I bought an air purifier a while ago and had to send it back because the air that came out was warm. Being in Australia in a hot environment, I was wondering if there were any brands that you would recommend that emitted cool air and was good for people with severe lung disease. I am happy to pay a higher price for the right purifier. Also one that doesn't humidify the room. Thank you for your video. Very impressive.
I haven’t noticed warm air but it’s always super cold weather here so hard to notice. I want to start using a thermal camera for reviews so this gives me a good excuse to get one and investigate if the air is warmer for some air purifier models. Do you recall which model you had?
@@HouseFresh I am so sorry. I just realized while I was answering your question, it wasn't a purifier at all. It was a dehumidifier. I do apologize. But the question does still stand. I think it would be important for people in hotter countries to find out if the exhaust from the purifiers are warm air or cool air. I did happen to see there was a purifier from Dyson that could be used as a cooler and heater as well as being a purifier. They were very expensive as is Dyson's want. Looked at the comments when I looked at the youtube for the same product. Some were happy with it and some thought they were overpriced rubbish. I am very confused.
Even non grade HEPA will be good enough to remove mold spores as they are often much larger than the most penetrating particle. In fact a non HEPA grade will be able to remove mold spores in the air quicker due to the increased air flow. A full detail on this is here: itsairborne.com/hepa-filters-are-not-needed-67e952792481
Thank you for the video. What is a good air purifier for allergies, especially mold and dust, along with mild asthma for large room about 400 sq ft, no cigarette smoke and no pets in Michigan.
All depends on budget but for that size room you have options like the Levoit EverestAir and Coway Airmega 300 which are two very solid devices for larger spaces. You can then run them on lower speeds for your room.
I’ve been researching air purifiers quite extensively over the last couple of weeks and wish I would have come across this video sooner. Very well done - thank you!
I made and have a corsi rosenthal purifier. However, it’s big. It gets knocked off the chair… and my cats try to lay on top of it crushing it in. I made my box with the fan facing forwards, not upwards so to catch the breeze of the fan in the home. Those two issues alone… size & cats laying on it, make me frustrated. Thus I’m here looking for a smaller option with same quality purifying effects. I wish there were small size square box fans and filters to make mini versions of the corsi box that can be sat on a kitchen counter, bathroom counter, night stand, etc. I try to stay away from smart devices due to EMF’s, so that is another plus for the box fan corsi box.
This is one of the main downsides to the Corsi-box - size. You might want to check out the AirFanta 3Pro as its pretty much a mini version that uses PC fans so is also a lot quieter. Its also a lot more durable but the downside is that it doesn't use off the shelf HVAC filter you do have to buy them from the manufacter. My review if your interested: housefresh.com/airfanta-3pro-review/
Excellent video, on a topic that is not covered as much as it should (my wife is allergic, as are many people). If there would be one suggestion, probably a comparison/summary table at the end would be the only thing missing. Thank you very much for your work.
Really annoying it now seems that you can't find it anywhere - have a done a video about this on the channel - ua-cam.com/video/HwrAv4Vah0s/v-deo.html Be aware the AP007 is not as powerful at 150 CFM.
Hi what purifier do you recommend for cigar smoking indoors in 100sqft room? I was looking at Winix 5500-2 and/or Leviot core 600s. Thanks for your input in advance.
Out of the two I would pick the core 600s as it has a much higher CADR but it’s unlikely to be enough for cigar smoke indoors. for this use case you might need investing in a device that uses electrostatic filters and have very high cadr and are classed they smoke eaters but they are not cheap staring at $1.6k. The consumer device that offers a similar function would be something like the Bluair classic range like the 605 but if you want to be able to keep a room clean when smoking indoors you will have to likely have to get one of the high cost specialist units. I haven’t tested any of these so can’t offer specifics but hope that is helpful.
I am going with the IQair simply because it works best with smoke. Con's the price, not sure if I want to invest that much in a purifier , however I'm tired of the cigarette smoke in the house .
Very interesting, Vital 200S -s is a very good option if Core 400 has no advantage with additional features, do not understand why Core 400s is more expensive.. What you think about LV-H134 Tower pro air Levoit ? It should cover 716 ft/sq and the cost is less than Vital 200S. I find it quite strange.
