Can you do a video on Brivv air purifier? It uses natural compostable filters like moss, coconut shells and charcoal... They claim to be a really good product and I'd like to know what an objective professional can tell me now that it's been a successful Kickstarter
@@wombat7961 Once they get off Kickstarter I'll take a look. Generally, I avoid Kickstarter products. Just too often they don't launch or take forever to launch or don't live up to the claims.

For someone whose doing research about the right purifiers, this video did an amazing job at helping me understand what I wanted for my home. Appreciate how much and time went into providing results for each filter. ❤
Fantastic review. Three things to factor in are 1. the amount of carbon granules provided in each filter 2. the total surface area of the HEPAfilter determined by measuring the length and width ofeach plead x number of pleades and last but not least the country of origin for the filters. Some countries are known for particularly higher quality products than others. Overall, I thihk the Winix is hard to beat in that offers a satisfactory amount of carbon granules, hepa filtration area, air quality monitor, and the filters and machine are made in Korea. For under $175 it's my pick. For higher end, Austin air is powerful.
I got a RabbitAir A3 with the odor eliminator custom filter and couldn't be happier. I don't use the negative ion generator and typically only set it to low/medium speeds for my apartment. I wanted something that could reduce the smell from my cigarette smoking neighbors, and this thing absolutely fixed the problem.
I feel that thag Winix is a pretty solid choice it filters a lot better than a lot of other filters in the list and has a range of 360 sqft that’s a whole room right there. Getting it for myself thanks for the vod
Bought a Levoit H132 a few weeks ago. Air quality is vastly improved. I used to dust my coffee table 2 or more times a day. Haven’t dusted it once in 18 days. And the light laundry and cigarette smell is totally gone.
I bought the Oransi Mod. I live in a 900 sf 2 BR, separate living/dining/kitchen apartment and have noticed a significant change in air quality throughout the entire apartment. I wanted something that would clean the entire apartment if the rooms were open. I keep my 2nd bedroom and bathroom doors closed. I probably could’ve made due with the Mod Jr, but I figured I’d get better traction out of the Mod. They’re nearly the same size though and the Jr is 200.00 less. It’s up to 875 sf vs the Mod at up to $1250 sf. I never thought a purifier like this would be in my price range, but I was able to use Affirm to break the payments up over 6 mos which made it affordable and no finance charges or credit interest. Just 6 mos of interest free payments and it’s paid in full. Shipping was free and delivered within 3 days of placing the order online. I bought the package deal with a replacement filter that was on sale on their website. It’s a very simple no frills but all the thrills purifier. No app and no visual dashboard to see air quality stats. But it doesn’t need all that because it simply gets the job done. The filter is a reasonable price and doesn’t require replacement as often as some inferior overpriced models. I’m definitely happy with the purchase. The only con is that I don’t like the fabric on the exterior and had to buy a screen to place over and around it so my cat wouldn’t scratch it or run against it. I used a sheer screen and metal framed small reptile cage to cover it. You literally turn the Oransi Mod on set the level and forget it. Best purchase ever. Highly Recommend it. That said I have two of the H13 Core 300 small room Levoits that I bought several years ago and they’re both work horses and still work great. I bought a large room LV-PUR131 levoit that had very over priced replacement filters, needed 2 replaced frequently, and it no longer turned on after about a year and 1/2 of use. Tried resetting but no power at all. It went 6 mos past the warranty. Unless it’s a small unit for a room where I keep the door closed like the second bedroom and bathroom I will never buy Levoit again. They have a 1 year warranty vs the 3 year Oransi warranty. The reliability and air cleaning ability between the two brands is a no brainer.
Wow!! Thank you so much for your comment!! I was 🤏 this close to just now buying the larger Levoit + the smaller 300 for my craft room. I’ve had that brand in other completely unrelated (non electric) household things before & loved it but after reading your comment, I’ll definitely research the price of filters in Australia & closer look at the warranty periods first!! I’ve never owned an Air Purifier before so I’m heavily relying on videos (this video is excellent!!) & comments like yours to help guide me. I have 2 cats too so what you said about the one with the material cover thing is definitely something I’ll have to keep in mind too!! I don’t think my babes would scratch at it (maybe🫤) but good God that material if one brushes up against it, I can just imagine so I’ll keep that in mind too when considering… Thank you so much for your detailed comment!! I got a lot from it. You may of saved me an expensive “mistake” & helped me get my monies worth with whatever I do decide on. Big downside to getting your 1st of anything is it’s easy to make an expensive mistake or choose something less efficient cause I wouldn’t know the difference. Thank you!!!! 🤗💜
Bro the amount of research you put into it and how organised it was I swear down you made finding the right one for me so god fuc*ing easy! THANK YOU 😊

Hello, I would like to ask you and advise me please. I live in the State of Kuwait in the Middle East, and I live in a harsh desert climate and dust. Our stores have many brands such as: 1- Blue Air 2- Samsung. 3- Hitachi. 4- Philips 5- LG I was confused about what to buy, and I packed myself up and bought Blue Air. The question is, is my choice of brand correct?
Bluair is a great choice. It performed great in our 2023 round of testing, which you can see here - ua-cam.com/video/5Q7Rx0AasBQ/v-deo.html&lc=Ugw7zsBap2q0LuYeTxB4AaABAg
For a 1 bedroom apartment (~800 Sq ft) do you recommend getting 1 large air purifier for the entire place, or 2-3 smaller ones in different rooms? (one for the bedroom, one for the main living area, etc).
one for the bedroom and one for living room/kitchen. And you are more likely to get big discounted prices for the smaller ones ( more competitive/models).
