Thanks for the shout-out! Glad you got to this one. Brittney Slayes is one of the best pure rock singers you will hear. As with many bands, she sometimes uses double tracking for her harmonies, but they are not auto-tuned. She is classically trained and even did a Skype video with Lords of the Trident singing some opera off the cuff. Some other great tunes to listen to from them: Tonight We Ride... her vocals on that one are insane. Abyss... The title track of their latest album, which is a continuation of the Apex concept album. Cleanse the Bloodines... another great one. It's a fantastic rabbit hole. Enjoy!
Heh...Brittney is so classically trained, she sang Queen of the Reich at a karaoke bar in Edinborough, Scotland, after already singing a full set. Even with a crappy cell phone to record, and crappy karaoke equipment, pardon the pun, but Brittney _slayed_ it. That first high note on that video still sticks with me.
This band is one of my favorites ❤ Brittney is a vocal beast. Scott's drumming is awesome so is the guitarists Andy and Grant. Not to mention they are such cool people 😎
great reaction bro! Her name is Brittany Hayes but she goes by the name of "Brittany Slayes". There is no autotune on any of her songs. She layers her voice in studio and is what she calls the "Brittany Choir". All songs are written by the band and Brittany does all the lyrics. This is a great introduction to this band but if you really want to dive in then I would recommend the next one to listen to is "Tonight We Ride" which shows off her amazing vocal range (Floor Jansen eat your heart out! BTW I love Nightwish also). Then for a classic 80s/90s metal feel you could check out "Test Your Metal". There are also may live videos or the band on youtube so you can hear that they're flawless live also. If you are a Queensryche fan then you should check out Brittany Slays doing the song "Queen of the reich" at a karaoke bar right they they did a concert. Other songs to consider are "Cleanse the Bloodlines", "The Matriarch", ""Faster than Light", "Legacy", Abyss and "Spellbound" Enjoy (BTW subbed!)
Their two most recent albums Apex & Abyss are concept albums. Each album tells a story of a larger saga. Definitely listen to each album from front to back. Thank you Canada!
This is the first track of the album "Apex". It's a concept album about the story of the Matriarch, a power hungry woman who gave birth to four sons, just so she can kill them, drink their blood, and become immortal. To collect her sons, she awakens the Immortal from his sleep to do her bidding. He is bound by a curse to serve anyone who awakens him. In this song, Brittney is singing the role of the Immortal and Grant is growling the demands of the Matriarch. The second album "Abyss" continues the story of the Matriarch into the future. "Cleans the Bloodlines" would be a good next track as it shows the immortal bringing a son to her to be killed. It helps explain the story a bit more, plus it's a killer track: ua-cam.com/video/PfSL-6YExzk/v-deo.html
I hope you will do many more - they are excellent musicians. Britney Slays does multiple tracks in her own voice and calls them the Britney choir lol. There is a karaoke video in a bar after a concert with her singing a Queensrÿche song. There, you can see she needs no effects with her vocals. :)
Tonight We Ride is a solid one from them and the vocals are insane: ua-cam.com/video/UOvZKJlrtk8/v-deo.html Also, Arjen Lucassen invited Brittany to be on his latest Aryeon Star One project and her song with Michael Romeo (Symphony X guitarist) was released a bit ago: ua-cam.com/video/vn7P3oVMnys/v-deo.html
"A little happy-sounding".... OK, next UTA for you : "Cleanse The Bloodlines". LOL. Have fun with these gentle folk from Canada.... there's a lot to check out.
Very cool reaction!!!! gotta check out (ten thousand against one) (soulbound) (abyss) and (northwest passage)!!!! you haven't heard anything yet from Britney ! her voice is Amazing!!!
Brittney Slayes another one! Love this band! Sub here! "Abyss" is my fav! Also "Cleanse The Bloodlines" - Just EPIC! "Tonight We Ride" and a lil diff 1 "Northwest Passage", their take on a Canadian Folk song, again EPIC!!! (also "Northwest Passage" is my fav video, all parallel universe stuff...lol, ohhhh, ohhh "Faster Than Light" also GREAT vid!). Ahhh just love all of it. So Dio, meets Dragon Force, meets Pop Diva! I do love to hear that Brittney Choir!
Her mic had some echo applied to it, plus Brittney often uses layering, which she refers to as her "Brittney choir". Definitely no auto tune. If you want to know what auto tune is and how to detect it, listen to a discussion of it on the Wings of Pegasus channel. ua-cam.com/video/s7aDN3oujXI/v-deo.html
Nice react Man !!! Yes this rabbit hole you speak of.... you must go down.... many , many eargasms await you my friend.... can't wait to see more !! Cheers !!!
