      We also fry ripe plantains but differently. See Fried Ripe Plantains [Platanos Maduros Fritos]

      The green ones are tostones and are more savory and starchy. The ripe ones are maduros and are sweet.

    Trust me , there’s no master techniques. You fry, smash , then fry again. Put salt and dip n’ eat. Save yourself the time and enjoy

    The English created this dish :)

    • @CookingwiththeSenses

      Considering they grow in tropical areas is very unlikely this dish originated in the UK. But I will keep an open mind if you share with me some sort of evidence. Plantains plant originated in Southeast Asia (likely India, but argument could be made for other Southeast Asian countries near the Equator). They traded with Africa. Brought to America by slave traders and to a degree by priests/monks.
      The fact different countries in South and Central America and Caribbean (including Haiti) cook them similar fashion is indication that the cooking of smashed green plantains either came from Africa or the cooking technique was introduced to Africa by Southeast Asia traders. I disqualified Spain (colonizers of most of the Western Hemisphere countries because Haiti was a French colony).

    So it's just fried plantains, then crushed??. .🙄🙄🙄🙄

    • @CookingwiththeSenses
      @CookingwiththeSenses  Рік тому +4

      Give it a try. Not as simple as people thing. If fried to long it will burn. And if not fried enough… it will break apart when smashed.
