I was sitting on my deck this evening praying because I couldn't figure out what was going on with me. I didn't think it was depression because it felt different and the way I was responding to life was different than how it is with depression. I suddenly heard my spirit whisper "you're burnout". I looked up videos on here for burnout and sure enough that is what it is. I have definitely left the honeymoon stage, but I don't know if I am quite in the full stress stage. I did figure out why I am burning out and am immediately putting a plan into action to turn it around. Thank you for this video.

Great video, especially for UA-cam because most creators will eventually burnout. I agree with the overall steps you described, but I think there is a step in-between the Honeymoon and Stress phase. It's a very subtle step that's hard to see. But you can definitely feel it.
Creating starts out as fun because you have nothing to lose, and then you suddenly cross a very fine line and it turns into a job. Then you start to burnout. This line is like an event horizon on a black hole. Once you reach it, you are trapped, and spiral downwards. However, if you can ride this event horizon line and not cross it, you will never burnout. Riding this line is not about getting proper sleep, etc. It's more about your perspective and relationship with creativity. It's almost spiritual. It's also hard to teach.
The strangest thing about burnout is that the best way to heal yourself and regain a creative balance...is to use creativity as a form of therapy. Burnout and other forms of mental trauma, can be healed with creative therapy. Therapeutic creativity is not discussed as frequently as burnout, but it should be. If creativity was a coin...one side would be burnout and the other side would be therapy.

I agree with you that there is a stage between honeymoon and stress. Maybe pre-stress? Whatever it is, that is where I am.

How do you move through burnout and get out to the other side? Or bounce back from it? I can't wait to learn more about how to focus on recovery and pick up on those tell-tale signs so I can try to mitigate burnout in the future. Thanks for reminding me to take breaks and check in! :)