They seem to be the LV series, Levoit doesn't seem to push them as much. I have tested the H133 and it was good but most of the smaller ones in this series were not worth it. I saw that it had a great price of $129.99 on Levoit.com, which seems great for 312 cfm CADR you get: www.anrdoezrs.net/9b108uoxuowBDCCHHCCFLBDHHIFHEE?url=https%3A%2F%2Flevoit.com%2Fproducts%2Flv-h134-tower-air-purifier If you do get it, let me know how it is.
Looking for smaller 120sqft room air purifier and one larger 220sqft air purifier. We have a heavy dirt/dust problem and 2 large hairy dogs. What would you recommend that is beat for this situation?
I would go for devices with a removable pre-filter and pelleted carbon so I would look at the Levoit Vital 200S or Winix 5500-2 for the larger room. If you can I would get a mid size device like these for both rooms and you could just use the one in the smaller room on a lower fan speed which will reduce the time you need to replace filter/energy usage.
For the workplace you might want to use a respirator as any air purifier won't be able to remove all gases and particles quick enough plus much cheaper. For home you may be interested in the new series of PC fan air purifiers that uses HVAC filters. Happy to answer more questions as you need.
@@HouseFresh one question after watching you reviews I'm looking at the Levoit 300S (for my sons bedroom) Levoit 600S for our living room. We live in the UAE so constantly in air con and feel like we are getting sick a lot . Would you suggest these two? We don't have a budget as such. We were going to get Dysons but after watching e videos we thought Levoit may perform better?
I'm a fan of the 3000i although its a bit pricey. All the Dyson devices I have looked at are quite overpriced for the air cleaning performance they provide but then they are also combo units so provide fan/heater/humidifer functions aswell. Can see them here: housefresh.com/?s=Dyson
Yo Thanks for the video it did indeed help me out. I just ordered the Everest Air. I talked to a rep today named Calvin. He suggested the same exact Levoit purifiers you just did for my living rooms and bedrooms.
Wow 7 cats 🐈⬛. I would go for a large device that uses a lot go carbon as I have know that litter box smell is a challenge. Some large devices worth looking at Levoit EverestAir, Coway pro x and smart air blast mini with carbon. The iqair health pro is also a good option with its 5lbs of carbon.
I have one and will be testing this weekend! I went for the table design model and I like how it doesnt look like an air purifier at all. Also the filters can't be beaten at £10 a filter!! Hopefully it will perform well so we will include in the updated list for 2025.
I have mould spores in the home and i want to clear the air in my room which is 29m2, I have been looking at the blue air 511 and the Coway AP-1512HH? Which would best mould spores?
Hi I have copd and I'm looking to buy the best air purifier I can, the problem is that I need one that can remove as many irritants as possible and whilst I found the video really useful I'd be very interested to know which ones help with formaldehyde removal. I need one for a room that's about 600 sq feet. I've looked at the major brands but I'm just flummoxed as to what to buy. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hey, it's not easy, so I totally understand that you are feeling flummoxed. Formaldehyde can be removed with activated carbon, although if you know you have a serious issue with this gas, an air purifier alone might not be enough. 600 sqft is a fairly large room, so you will need a large air purifier. This list should give you plenty of options: ua-cam.com/video/pEGpgtxtUOU/v-deo.html If you need more help just email me: danny@housefresh.com

I love your reviews, it would be great if you could post some thoughts on Bosch air purifiers, specifically Bosch Air 4000
What is the best pick for pet dander? I may have some allergies to pollen also but more so my girlfriend’s dogs bad dandruff. When the sun shines through our window I literally see particles floating everywhere. No one in the home smokes so I assume most the particles are larger. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the reply honestly! We have a couple of cats with long fur and it would be nice to have a bit of help from an air purifier plus to make it easier for visitors that have allergies. @@HouseFresh
Since these devices are meant to run 24/7 365 days I assume most people, like myself, will be running them on the low setting if an Auto function is not available. I think it would be a great addition to your testing to see how quickly/effectively these devices can clean the air in a room at their lowest settings. I have a hunch a device that performs amazing at high fan speeds might perform terribly at low fan speeds.
A great idea. I am already working with my latest videos to find performance under 45db for each air purifier. I will implement into the next best air purifier video we shoot! Can also update the running cost at low for each device so more accurate.
Great video mate, i am going to get my mother one for her bedroom as she has been auffering badly with sinud headaches the past 12 months what would you recommend for a bedroom?