Unfortunately, we aren't able to include prices and also participate in the referral link programs that support our work. Weird rule, but one we have to follow. HEPA filters generally last 8-12 months. Some may go as quickly as 3-6, some as long as 13-18 months...but in general, 8-12 is pretty typical across all HEPA filters. Your environment is the biggest determinant in how long it will last.
You should do a test in super polluted environments and have a friend with asthma or allergies try them out and see which one gives them the most relief. Try it with pet odors too. See how fast they go away.
Hi there, which air purifier would you recommend for allergies specifically dust/ dust mites. My home is 600 sqft. I want the best value one thanks in advance
Removing dust is easy for any reasonably good air purifier. Any air purifier on this list would easily get the job done. For 600 sq. ft. I'd recommend one of these: Buy Hathaspace HSP001 - geni.us/xddy (Amazon) Buy AirDoctor AD3000 - moderncastle.com/go/airdoctor-3000 (AirDoctorPro.com) Buy BlueAir Pure 211+ - geni.us/BCqi5D (Amazon)
I ended up going with the Rabbit Air A3. I liked the iOS capability and my house is roughly 1600sqft so this will definitely be nice for the largest area of my house. I really like the option to choose what custom filter we wanted too. I went with odor control because we have cats. It came with a 90 day money back so that was cool too just in case. Altogether I spent roughly $830. Thanks for helping brotha!
@@ModernCastle Update, it still works great! Helps during the allergy season. Also, I gave friends who are allergic to cats and they had no issues last time coming over. So it was nice that the air purifier helped with that.
Question: Does the Square feet coverage really matter, can I just keep running the air purifier for a longer time to achieve results to a model that covers more Square feet?
In general, it matters. There is a limit to how far the air can be distributed, especially if it's a less than open space. Additionally, you also have new particulates entering your space all the time. Every time you enter / leave a room, open a door, open a window, cook, clean, etc. If you lived a perfectly sealed room then a small purifier would eventually clean it all.
You're too kind. Thanks so much! I am hoping we can make our 2023 version of this video even better. We've got some new tests including ozone, wind speed, better filter cost analysis, and more.
Thank you for doing the work for me. After just a few searches your video came up and took the info I had gathered and added a bit more and helped me decide on what to purchase. I don't decide these things easily. Saved me a lot of time and brain strain.👍
@@aferlenda05 Levoit Core 300. Should be delivered by tomorrow. I'll try to remember to come back and update how they are ( one for my room and one for my daughter). We have horrible allergies that are crazy in spring.
@@RealNaisuCinema sorry but have been in hospital for a post surgery hematoma. Back fusion lead to some yucky stuff. Home in bed and doped up. 🤪 BUT!!!... The air purifier is great. Don't forget to take bag off filter inside unit before starting. Lol! Low is like white noise to me. High has some volume but not bad and you wouldn't need that on for long. Seems to move air well. Daughter opened a smelly perfume (as a test) and the air cleared out quickly. I'm very happy with size also. I'm happy with this purchase.
They are all about the same, but Levoit and BlueAir are much better value buys compared to Dyson. Unless you just really like the Dyson aesthetic, the others are a better buy.
Levoit is overall a fantastic pick! I am really happy that Molekule did not make the list because they are simply overpriced, underperforming garbage. I'm also surprised that no models from Alen made the list. Have you tested any of the Alen models?
Agreed, Levoit's really are amazing, especially for the price point. There were several other models that arguably could have made this list also. Molekule is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I know the internet at large isn't a fan, but performance wise I've always found them to be solid performers based on our standard testing series. But you're right, they are very expensive...both the unit itself and the replacement filters. Ultimately, their high price point is what kept them off the list this year. Regarding Alen, we haven't tested any Alen's yet. But hoping to later this year. I know many people swear by them.
@@ModernCastle We have two 5 in 1 Homedics air purifiers. One smells like chemicals when it's on. It wasn't like that before. But it's emitting a plastic chemical type of odor. whereas the other one which we bought at the same time, doesn't have that issue. What do you think could be the problem??
@@standforhumanitariancauses4756 1) could be simply that the filters are old 2) could be that you forgot to remove the plastic wrapper from the filter when you first got it 3) could be a defective unit Swap the filters between the two and see if that makes a difference
@Modern Castle Hi, thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I just need to know which one you recommend to absorb food smell for open spaces for open buffet and event?. Thanks. Reply
Hi, this video is sooo helpful! I will subscribe to your channel now. ☺️ Question for you - which out of the 1000+ sq ft models has the most carbon? This is what I’m looking for since our space has a lot of odor.
