however... I wouldn't attempt to throw nose up or bend my wrist any differently than I would for a drive. I would definitely aim higher, but attempting to add nose up will only cause issues. Bending more isn't going to necessarily add more spin unless you're throwing a touch shot either. A drive is a drive is a drive. I personally use a power grip for everything (so does McBeth). I do nothing different when I throw a driver other than aim higher. For reference, I use a Nova on almost anything under 300 feet and drive them upwards of 350 feet (with plenty of airspace, of course).
Favorite tip: match lower body speed with upper body speed. I feel like I should work on doing this for many of my throws, not just situations when I'm throwing a putter. #fiercepierce
I love how happy Paige looks watching these things fly. That's the reason we're all in this sport, just watching these plastic circles soar. The Fierce has become my primary putter, and judging by how the cryztal flies it might well replace my proxy too!
Paige- this was one of the best description (about the disc) / instruction (how to throw the disc) videos I have seen. Maybe THE best. You are skilled at clearly and concisely describing important characteristics of the disc and how it flies. I'll add that you are also excellent at actually showing us how to throw, but that's of course not a surprise. All together, this was a very well done!!
been playing for 14 years just got a cryztal fierce and it is the best throwing putter I’ve ever thrown awesome disc can’t believe it took me this long to try it
Great instructional video-one of the best I’ve seen and it’s an elevation of FPO player content in general. Valuable info no matter what brand you throw. Love the idea of throwing the different putters in different ways. Really detailed descriptions but also concise. More for sure. Maybe do a similar video with your mids?
You are one of the best throwing teachers I’ve seen on UA-cam. You break down the throws really well and what little things people may be doing wrong. On that Brodie smith video the helping his wife throw backhand better. The tip with the hips has helped me a lot. Thank you
Sorry to be that one person but that little "no problem" dance might be the cutest thing I've seen today. That said I really need to start practicing throwing putters more often for other shots than just putts. I think it might be cause I don't like how it feels gripping putters (and most mid-ranges) when using other grips than the basic fangrip I use for putting. Most comfortable in my hand is fairway drivers and the slower distance drivers.
Old video, I know, been outta the disc game for 3 years, tossed a round yesterday. Sooo many form flaws. Decided to do some exclusive putter stuff for a few months to get back into proper form. Thanks for the video Paige
We played some disc golf together inside the baseball stadium in Clearwater, been a big fan ever since. The Crystal Fierce is exactly what im looking for in a throwing putter, thanks for the demo. Keep up the good work.
Paige, your tips at the end were invaluable. I have not thrown putters much because as a newbie, I have not really known what I should be doing with them, other than putting. I have a Innova Colt and Innova Dart I think I want to use now for other than putting :)
Paige, love your videos, they are so usefull! I'm almost 60 and have been disc golfing (poorly) since the mid 80s. I want to get serious about my distance (who doesn't), and have recently discovered if I back off and don't "give it all the groceries" I throw much farther. Could you do a video on ways to constructively power up your throws, without sacrificing everything you're trying to gain? IOW, how would you instruct a novice (I'm pretty sure I need to re-invent my throw) on how to go from baby steps to max distance. One day, I hope to throw like a girl!😀
Cryztal Fierce is the first putter I can tee off with that is “ace-contender” material. If powered up on a flat throw, it takes a soft and consistent 20 degree anhyzer that just glides forever. This is a very different flight than the regular Fierce’s. I love it.
Always be smooth. Don't overpower putters. Use the glide for distance and keep the nose angle slightly nose up! Great vid, PP! See you and AV soon! #FiercePierce
All I have been doing for the past 3 weeks is launching some new putters that I bought from different manufacturers. Your disc looks like it is fun to work with. I might have to grab one and try it out.
Slow is smooth, smooth is far. Still the best piece of advice I've heard so far, but there's ALWAYS more to learn and practice, just like the nose up putter throwing. I never considered that and it makes perfect sense. #FiercePierce
I realized that last year as well. Before I would throw my putters for every hole under 350 feet and put too much power into them. It worked out fine but I sometimes was off just a bit because I put too much power into the throw and would then have a circles edge putt instead of a park-job. Early this year I finally found a midrange than flies almost identical to my putter but that goes at least 50 feet further. Therefore I can stay under 300 feet with my putter and have trust into my placement / upshot game. Good summary Paige :) 6 minutes content - 4 minutes Fierce advertisement... (òwó)
Thanks for the great videos Paige! I’d like to see a video with tips for keeping footing and clean release in the rain, since you’re having to deal with it anyways right now.
I have no idea how to throw nose up without it just skying and not going anywhere. I hope these tips will help. #fiercepierce I loved your short video tip about putting 90-100% of your weight on the back leg to give yourself more power. It has really helped my approach game a lot.
Best tip I've ever gotten was to adjust my grip so I wasn't throwing nose up. Changed everything and added a ton of distance. See ya next time Paige! #FiercePierce
#FiercePierce Best disc golf tip I ever got was to get really good at throwing my putters and mids to help build a solid foundation for a disc golf game. Hated throwing no drivers for a few months but when I picked them back up I was throwing the disc 70ft further.

7:50 "Don't try to overtorque them..." *James Conrad enters the chat*
Seriously, Paige is one of the best when it comes to instructing and teaching.
7:29 for the actual tips on how to throw putters
Throwing putters is what I look forward to the most in the course so fun watching them fly
Favorite tip: match lower body speed with upper body speed. I feel like I should work on doing this for many of my throws, not just situations when I'm throwing a putter. #fiercepierce
Tristan Tanner might have something to say about that
I needed to hear that
I love how happy Paige looks watching these things fly. That's the reason we're all in this sport, just watching these plastic circles soar.

She’s a phenomenal teacher and player.
Your excitement is so contagious!! I could watch you play disc golf all day!
This is one of the best disc golf videos on UA-cam... Super fun to watch and the camera Girl rocks!... I'm throwing my putters today 👍🤜
Her discs are so clean. Im thinking I can get a few more feet if I clean the 5-10 grams of mud off my discs
I laugh because I relate
Refreshing to listen to Paige explain things like this!

your enthusiasm and ability to communicate are as impressive as your disc skills -- thank you!

Very cool insights into how to throw those discs, AND what they do as they leave your hand and during their flight. Great info Paige!!!
I love tour lessons Paige. I also really love that keen towel.

Only thing better then your tips is your enthusiasm.

I love it when pros let us amateurs into their heads, it's so incredibly helpful. You're doing that amazing well! Most appreciated!
The camera movement at the start caught me off guard haha. Love it!!
You do make it look easy. I have got to start to throw putters aswell.
Thanks for the advice!
Thanks for showing us and giving us tips, Paige!!

CryZtal Fierces are a thing of beauty
3:56 this sums up disc golf. Nothing like throwing a shot and having it do exactly what you want
Always be smooth. Don't overpower putters. Use the glide for distance and keep the nose angle slightly nose up! Great vid, PP! See you and AV soon! #FiercePierce
