    I'm currently a senior in high school. I feel like I won't get accepted anywhere, or that I will have a good future. The stress during this time of year is unbelievable. I just hope I can find a light, any light, in the end of the tunnel. 😔

      Nicolas Goldring You got this! Believe in your self, and celebrate all of the hard work you’ve done thus far. If you have confidence in yourself and your abilities and are truly proud of your journey so far, it will shine in your applications. Best of luck to you! Everything happens for a reason, and you will end up exactly where you are meant to thrive.

    im so lost in this process. i think my applications are not as good as they should be, and i feel like i wont get into my target schools. i overthink so often and cant go a day without regretting every decision ive made on my applications. i have no idea if im qualified enough to apply to the schools im applying to. i have no confidence in myself whatsoever no matter how hard i try to gain self-confidence. i know i shouldnt think like this, but i just cant. ive even fallen into a depression recently because of this and it is affecting my schoolwork. i need to stop, but im just so unsure about the future.

      It is completely normal to be overwhelmed by the application process. It is super stressful to plan for your future. You are not alone in this! If this would help you to gain confidence, a good check is to look up the applicant profile of admitted students at the school's you're applying to. For larger and state schools especially, being in or near the median of scores/GPA should be a good indicator of your chances of admittance. Outside of that, apply to a lot of different range of schools so you have options. I am sure your applications are great-so believe in yourself! You will get into a lot of great schools, and end up at a college that will support your future endeavors. Keep it up-you can do this!

    Tip: make yourself a google classroom. I did all of my essays in alphabetical order, which helped to check things off my list. Also, NEVER work on the actual online application. You will end up submitting your unfinished work on accident. Make a separate doc for every school, and add links to all of your docs on one main doc. Makes things so much easier.

    I’m currently a junior still in high school and I’ve been super stressed lately about getting into college and about my future :(. I’m afraid I won’t get into college or won’t have a good college application to get into a good school. I have a 3.4 gpa right now but I’m working on getting it higher. I’m also studying for the ACT right now too so I can get a good score. I don’t really have any extracurricular activities that I’ve done besides sports like soccer or track since I’ve moved around a lot. Any advice?? Please. Also advice for essays?

    Can someone give me advice please! I feel like I’m applying to colleges that I don’t actually see myself going to. I also think that the major that I want to be in, won’t make me any money. I am also very behind on scholarships, and I literally didn’t apply for any. I don’t know what to do and I’m stuck. I am just thinking about going to community college, but I feel like that’s also going to be very expensive. I really don’t know what I wanna do with my life and I am very anxious about the whole college application. I literally started this year which is my senior year and it’s like January right now. I feel very behind. I got excepted to colleges, but I don’t even see myself going into those. I want to go in DePaul university, but I feel like I’m not gonna be able to go because of money. The deadlines for the scholarships already passed in that school. I feel like the only scholarships that are left are the scam ones. I feel alone, but I am grateful that my older sister is helping me. I feel like at the end I’m not gonna be able to actually go to college. The last thing I wanna do right now is just take a gap year.

    Hi I really would like some advice here please, so I won’t go into much detail but ever since lockdown started I have had an incredibly hard time, I will now be a senior this next year and I know I need to do my very best on my college applications, but at this point I just feel so extremely exhausted and tired and I have no energy at all, so I do not know how to bring myself to start going through the college application process. I have been struggling a lot lately and everytime I even think about it I get really stressed out, any advice for getting my energy back and getting motivated to really work hard on this?

      I feel this. Personally, I think you should have weekly goals and start small, such as making a commonapp account and filling out your personal information. Then on another day that week, fill out your extracurriculars. Basically one small step at a time. I think you are thinking about the whole process and then you feel overwhelmed and don't know where to begin. Don't do too much, because I feel like you will feel more stressed at the end of doing what you planned to do. Only do what you intended to complete. Oh and submit your commonapp essay last, so you can only focus on that at the end and not have to worry about anything else. Hopefully this helps?

    Am I screwed with automatic rejections next year if I only have 2-3 extracurriculars that I was extremely dedicated to for four years straight, even though I don't really have an expansive and diverse list of extracurriculars like most applicants seem to have? I'm really only aiming for public universities in my state (Florida) which seems to be getting extremely competitive nowadays and will probably get even worse next year.

    • @JasmineRodriguez
      @JasmineRodriguez  5 років тому +2

      There is no such thing as an "automatic rejection". Most schools have a wholistic review process. 2-3 strong extracurriculars is better than 10 half-involved ones. While it is ideal to have 2-3 strong in addition to some that are of less importance in their entirety but still contribute positively to you somehow, you shouldn't count yourself out! Especially for large public universities. Their admissions is not as competitive as top universities, and while I am not entirely familiar with that specific college, you should put your full effort into your application. Never count yourself out without putting your best foot forward!

      Hi Egg I'm just a junior in high school roaming around on college videos on youtube but I want to add to Jas's comment! I think it's absolutely fine that you have 2-3 extracurriculars, especially if you were super dedicated to those activities and have a lot of interest/passion in those areas! If it brings you any ease, I have a friend who was accepted to Yale early action last fall! When I asked him what kind of activities he did, he said that all he did throughout high school was 1. a competitive robotics team and 2. a poetry club that he founded. Only two extracurriculars!!! But they were activities that he was super passionate about and put a lot of time into. Colleges want to see what you are interested in and my friend's situation just goes to show that even the most competitive schools in the country are okay with a few extracurriculars. It's all about quality over quantity! Anyways, good luck with your college applications process and I hope this comment made the process seem a little less stressful! :)