I just found your channel while doing some research on air purifier. I am learning so much. What would you recommend for an open concept living room and kitchen, we have a dog and a very busy household? We also cook several times a day. I want something that would cover the whole second level of our house. Thanks
For your open concept area I would go with the Oransi mod - amzn.to/319Bhj8 You could do the same for your 2nd level, but I would guess it's more rooms, less open concept up stairs. Probably better to buy room specific purifiers. I'd do BlueAir Pure 211+ amzn.to/3M0OWia for your big rooms And Winix 5500-2 for your smaller / medium sized rooms - amzn.to/2RjmiBk
Just bought a core 300s from amazon and then realised i should have probably watched a review before purchasing. Luckily it seems to be exactly what I needed. xd
What would you best choice for a house with several dogs, Levoit was on my radar, wanting one for there room and a main area . In overall house is 1200 square feet. Maybe two is over kill if one larger one is bought or two smaller better . Thank you
This is a great video. I have a Medify MA-112. Of note, the model I have is the variant with the H14 HEPA/UV light. I have a big room, and my issue with a lot of purifiers is that on the higher speeds, they are all pretty loud, and on the lower speeds they don't move a lot of air. The MA-112 moves more air on its lowest two speeds than most other models do on their highest, and so you can get a lot of filtration without a lot of sound. My big criticism of the unit is the short filter durations. They are rated only for around 5 months, and, as you would guess for a unit that uses two massive high-quality HEPA filters, expensive to replace. As you noted in your review, it is a fundamentally basic unit without advanced features, which may also turn some off given the price. That said, it is very good at doing the core thing you want in a purifier, which is high airflow + very good filters = quick reduction of particulate matter/allergens.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Very helpful. I agree with basically everything here. Big noise = big air movement But no one wants a super loud purifier on all the time...bit of a catch 22 when it comes to air purification, especially for larger areas
@@ModernCastle Yeah, I'm not crazy about the filter change intervals, but the performance of this unit is unquestionable. In a 1,000+ square foot room, the (EPA AQI) PM2.5 level started at 105, the filter was turned on, and an hour and a half later PM2.5 levels were 0. Measurements were made with a PurpleAir PA-I. It turned pretty dirty air into exceptionally clean air in no time, and seeing the number fall (and my allergies improve) definitely justifies the purchase price and operating expenses.
I just checked the video again and it says the filters last 6-18 months... you are only getting 5 months consistently? Does the unit automatically say "Time to change filter'?
@@utrutr6013 Medify requires the filter be changed every 4-5 months in order to maintain the warranty (they push a filter replacement program where they autoship it every 4th or 5th month). My thought is that the HEPA portion of the filter could last closer to 12-18+ months, but if you do this, you will no longer have the lifetime warranty. I like the unit, but since getting it, one major complaint I have is that the HEPA filter and the carbon pellet chamber are integrated together to make a single filter unit. However, they obviously do not wear at the same rate. They don't have all that much carbon, and the carbon pellets probably exhaust pretty quickly. However, the HEPA filter itself is large and thick, and at the 4-5 month interval, it is probably functioning even better than when new (as HEPA filters initially IMPROVE in their filtration effectiveness over time.) But, as this is a single-piece filter, you have to replace the entire filter unit, which adds more cost. This complaint also applies to numerous other models, such as the Coway Airmega 300/400, which also use an integrated filter unit (mind you, it is rated for a longer filter change interval). Beyond that, the MA-112 is priced comparably to some high-end units that use a separate HEPA filter and a separate carbon filter (and generally contain more carbon). While I like the unit overall, and it is incredibly good at particulate filtration, this is definitely something prospective buyers should think about. Additionally, if they are really concerned about VOCs, this is (along with most of the commonly-discussed units on the market) probably not the best match.
Mila is excellent. It just narrowly missed making this video. But still a fantastic purifier (filter replacements are a bit expensive). See our full review here - moderncastle.com/mila-air-purifier-review/
Hello Team, thank you for the very helpful video. Did you also review the Coway Airmega 400? It has been diffifult to find any independent reviews and comparisons of it versus any of the top-recommended 1000+ sq ft models. Kind regards
Hi, I live in a small bungalow. Does it make sense to buy a small unit for each bedroom and another for the open plan kitchen/living room area? The replacement of filter will cost a lot combined but I'm guessing they'll be needed for each room? Thanks
In a perfect world, yeah...it's best to have a unit in each room. However, in a practical one, I think you can get away with just having 1 in your bedroom and 1 in your main living room / kitchen area. That's going to cover the bulk of the area you spend most of your time in. Your adjoining rooms will benefit as well.
Perhaps would've been good to include an aesthetics mark, that's important to me. I'm wondering how these were tested in practise, surely if they were all tested in the same room one after another, the results would become less & less accurate, as the air became cleaner & cleaner from the previous tests, so by the end the last model had almost nothing to clean?!
Tested in the same room over a period of many months / years. If the current air quality in the room isn't sufficiently bad enough we'll add particulates to the space (usually smoke) so it has something to purify. Then we turn the purifier on high, leave it on for an hour, and take measurements before / after. In my view, the most important factor is the level of PM2.5 / PM10 that the purifier is able to get the air quality down to. In 1 hour, most of these purifiers on high mode are able to fully cycle that air numerous times. As a result, if there are still particulates floating after 1 hour it is absolutely the fault of the purifier.
Awesome video. My inherited condo has 1300 sf and I'm about to pull up carpets and remove walls and paint. should I get the Oransi or Medify or another. I think there is controversy about ionization so I must look into that. Thank you so very much.
I'd go with the Medify, it has larger coverage area. But both are great. And yes, ionizers can be dangerous if they produce ozone. moderncastle.com/air-ionizer-dangers/ - this page explains it
We have the recommended Winix 5500-2 in a bedroom. Nice unit and we like the "Real" charcoal filter in it. However we have Austin Air Healthmates in our large family spaces. You should include Austin Air in your tests for large areas - All American made HEPA units.
I read alot of recent complaints on Austin Air shipping with dents, dirty units, and malfunctions. Only reason I am hesitant on getting one. Im not sure if this is an Amazon order issue exclusively but there were quite a few complaints directly from the vendor direct purchases.
@@upy0ur5 Both my units are older and have been rock solid. However it seems that these days with shortages of workers and materials - quality is down in alot of different industries. I bought both my units from an Asthma and Allergy supply store on line. I am at the 5 year limit of the internal filter in one of my units so I need to order a replacement. Pricey but you get 5 years !