@HouseFresh thanks, think I should go for winix zero s at 200 or airfanta 3 pro at 250? I probably want to get 4 or 5 or them and run them 24/7. So they would need to be quiet. But at the same time I know the airfantas don't have a sensor,... I don't want to be constantly worrying about turning them up and down! Id rather just turn on and forget.
@@Elwon20 The airfanta has a good voltage dial that you can set and forget at a level of quiet you are happy with. It does seem that the Airfanta is out of stock at the moment though!
It would depend on total room size but in general I would reccomend having a device on each floor/seperate room and try to get as big as you can live with as you can then run them continouly on a lower fan speed so pollen/dust is continually being removed. A good solid device is the Winix 5500-2 as has a good price and fair running costs but very big rooms might need a large CADR device. Happy to help in email if you prefer: danny@housefresh.com
Thank you! I have a compromised respiratory system and I’m moving into off-campus student housing of questionable quality (moldy), so the discovery of air purifiers is really calming my concerns. Looking forward to the Nukit review.
Thank you for summarizing for us. I am interested in smart air, yes even though the design is very basic but it is available in my country and the performance is good according to you. But I still don't understand why you categorize it for the office or in the campus / school class. Is there any problem if placed in the bedroom? Can speed 1 be used while sleeping? considering that we must have as little noise as possible to get good quality sleep. Thank you in advance for your willingness to answer.
No problem but its quite big. You might want to look at the SA600 with the new 5 fan speeds. I'm testing it now as its very quiet and much smaller to be used in a location like a bedroom.
I noticed CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) was not mentioned whatsoever and is arguably the most important factor as no matter what unit you use it will need to keep up and beat the rate at which particulates and pollution are generated within an indoor space. It seems, without this metric, the review is only capturing an incomplete result. Your thoughts?
I agree CADR is super useful in identifying good air purifiers and our own testing is often used to check that this data matches real world performance. We have found a small number errors in the EnergyStar CADR database and some manufacters don't send their device for tests so we don't won't to only rely on that alone. But it is something we always consider as you can see in our reviews: ua-cam.com/video/9cw8mRx0zHE/v-deo.htmlsi=_pdd_soLzCZfMb5-&t=312 I didn't go into too much detail in this video as it was already getting pretty long but will make sure to include this data in any tables we produce - we had good feedback from someone saying it would be good to have a table of data at the end to list all the information and CADR would be a good additon to here. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Hi thanks so much for the video!! We recently moved into an area that has a huge rubbish rip nearby unfortunately. I’m super worried about my daughter’s heath. Which do you recommend and how many do you think I should have in the house? The house is about 200 square metres
I would look first at one room you want to keep clean like the bedroom . Depending on your location the Winix 5500-2/winix zero s is good for dealing with both odors and particulate and at a good price .
When you mention Ionizer re the Winix they claim it has a positive & negative charge .. is it still omitting a negative charge ? I am looking at the Zero + Pro 5 or the Levoit 600S .. which is better ?
Not sure how to measure that but I think it’s just a soft ionization process that only adds weight to existing particles . You can easily disable . I prefer the look of zero pro as the non bonded filter and removable pre filter. Core 600s has more power . I’d choose the zero pro but the 600s is still a good device .
@@HouseFresh Legend mate thanks for your reply it is good to see channel operators engaging the way you do, much appreciated. one question re the Zero, is there a huge difference with filtration without the plasmawave switched on ?
I've been using the Coway hepa filters for about 10 years now. Are they considered outdated and not recommended at this point? Should I consider replacing them with one of the units from this list?
No the Coway Ap15122hh which we reviewed housefresh.com/coway-airmega-ap-1512hh-review/ is still a good unit but is slightly beaten but the newer devices we have reviewed this year. I am keen to test the new Coway 200M to see how it compares to the newer units from Levoit and Winix. Coway is one of the better brands in the industry so wouldn't want you to think you need to replace.
I find the Dyson devices over-priced for the air cleaning power they give but many people like the design and they usually have extra functions like a fan/heater/humidifier that isn't available with other brands. I reviewed the Philips 3000i and Philips 800S so you can see what I think about them. Overally a much better price to performance ratio than Dyson and they also have good looking design.
Most particle based filters will deal with this. I would look at the Levoit Vital 200S or the Winix 5500-2. You could run the Winix 5500-2 without carbon for improved speed if you don't care about Odors. Wait for Black Friday as will be soon and decent discounts.
