    I own a bunch of different models, including some on this list. My top performing and highest recommended AP would have to be the Coway airmega 300 or 400. Both are fantastic, but I slightly prefer the 300 only because it's a little smaller. Both are fantastic units, very quiet, great features, use little power (Auto mode, or the first two fan speeds), and move/filter a lot of air.

    great video! but it's worth mentioning that these are only the "best" purifiers within a certain (lower) price range. most consumers will be fine with any of them, but more expensive units (from austin, iqair, etc) will have better performance and other benefits like longer-lasting filters, longer warranties, and higher area coverage.

    • @AirPurifierFirst
      @AirPurifierFirst  2 роки тому +44

      You made some good points here, but I can't agree with all of them.
      First of all, these air purifiers are not only lower-price-range air purifiers but the best air purifiers among all I have tested so far. Actually, I have tested some pretty expensive air purifiers, and you can find their reviews on the channel or website.
      Thanks for your suggestion! But you should know that the IQAir HealthPro has a CADR of 300, which is smaller than the Blueair 211+ and Levoit LV-H134, which I included in the video. Then, I also have to disagree that these two are very powerful. They look pretty outdated, are very loud when on, and are not smart air purifiers. But, on the other hand, I believe their filters are outstanding, and that's what matters.
      However, I will do my best to purchase Austin Air and IQAir and do a review in the following period.
      So, thanks again for your suggestion!

    Best for litter box odors & my fur babies allergies?

    • @npaul4171
      @npaul4171 2 роки тому

      How big is the area and how heavy is the dander/allergen load? At least with my rabbit, a lot of filtration power is needed to pull floating fur out of the air in a larger room. From the odor side, most filters are not that great at this unless they contain very large amounts (i.e., several pounds or more) of carbon and/or zeolite. Filters like the Austin Air Healthmate and IQAir Multigas can remove odors (and VOCs) because they each contain over 10 pounds of carbon. However, they are large, loud, and expensive. Smaller filters that contain carbon pre-filters generally are not nearly as good at this and they will struggle to remove the ammonia smell.

  • @AirPurificationEducation
    @AirPurificationEducation Рік тому

    Winix 5500 and Coway Mighty are decent units for smaller spaces but they are not the "Best" for particulate filtration on the market. They are good for "general air quality improvement". Some folks need better filtration.

    • @heatherphilips9227
      @heatherphilips9227 8 місяців тому

      Actually, the Winix 5500-2 has been tested to remove 99.7% of particulates down to .3 microns, whereas the Coway and Blueair was only able to achieve 85% removal. The Coway will "recycle the air faster, at the expense of filtration. The big question here is, how well will these units purify the air after 6 months, as there filters begin to fill up? The expensive units filtration will last longer (generally) and cover larger areas, but "most" consumer grade air purifiers will clean the air to some degree. The Winix is a great unit. Sure, as the filters get clogged, air might pass around the HEPA filter a bit. Solution. Change the air filters. Air will find the path of least resistance, and a dirty air filter (in any unit), will cause air to "seep" through and behind the filter.
      If you want the "best" air filtration, you are going into a price category/range most folk would not be able to afford.

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 8 місяців тому

      1) I totally agree with you that the big question is how well the units filter after some "Real World" use. THAT is the big issue, for sure. Short Lab tests with clean filters is NOT indicative of how they will really perform for consumers in the long run.
      2) And I agree with you that "most" consumer grade air purifiers will clean the air to some degree, as well.
      3) That said, I have an older Winix 5500 (@ 6 years old) and I highly doubt it ever actually filters at a HEPA level (even with new filters). It is not sealed well inside the air purifier at all. I actually did a video on it as you can see clumps of dust on the sides of the HEPA filter and you can see visible dust behind the filter, as well. I was shocked at how much it was leaking dirty air. I will be getting one of the newer ones in the near future to see if they sealed the filters better. But from a few of the pictures I have seen - it looks like they didn't which would be very disappointing. But I want to get one to check it.
      4) Can you please give a link to the source where you see the Coway, Blueair and Winix test results? and the other two were only at 85%?
      That would be helpful to me.
      Thanks!👍 @@heatherphilips9227

      I just opened the new Winix 5500 and they did not fix the sealing problem they had with the older unit. When you jiggle the unit you can literally hear and feel the filters move around inside the unit so there is NO WAY this unit is ever filtering at a HEPA level, IMO. They say "Winix True HEPA Captures 99.99%* of airborne allergens.... and other ultrafine particles as small as .003 microns" on their website - but I do not believe this can possibly be the case as the filters are not sealed inside the unit. Ditto the Coway Mighty - I just opened one of those, as well. It is designed very similarly to the 5500. @@heatherphilips9227

      @@Sun.n.Flowers Hi Ana, my air situation is a lot more severe than most (marijuana smoke from neighbors and then some.) And I returned my Rabbit Air and settled on a Honeywell HPA300 - a rather large size, for a regular bedroom. I'm happy with it overall, but unfortunately it can only do so much for the smell. I also have a Levoit Core 600S in my living room running constantly. Again: nothing short of moving out at this point will help me deal with the situation. But yes Honeywell and Levoit Core 600 are my recommendations :)!

      I haven't tested the Xiaomi Mi 4 Pro, but I believe it is an excellent air purifier and great value for money.
      There is just not enough place to put all the air purifiers I have tested on the list of the best buying suggestions. There must be some sort of selection! But, If the Xiaomi Mi 3H is not on the list, it doesn't mean it is not worth it and is not a good device; on the contrary, it is a fantastic air purifier.

    Have you ever make air quality in the room test without air purifier ? I mean if you wait 60 min all dusts fall down the room surface so maybe air purifier just placebo affect. One of my friend work related sector and she says not really affective gadget for home.

    • @AirPurifierFirst
      @AirPurifierFirst  2 роки тому +12

      Yes, I actually have, because I also wanted to be sure that the air purifiers actually work. I also tested the air purifier with a filter taken out of it, and it made unnoticeable changes in the air quality. So, I did perform many different tests.
      From all the tests I've done, I noticed that the air purifier won't only reduce/collect dust but also pollen, odors, hair, and many other pollutants, so definitely it's not a placebo.

      I'm here watching these because those cute and extra fluff features didn't actually offset the fact that I found Xiaomi's replacement filters to be the backend "catch" I essentially backed myself into after chasing down great "better then the american stuff" surface value.
      In the end I just want something I can plop down and have it clean air. And *NOT* having to continuously drop $50 on cheaply made replacement filters that are designed to need constant replacing matters a whole lot more to me then whether i can talk to a device, use a phone app, or whatever else people feel is necessary to replace that literal .1 second it takes to physically a push button before walking away leaving it to do it's thing.

    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