This video has helped me select my perfect Air Purifiers. I have 2 Medify MA-25 purifiers and I am now hoping to get a Winix 5500-2 as a complement. I have a 2 bedroom apartment but I want to get a Medify MA-112 when I buy my home. Thank you for the awesome review.
Question: If the price tag were not an issue whatsoever, could you do a review of the best air purifier? I really hope you can. that'll be very helpful to see your findings!
We'll always review whatever we're able to test. So if we come across some super high end purifiers and they are indeed better, they will definitely be in our next video (at least a discussion of them).
Living in Chicago right now while we’re #1 worst air quality in the world due to Canadian wildfires. Bought my Levoit Core 300 today in-store before watching this, and I approve 100%! Never realized how captivated I’d be by air purifier data and specs. 😂 Thanks for the reassurance on my purchase. 🙏
Glad to hear the video was helpful! But sure to check that filter often. If you're dealing with wildfire smoke you may need to replace the filter far more often than you think.
I'm curious why you rated Dysons so high when other investigative journalists have found them to be overpriced for their effectiveness. Could you review the Jade 2.0 by SurgicallyCleanAir?
I will agree Dysons are on the more expensive side. But at least in terms of purification performance, they are as good as just about any air purifier. Both PM2.5 and PM10 are in the 0.1 to 0.3 range across their range of models, their oscillation and airflow give them a coverage area of 800 square feet (in the 4th generation models), and they are well respected as a brand for their quality (both in terms of air purifiers and other products). I've not heard of the SurgicallyCleanAir, but I'll take a look at it. Thanks for your suggestion.
Performance will definitely be better if it was more centrally located, but in general, I've still found perfectly good performance by putting purifiers in the corner. I have 5 air purifiers in my home, each of them in a corner of their respective room. Each of them do perfectly fine. No one usually wants a purifier in a super visible, high traffic area.
Just watched your one from 22 years ago and I'm disappointed to see you guys haven't swapped over to actual dollar amounts. I said it in the over video, but why can't you also include actual dollar amounts so that we can know how much we might spend, as vague dollar signs don't actually mean anything in the end.
We have a 1750 sq ft home with 4 bedrooms & 2 baths. Open floor plan for the living room, kitchen & dining area. What would you recommend? We have a small dog. We have allergies here in Texas. Would 1 system be okay out in the open area or would we also need another in our master bedroom? We have been seeing a lot of advertising for the Sans, have you tested this? Thanks!
I'd go Medify MA-112 - moderncastle.com/go/medify-ma-112-air-purifier It's got enough air flow that you could place it in a central area of your home and get good home wide purification. I have not tested the Sans purifier (nor have I even heard of it).
What do you think about the Xiaomi Mi 3H? I'm looking for a budget option in the Levoit Core 300S price range, because the Coverage Area of the Levoit is a bit low for what I'm looking for. Should I just invest into more costly one or the Xiaomi Mi 3H is good?
Unfortunately, I haven' tested that model. We did test the Xiaomi 4 Pro, which I found to be excellent. That review is here - moderncastle.com/xiaomi-smart-air-purifier-pro-4-review/ I would expect the Mi 3H is solid.
We haven't tested The Pure 311, so I cannot say for sure on that. In any case, I expect both brands are similarly high performance. Hard to go wrong with either.
What do you recommend for my dusty room, because I am getting eye problems (I know it’s the house that’s dusty, because when I sleep in a hotel room, my eyes don’t get strained)? Also, this could be a concern with school starting on august 29th, because I lose my focus with strained eyes and it’s overall really distracting.
Basically anything from this list is going to be fine for dust. Just get the one that's properly sized (or a little over sized) for the size of your space.
For heavy shedding, you need a robot vacuum and/or a pet hair cordless / upright. Air purifier will help, but they aren't designed to suck up large quantities of hair. In any case, here are the 3 best for 1K+ sq. ft. 1,000+ Square Feet Coverage Buy Oransi Mod - amzn.to/319Bhj8 Buy Medify MA-112 - amzn.to/3sF6yZy Buy Rabbit Air A3 - amzn.to/31HTo31
Superb review! Just to clarify, does the Medify MA-112 use ionization? I’m really leaning towards this however want to steer away from the whole Ozone. If so, are their any (reliable) larger capacity purifiers that do not have this feature? Thank you in advance.
What do you recommend for 700 Sq ft, is among the quietest units, has 3 stage filtering (pre, HEPA, carbon), and no smart features (EMF is a concern)? Thanks!!
Any of the purifiers in this video are more than capable of handling dust. I would buy the one that has the coverage level appropriately sized to your space.
I personally mostly care about helping reduce the accumulation of dust in the apartment. I'm not looking to remove smells, or remove microbes from the air or whatever. I would like something I can clean, maybe just tap the dust filter outside, and call it a day. What I do not want is to have to replace a darn HEPA filter every couple months. What is the best product for me?
Mold is a large particulate and therefore easy for most any HEPA purifier to remove. The Shark Max performed extremely well in our tests and will handle mold with ease.
For an apartment, should I get one for the main living area and then a dedicated one for the bedroom? I sleep with the door closed so not sure if 1 large one will circulate properly while sleeping.
Yeah, I think that's a smart way to do it. And exactly what I have in my own home for personal use. I have a large Medify in my living room and then rotate in other mid-sized units for my bedroom. My kids also have a small purifier in each of their rooms.
I haven't tested that model, so I don't have a strong opinion. In our tests of the Blueair 211+ it performed extremely well. I would expect the 121 is a safe pick.
You probably don't need 5, but I would suggest perhaps 2 big ones or 3 medium sized ones. In general, your larger units are just better performers all around. I'd much rather have 2-3 big / medium units than 5 single bedroom units.