I do want to look at them but I don't have a great test for VOC'/Odors yet so I expect I will see similar performance to other high carbon filters like the Austin Air Healthmate that have much higher costs for reducing particles. I have heard good things about these devices when looking at VOC's and odors but do think they are quite specialized and likely not a good choice for the average consumer. Once I have a good test for odors and VOCs i will look at them.
We did a full article here: housefresh.com/air-purifiers-for-wildfire-smoke/ the main thing is you need HIGH CADR so avoid any of the smaller units on the market.
I have a basement room with HORRIBLE dust and some mold from water seeping into the walls from my shower. Its slightly under 300 sq ft. Which one would be best for me?
I would make sure to deal with the humidity issue first with a dehumidifier and then look at an air purifier like the Winix 5500-2 or Levoit Vital 200S for dealing with any pollutants in the air.
Its a really well made small air purifier: housefresh.com/shark-hp102-review/ although pricing can be a little high as you can often get a mid-sized air purifier for the same price so just check the price history.
Main thing to look for is a good amount of Carbon. Best budge option is the WInix 5500-2 as it has washable carbon filter with good amounts for the price. Right now I am using the Alen 45i with the Smoke/VOC filter and it works very well for my kitchen.
What do you think about shark neverchange. I was thinking about getting the Shark Neverchange for 300 dollars. It's for a house and we have a dog, 2 cats and a 5 year old. I plan on moving it between the living room and basement.
Have received a lot messages about the Shark Neverchange so will need to test soon. In all my years, most filters that’s promise that they don’t need to change usually don’t match up to expectations but will go in with an open mind. I did like the build quality of the shark hp102 but is generally too high cost for the performance to make it a device I recommend.
For large spaces, did you test the Medify MA-112 and Coway Airmega 400 or even the Airmega Pro X? These score highest on other publications, and given the price and size one can see why... I'm always looking to compare the best combination of performance vs noise vs power draw - on basically all devices this is around the middle fan speed at most. I wish air purifier reviewers did noise-normalized performance tests on all these categories.
Not tested those buy very much want to test both the Coways as I like their other devices. Have reviewed a few Medify devices and I always found the genuine filters ridiculously priced but will also eventually get around to this device for testing. I also want to test and review the IQAir Atem X but $1300! Love your idea and have already started to test larger devices for performance at different speeds so will make sure to get the middle fan speed.
I work in a parking garage and there’s black soot from vehicle exhaust everywhere!!! I really need some help on what would help keep me safe in my office area. Please can you help. Thanks.
@@HouseFresh you’re the best! Can’t thank you enough. The washable filters should be fine or like an activated carbon filter? The soot is everywhere, pretty thick.
Great video. I’m curious if there should be a purifier on each floor. I have two short hair dogs and despite swiffering daily I can see particles in the air. Total sqft 2000.
In general I recommend an air purifier for each room. But if this is too much one in the hall area and in the room you want to keep clean. Thanks for the kind words 🙏
@@paulmcqueen4749 not a good luck for Levoit as they shouldn’t have said it was hepa but I wouldn’t worry too much as the filters still performed well at removing tiny particles in our test and the Aham cadr report.
I was looking at a Levoit model and a few reviews said they were a lot of EMFs. One guy said it was emitting 45x the amount of EMF than their microwave. Not sure what to think, and are they all like this?
Hello! Thank you again for such a great review. My 2 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Lukemia, I was wondering if the Levoit was good enough for a large space even though it doesn't have a hepa filter. Or do you have any other recommendations?
Really sorry to hear abut your daughter. I wouldn't worry about it not being HEPA as we have seen that many non-HEPA grade filters can perform quicker at removing the smallest of particles from the air. If you share me the room size you want to keep clean and I provide a few different reccomendations for you to choose from.
For the rooms the kids are like 8x13 so 105sq feet ish and ours is 13.75 x 15.5 so 215 Sq feet. I am also looking to get one to put in our living room but it's open with the kitchen and has vaulted ceilings. He big open space in our living room is where I was thinking of putting the leviott 600s. I don't know about the other rooms yet
My use case is needing the best low-cost purifier with a mechanical on/off switch, so I can integrate it with my existing smart plug to turn it on/off. Sadly, they're becoming hard to find nowadays. That being said, if any of these touch-controlled units default to turning back on if they were on before they lost power, that would be good to know.