So tell us how you really feel. It was hard to gauge your reaction to this song. On a serious note, great reaction. The singer is Brittney Hayes, aka Brittney Slayes. You want to hear Brittney go high, Tonight We Ride. But they have a ton of good songs. Sounds like you are going to enjoy pursuing UTA more.
UtA to-do list: 1. Tonight we Ride (2015) 2. Legacy (2020) 3. Ten thousand against one (2017) 4. Apex (2017) 5. Abyss (2020) 6. Test your metal (2015) 7. Soulbound (2020) 8. General of the dark army (2011) 9. The Wind that shapes the land (2020) 10. Northwest passage (2019) 11. The Matriarch (2017) 12. Faster than Light (2020) To be continued... 😁 Greetz from Germany
Hey bud! If you want to hear Brittney's true range, check out these tracks! 1) Abyss 2) Tonight We Ride 3) Time Stands Still 4) Northwest Passage 5) Brindisi, with the main vocalist of Lords of the Trident over Skype 6) Karaoke cover of Queen of the Reich by Queensryche
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! AWAKENING To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die Come to me, awakening Follow my voice, come to me Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night Once again revitalized, to roam; to never Lighting my way in the night To roam; to never die
Brittney Slayes. She's alright. ;-) So question :are you willing to step outside of a comfort zone into music that isn't sung completely in English? There's so much great shit out there. One group I cannot recommend highly enough is BAND-MAID, an all female hard rock quintet from Japan. They're so good. I hope you'll give them a listen. The most commonly used onboarding song is probably "Domination (Live)," but I have a different recommendation: "Blooming." I think it's a great example of the musicianship, the songwriting, the EFFORT put into creating songs you can listen to 15-20 times and still be discovering something new in the performance. I've enjoyed your reactions to the works of Arjen Lucassen - he's pretty damned amazing - and hope you'll continue there as well.
Hell yeah, bud! UtA have no rival. Plenty of badass metal out there but no one else operates in this space like this. Yeah the major progression in the chorus is unusual for metal but it works so well, right? UtA are master musical storytellers. This song is song 1 in a two album, twenty chapter fantasy epic written by Brittney. Looking forward to your journey into more Archers. My suggestions are Tonight We Ride or Time Stands Still, to hear Brittney let loose a bit or Cleanse the Bloodlines for the quintessential UtA experience. Other super hot tracks would be Legacy for a very different feel, or Test Your Metal for a throwback that will let you meet the band. But they haven't released a video that you won't like. Basically a guarantee. Abyss, Faster Than Light, Soulbound, Northwest Passage. Always stupid high quality. Enjoy!
Cleanse the bloodlines, apex, faster than light, northwest passage, tonight we ride, shadow guide, abyss, dawn of ages, legacy, carry the flame, matriarch are all great songs.
Thanks for the shout-out! Glad you got to this one.

UTA are amazing. I just found them a couple of days ago and I’ve been listening to them non-stop. They’re amazing 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Brittney sings on Arjen's new Star One album - check out the track: "Fate of Man", you'll love it.
Each song on the album is about a Time-travel movie... this one is about the Terminator! Also has Michael Romeo (Symphony X) doing a solo.
I hope you will do many more - they are excellent musicians.

It doesn't have a video but "The Wind That Shapes The Land" is definitely worth a listen.
More UTA please!
Brittany is one of the best!
Cool a Gamer and music reactor 👍🏽 sub
Haha I also do a ton of guitar riffs on here too…thank you
I had the same exact reaction the first time I heard this song.
Her mic had some echo applied to it, plus Brittney often uses layering, which she refers to as her "Brittney choir". Definitely no auto tune.

Check out time stands still for more great brittney vocals
They are very very good.
Check out cleanse the bloodline next
I recommend on of their older songs, 'General of the Dark Army'.

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME!
AWAKENING
To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed
To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same
This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace
A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way
Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end
Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name
It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream
I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse
My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
Come to me, awakening
Follow my voice, come to me
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never
Lighting my way in the night
To roam; to never die
Check out unleash the archers cowards way. Thank me later