Thanks for these detailed reviews ! What are your thoughts regarding the Formaldehyde version for Dyson ? Is it something justifying choosing a Dyson Air Purifier over other brands ?
For the vast majority of consumers, it's just not worth the extra money. Very few homes / offices have a formaldehyde problem. If yours does, this absolutely, it's worth it. But for most, there are better options for less money.
Could you tell me why would i buy levoit that can filter till 0,3 micrometer when you could buy a Coway that can filter 0,001 micrometer? Does it mean that the Coway can filter more particles?
It means it can filter smaller particulates, not necessarily more. Airflow of the unit determines the volume of air (and therefore particulates) that can be removed.
My sister sent me the Hunter digital air purifier in 2021 due to the Oregon fires. It really helped to a degree in my place because I was so close to the fires along the gorge.
Thank you Derek, your review helped me settle on a newer model Levoit (600s). Unfortunately, I had to run and get it at Best Buy so no affiliate love (also wildfires really suck).
Did you Test the Mi Air Purifier Pro h with CADR 600m^3? Sounds to be a good air Purifier for smokers. Sounds better than the levoit lv-h133 for me, whats your opinion?
I haven't tested that exact model yet, but we did test the Xiaomi Pro 4 - moderncastle.com/xiaomi-smart-air-purifier-pro-4-review/#purification While the purification performance was excellent, it wasn't quite to the level of the others in this video. Though it's a really thin line of difference between them. Absolutely nothing wrong with a Mi purifier if you prefer them.
I love how detailed and comprehensive your review videos always are… but I have to laugh at the idea of a kitchen or some kind of room being 500-1000sqft when my entire apartment is only 411sqft! 😂 I found this one in my UA-cam search first but I can see from the description you’ve got a 2023 version of this too, which I’m watching next!
Lol, indeed...but you never know. While most units would be used in a home, many times schools and office buildings could take advantage of these larger units as well, which need that bigger coverage size. Here's a link to our 2023 version of this video - ua-cam.com/video/5Q7Rx0AasBQ/v-deo.html
Not one I've tested, but looks basically identical to the TP04 and TP07. This whole "auto-react" just feels like they are trying to put a new new label on something that every 4th generation Dyson air purifier was already doing...sensing air quality and adjusting as needed. I like Dyson, but that type of marketing is very disingenuous.
do you think there’s chemicals and or particulates in the air that aren’t shown/able to be recorded or traced on a normal regulated mass spectrometer? And do you think that the carbon/hepa filters have particulates themselves on them that pollute our air more so but it’s not traced on a mass spectrometer..?
Is the Blue Air 211 ok for people who have asthma, I read somewhere Ozone Iconized air purifiers not good for those of us with lung problems? I appreciate ur thought pls? TY
@@ModernCastle TY for answering. I live with a cat, just can’t give her up, I’m hoping it helps purify the air. I’ll contact The manufacturer on Monday regarding the ozone. I got two on Sale Amazon Prime day, the following day they raised the price by $100. I love a deal.
Thank you for the video it has been very helpful . For a room that is 750 ft2 / 60m2 that has very high ceilings 11.5 ft(3.5m) would you recommend a taller air filter ? Looking at the Dysons and you mentioned there is not much difference just the design.
The height of the Dyson's isn't so tall that it's going to make any notable difference. You just need something with raw airflow / high CADR I would suggest the Medify MA-112. See here - moderncastle.com/go/medify-ma-112-air-purifier
I'm not sure we'd really need a full video for that. While pets add something extra to the air, it's generally not so dramatic so as to need a specific unit designed for pets. Any high performance air purifier with a HEPA and carbon filter is going to be work. If pet smells are an issue you'll want to select a model with a larger carbon filter. Hello! I am looking for a 2 bed apartment with a woman who has 4 cats and and fosters at least 2 more bc I have no more options. I am severely allergic to cats. Which one would be the best and preferably cheapest to alleviate stuffy nose and asthma?
"Best" and "cheapest" don't really work when you're up against 6 cats, a cat allergy, and asthma. If you need a high performance purifier that works for the size space you have. These 3 would be my top picks for you: Buy Oransi Mod - geni.us/fZlzs (Amazon) Buy Medify MA-112 - geni.us/3unIMq (Amazon) Buy Rabbit Air A3 - geni.us/uhXbxS (Amazon) Followed by these (which don't have as much air flow, but are less expensive). Buy BlueAir Pure 211+ - geni.us/BCqi5D (Amazon) Buy Levoit LV-H134 - geni.us/BlJPF (Amazon) Buy Dyson Pure Cool DP04 - geni.us/sXnAr1B (Amazon) Buy Pure Cool TP04 - geni.us/WtjL (Amazon)
what's your opinion on the shark air purifiers? or larger cowry airmen 400? trying to find something to purify air and get rid of potential mold in basement to start excersizing down there! thank you so much!!
I don't have a strong opinion on Shark's purifiers. I haven't tested them yet. At least with vacuums, Shark's high end stuff is always great, while their low / mid-tier stuff feels very mediocre. I would guess the same is true of their air purifiers. Haven't tested the Coway 400, but the other models I've tested from Coway have been excellent.
Hi, i have a question I recently just bought SHARP Plasmacluster FP - F40Y and their brand is rly popular here. So sharp claim that their plasmacluster is ozone free and certified global labs for safety, but in the manual it states that the product emits a small level of ozone that's not harmful to breath. Is it true that plasmacluster didn't produce any ozone, or if it is then is it safe to use it? Thank you
Overall, fantastic purifier. We recently tested it. See our findings here - moderncastle.com/airdoctor-3000-review/ One or more AirDoctors will almost certainly make our best air purifiers for 2023 list.
Are there any purifiers that you recommend with a washable filter? What is your opinion of these types of purifiers with washable filters in general? I've been looking into the Oransi Mod, but saw that the replacement filters are $75.
AirDog is the only purifier I've tested that has washable filters + reasonably good performance - www.amazon.com/Air-Purifier-Home-Office-Microscopic/dp/B08T21MBFT/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=mc_1001-20&linkId=e461a95b102cd5f3123a671051329069&language=en_US However, it's notably more expensive for the coverage level and the performance relative to other similar type purifiers is notable worse. Washable filters just don't perform as well as disposable filters.
Hi sir . I need a air purifier for my son , he has coughing and allergies the doctors say it’s dust mite . We have a new built house , with carpet . Which air purifier do you recommend for about 400-600sgft space I seen your reviews but do you recommend number 1 over others I can spend up to $400 bucks .
I would recommend the Levoit H134 - amzn.to/3OmLS0q It's got ample air flow for the space and performed perfect in our tests. And it's well within budget. My only other suggestion is make sure that carpet gets vacuum regularly, as it will continually trap and release fine particulates into the air.
@@mr.unknowncali-life9350 If the smart features are important to you, then yes, it's worth it. If they aren't, then it's not. As there are other purifiers without smart features, but similar purification performance for less money.
If the house is new, you may also want to consider substantial carbon filtration because the house is offgassing VOCs, and this can make asthma and allergies MUCH worse (I was in that same situation growing up). In such a situation, AllerAir, AirPura, Austin Air, and the IQ Air MultiGas excel because they all have 10 or more pounds of carbon, which makes a much bigger difference with VOCs (downside being you will need to change the carbon filtration more often because the VOCs from your new home will exhaust it faster). In addition, you may eventually find yourself having to go to hardwood/laminate/vinyl flooring, as controlling dust mites with carpet is extremely difficult. Further, while I am guessing you have already, a mattress and pillow cover made specifically for dust mites, and laundry detergent additives for bedsheets can help a lot as well. As a kid I was in this exact same situation and it was not fun. I hope your son feels better.
These air purifiers work fine whether you have central air or not. Filter replacement varies by brand and model. Anywhere from $10 to $150. Generally you'll want to replace the filter every 12 months.

Well said on every point. Thanks for your additions to the conversation, Brian!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
I don’t think my babes would scratch at it (maybe🫤) but good God that material if one brushes up against it, I can just imagine so I’ll keep that in mind too when considering…
Thank you so much for your detailed comment!! I got a lot from it. You may of saved me an expensive “mistake” & helped me get my monies worth with whatever I do decide on. For a 1 bedroom apartment (~800 Sq ft) do you recommend getting 1 large air purifier for the entire place, or 2-3 smaller ones in different rooms? (one for the bedroom, one for the main living area, etc).
I'd just get 1 big one for a 1 bedroom apartment. Keep it simple.
one for the bedroom and one for living room/kitchen. And you are more likely to get big discounted prices for the smaller ones ( more competitive/models).
This is one of the best break down I have every listen to in any category of videos on UA-cam. You did an exceptional job.
You're too kind. Thanks so much, Barrett! Really appreciate your feedback and I'm glad to hear we're making something that's awesome.
Would have appreciated the price of the units and cost of replacement filters. Also how long the filters generally last.
Thanks for showing the noise level as it runs, I am one of the people who like a loud purifier so I can have white noise when I sleep at night.

You should do a test in super polluted environments and have a friend with asthma or allergies try them out and see which one gives them the most relief. Try it with pet odors too. See how fast they go away.
Thanks for your suggestions! I'll keep those in mind for future videos.
Hi there, which air purifier would you recommend for allergies specifically dust/ dust mites. My home is 600 sqft. I want the best value one thanks in advance
Removing dust is easy for any reasonably good air purifier. Any air purifier on this list would easily get the job done.
For 600 sq. ft. I'd recommend one of these:
Buy Hathaspace HSP001 - geni.us/xddy (Amazon)
Buy AirDoctor AD3000 - moderncastle.com/go/airdoctor-3000 (AirDoctorPro.com)
Buy BlueAir Pure 211+ - geni.us/BCqi5D (Amazon)
I ended up going with the Rabbit Air A3. I liked the iOS capability and my house is roughly 1600sqft so this will definitely be nice for the largest area of my house. I really like the option to choose what custom filter we wanted too. I went with odor control because we have cats. It came with a 90 day money back so that was cool too just in case. Altogether I spent roughly $830. Thanks for helping brotha!

Cooking can create 10x more air polution compare to outside air.

Hi, this video is sooo helpful! I will subscribe to your channel now. ☺️ Question for you - which out of the 1000+ sq ft models has the most carbon? This is what I’m looking for since our space has a lot of odor.
Thank you!
Oransi mod has the most carbon in it.
I just found your channel while doing some research on air purifier. I am learning so much.
What would you recommend for an open concept living room and kitchen, we have a dog and a very busy household? We also cook several times a day. I want something that would cover the whole second level of our house. Thanks
For your open concept area I would go with the Oransi mod - amzn.to/319Bhj8
You could do the same for your 2nd level, but I would guess it's more rooms, less open concept up stairs. Probably better to buy room specific purifiers.
I'd do BlueAir Pure 211+ amzn.to/3M0OWia for your big rooms
And Winix 5500-2 for your smaller / medium sized rooms - amzn.to/2RjmiBk

What would you best choice for a house with several dogs, Levoit was on my radar, wanting one for there room and a main area . In overall house is 1200 square feet. Maybe two is over kill if one larger one is bought or two smaller better . Thank you
Any purifier from this list that works for your coverage area would be perfect.
Big noise = big air movement
But no one wants a super loud purifier on all the time...bit of a catch 22 when it comes to air purification, especially for larger areas
Change filters every 5 months?! I thought the large units allowed for filters to be changed less often.

Hello Team, thank you for the very helpful video. Did you also review the Coway Airmega 400? It has been diffifult to find any independent reviews and comparisons of it versus any of the top-recommended 1000+ sq ft models. Kind regards
Unfortunately, we haven't reviewed that model yet. But it's on our list.
Same I hate large branding marks.

If money is not a concern, change the filters more often. You will get the most circulated/filtered air because all filters will get clogged up.
Thanks amigo. Levoit 300s for our master bedroom it is. Appreciate you.
My pleasure! Glad it was helpful.
Would it hinder performance if air purifier was put in the corner of a room?
Sorry - it's a product of the Amazon Associates program. Amazon doesn't allow creators to discuss price (since they change so often).
@@ModernCastle great and very thorough review. As for the viewers that are dissapointed, some people will never be satisfied.
@@chln5052 Thank you! And very true...no way to please everyone
Debating between the blue air 211 and levoit h134. Your thoughts?
Honestly, it's a toss up between them. Both are equally high performance purifiers. I'd buy whatever is cheaper currently.
You rock man, info really came in handy! We are about to purchase and were looking for this type of video exactly.
You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help.
Thanks!
I'd go Medify MA-112 - moderncastle.com/go/medify-ma-112-air-purifier
It's got enough air flow that you could place it in a central area of your home and get good home wide purification.
I have not tested the Sans purifier (nor have I even heard of it).
what is the difference between blueair 211 auto vs blueair protect ? is protect more worth to buy?
We haven't tested the Protect yet, so I cannot really say how they compare.
That review is here - moderncastle.com/xiaomi-smart-air-purifier-pro-4-review/
I would expect the Mi 3H is solid.
Which one do you say is better? The winix 5500-2 air purifier or the blue pure 311?
We haven't tested The Pure 311, so I cannot say for sure on that.
In any case, I expect both brands are similarly high performance. Hard to go wrong with either.
What do you think about Daikin MC55W ?Looks interesting
That's not a brand I've heard of before. I don't have any opinion.
Just get the one that's properly sized (or a little over sized) for the size of your space.
which one you recommend for a heavy shedding with 1k plus sf ?
For heavy shedding, you need a robot vacuum and/or a pet hair cordless / upright. Air purifier will help, but they aren't designed to suck up large quantities of hair.
In any case, here are the 3 best for 1K+ sq. ft.
1,000+ Square Feet Coverage
Buy Oransi Mod - amzn.to/319Bhj8
Buy Medify MA-112 - amzn.to/3sF6yZy
Buy Rabbit Air A3 - amzn.to/31HTo31
Superb review! Just to clarify, does the Medify MA-112 use ionization? I’m really leaning towards this however want to steer away from the whole Ozone. If so, are their any (reliable) larger capacity purifiers that do not have this feature? Thank you in advance.
It does include an optional ionizer. You can simply turn it off if it's a concern.
What do you recommend for 700 Sq ft, is among the quietest units, has 3 stage filtering (pre, HEPA, carbon), and no smart features (EMF is a concern)? Thanks!!
Medify MA-112 - geni.us/3unIMq (Amazon)
Amazing, many thanks!
You're welcome!
man super helpful and well organized. thank you!!
You're welcome!
Which is the best for dust mite allergens and post nasal drip?
Any of the purifiers in this video are more than capable of handling dust.
I would buy the one that has the coverage level appropriately sized to your space.
Which is the better choice, Oransi Mod vs Leviot 600S ?
Oransi mod, no question. Significantly better performance in our tests.
This is amazing work!
Thank you!
What do you think about shark air purifier max hp202 for mold? Also cool vid
Mold is a large particulate and therefore easy for most any HEPA purifier to remove. The Shark Max performed extremely well in our tests and will handle mold with ease.
do u recommend the Levoit for a 750 sqft 1br apartment?
Yeah, Levoit is solid.
For that size you'd want to go with one of Levoit's larger units though.
amzn.to/3OmLS0q - H134 is the best option.
@@ModernCastle thanks so much for the reply!
@@DayoAworunse My peasure!
What do you think of the blueair 121?
I haven't tested that model, so I don't have a strong opinion.
In our tests of the Blueair 211+ it performed extremely well. I would expect the 121 is a safe pick.
Thank you for the hardwork
My pleasure!
I have a 5 bedroom appartement.
Do you recommend 5 small ones for each room or does 1 big one for the whole house also the trick?
You probably don't need 5, but I would suggest perhaps 2 big ones or 3 medium sized ones.
In general, your larger units are just better performers all around. I'd much rather have 2-3 big / medium units than 5 single bedroom units.
@@ModernCastle thank you for the advice I appreciate it 🙏🏽
@@aitatta6219 My pleasure
How often do you have to replace filter? Are there standard filter sizes?
Usually filters usually need to be replaced every 12'ish months. However, your environment, usage, and the specific unit will vary this timing.
@@ModernCastle Thanks for your answer, it kind of confirms what I was thinking.
@@TheNompourri You're welcome
Could you tell me why would i buy levoit that can filter till 0,3 micrometer when you could buy a Coway that can filter 0,001 micrometer? Does it mean that the Coway can filter more particles?
It means it can filter smaller particulates, not necessarily more. Airflow of the unit determines the volume of air (and therefore particulates) that can be removed.
My sister sent me the Hunter digital air purifier in 2021 due to the Oregon fires. It really helped to a degree in my place because I was so close to the fires along the gorge.
Scary stuff. I imagine you needed to change those filters pretty often.
Thank you for making this video. Looking for an in-depth video analysis on air purifyers as a first-time consumer.
Glad it was helpful!
How often the filters need to be replaced on the Modify MA-112? Have you tested the Modify MA-114 with UV?
Every 12'ish months should be sufficient for most homes.
I haven't tested the 114 yet.
Thank you Derek, your review helped me settle on a newer model Levoit (600s). Unfortunately, I had to run and get it at Best Buy so no affiliate love (also wildfires really suck).
My pleasure. Glad my video could help.
And no problem. When you need it quick, you need it quick.
How it's doing
Did you Test the Mi Air Purifier Pro h with CADR 600m^3? Sounds to be a good air Purifier for smokers. Sounds better than the levoit lv-h133 for me, whats your opinion?
I haven't tested that exact model yet, but we did test the Xiaomi Pro 4 - moderncastle.com/xiaomi-smart-air-purifier-pro-4-review/#purification
While the purification performance was excellent, it wasn't quite to the level of the others in this video.
Though it's a really thin line of difference between them. Absolutely nothing wrong with a Mi purifier if you prefer them.
Hello, what is your opinion on philips 4000 series?
Not one we've tested yet. I don't have much of an opinion.
Excellent information. Thank you!
You're welcome!
I love how detailed and comprehensive your review videos always are… but I have to laugh at the idea of a kitchen or some kind of room being 500-1000sqft when my entire apartment is only 411sqft! 😂
I found this one in my UA-cam search first but I can see from the description you’ve got a 2023 version of this too, which I’m watching next!
What do you think of the Dyson TP7A with Auto-React?
Yes, though not to a significant extent.
And no, I don't think carbon / HEPA filters are polluting the air.
Is the Blue Air 211 ok
for people who have asthma, I read somewhere Ozone Iconized air purifiers not good for those of us with lung problems? I appreciate ur thought pls? TY
Yeah, Blue Air is fantastic.
I don't believe Blue Air produces ozone.

You just need something with raw airflow / high CADR
I would suggest the Medify MA-112. See here - moderncastle.com/go/medify-ma-112-air-purifier
Could you do a video on best air purifiers for people with pets ?😊
I'm not sure we'd really need a full video for that.
While pets add something extra to the air, it's generally not so dramatic so as to need a specific unit designed for pets. Any high performance air purifier with a HEPA and carbon filter is going to be work.
If pet smells are an issue you'll want to select a model with a larger carbon filter.
Here's our updated best of list for 2023 - moderncastle.com/best-air-purifier/
Can this remover odor smells as well? Im a truck driver as a flatbed driver and for sure when I sweat much I can tell as soon I enter my truck I always clean up but still I know there is a certain smell. Any advice that this can help me ? Also sometime small for a semi truck .
The purifiers with carbon filters will remove odors. The ones without carbon will not.
These 3 would be my top picks for you:
Buy Oransi Mod - geni.us/fZlzs (Amazon)
Buy Medify MA-112 - geni.us/3unIMq (Amazon)
Buy Rabbit Air A3 - geni.us/uhXbxS (Amazon)

what's your opinion on the shark air purifiers? or larger cowry airmen 400? trying to find something to purify air and get rid of potential mold in basement to start excersizing down there! thank you so much!!
Hi, i have a question
I recently just bought SHARP Plasmacluster FP - F40Y and their brand is rly popular here. So sharp claim that their plasmacluster is ozone free and certified global labs for safety, but in the manual it states that the product emits a small level of ozone that's not harmful to breath. Is it true that plasmacluster didn't produce any ozone, or if it is then is it safe to use it?
Thank you
That's not a model we've tested. I don't know how it will perform or whether or not it creates ozone.

211 uses some type of static and/or ionic technology. Blueair is very vague about it.
It is not a HEPA filter.

Hello, what are your thoughts of the air doctor 3000
Overall, fantastic purifier.
We recently tested it. See our findings here - moderncastle.com/airdoctor-3000-review/
One or more AirDoctors will almost certainly make our best air purifiers for 2023 list.
Are there any purifiers that you recommend with a washable filter? What is your opinion of these types of purifiers with washable filters in general? I've been looking into the Oransi Mod, but saw that the replacement filters are $75.
AirDog is the only purifier I've tested that has washable filters + reasonably good performance - www.amazon.com/Air-Purifier-Home-Office-Microscopic/dp/B08T21MBFT/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=mc_1001-20&linkId=e461a95b102cd5f3123a671051329069&language=en_US
However, it's notably more expensive for the coverage level and the performance relative to other similar type purifiers is notable worse.
I would recommend the Levoit H134 - amzn.to/3OmLS0q
It's got ample air flow for the space and performed perfect in our tests. And it's well within budget.
My only other suggestion is make sure that carpet gets vacuum regularly, as it will continually trap and release fine particulates into the air.
Thank you , is the rabbit really worth the price ?
Yes house was built 2021 December. Thank you so much for this comment . I bought the Alen brand one for my sons room .
Great video. Thanks!
You're very welcome. Thank you!
Waste of monies if you have central on? Filter cost how much? How long till replacement??
These air purifiers work fine whether you have central air or not.
Filter replacement varies by brand and model. Anywhere from $10 to $150.
Generally you'll want to replace the filter every 12 months.