Of the top of my head, the SmartAir devices, AirFanta3p and the clean air kit devices will work with existing smart plug. I will test which turn back on when they lose power but in most cases I have seen they need manually pressing to come back on. Will be something I will look at with future reviews every time to look for - thank you for that idea!
Hi, I'm finding it difficult to decide on the best air purifier that I can buy in the UK. When I look for the models you recommend they are usually US models. I am looking for a purifier for a large bedroom for a teenager with allergies to pollen, dust etc. My budget is up to £200. Many thanks.
@@HouseFresh sorry, me again! I have looked at the Winix zero and although it looks great I think it may be a bit big for the room. It is quite a large bedroom but still only about 5m x 5m so is there something you could recommend that is for slightly smaller areas? Many thanks
I don’t like to recommend much smaller devices as they often cost a lot more long term. housefresh.com/levoit-core-200s-review/ maybe this as it’s a little smaller?
I like to get a very large one for the central area and if required then smaller devices for the individual areas. You can work out what CADR you need for the space here: housefresh.com/cadr-calculator/ Hope that helps!
Hopefully I get a reply back and thank you in advance! I’m doing resin 3D printing which emits pretty toxic fumes and VOC’s. I was looking at a puroair with a HEPA 14 filter would that be enough for those really small particles/ VOC’s?
VOCs and gasses in general are only removed by carbon. The best “cheap” air purifier with a good amount of carbon would be the Winix 5500-2. I would avoid any that use bonded filters that combine the carbon and particle filter as in your use case you may need to replace the carbon more regularly so won’t want to waste money/create waste by replacing both parts. Hope that helps, happy to answer more questions.
They offer prertty good air cleaning for $ spend and I have published a few reviews on my site over the years: housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-211-review/ housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-411-review/ housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-311-auto-review/ housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-411-plus-review/ My issue is that you can't disable the ionization so consumers are forced to use it and many are not even aware that this is the case. So doesn't sit well with me.
I looked on the Levoit website and there is no mention of the term HEPA. This likely means that its not HEPA grade like we see with Philips and Xiaomi air purifiers. Its not as bad as it sound for an air purifiers effectiveness: itsairborne.com/hepa-filters-are-not-needed-67e952792481
The key thing is to get a device that has a removable pre-filter as dog hair will quickly build up. Best without spending too much would be the Winix 5500-2 (US) or Winix Zero (UK and Europe) - they have washable carbon filter, pre-filter and plasmwave that will help with odors. Let me know if you have more questions.
@@Pikmin012 I have tested but the performance at lower sound levels but performance is usually very low. It’s why I try to push people to get bigger as they can be run on lower fan speeds and still clean enough air. Will make sure to show some data in 2025 versions and explain this more.
Hi, great video! I am wondering, I live in a 750 sq. ft. condo and my neighbor smokes and my unit smells like a smokey bar. Which would be better for cig smoke: The Levoit 200s or Levoit 600s (the IQ Air would be too much $) I can stands the smell no longer!! PS. I need something without the Ionizer..Thanks for any help!!
New subscriber here I am learning a lot of your channel. I need to ask you something please. I have a Dyson pure and cool TP09 in my living room and detects lots of VOC but it’s not capable to reduce them too much. Dyson is cool for the features but it’s not a great purifier. I am thinking to put another purifier in the living room. Which one would be better for VOC? Levoit 600s or Coway 250 or 300 ?.The doubt is because this Coway units have more quantity of carbon. Probably this high VOC levels are due that the house was painted 2 months ago AND there are 7!!! Yes 7 factories around,, and the biggest Methane factory in Europe. I have severe asthma and my health has gone extremely worse since I live here. If I had known this I would have never moved here but now I have no choice . I have purchased 2 Winix Zero pro ( using them with plasma off as you recommend) ,2 Levoit 300 S for other rooms and just ordered a Levoit vital 200s for my bedroom as you recommended me in another video. But the worse accumulation is in the living room so I need something extremely powerful to complement my Dyson but in a budget,,, I am spending a fortune in air purification units. Thanks in advance Pd,,, I don’t mind using multiple devices or concerned about noise levels,,, I am rewatching all your videos trying to find a solution but I thing u can help me better. The option between Coway or Levoit is because other devices you recommend are not available in Spain like the IQ air ( not even the Levoit 600s but I can order from Amazon Italy). Thanks for your amazing and informative videos mate I highly appreciate them 🙏
Both the Levoit Core 600S and Coway 250/300 have bonded filters which might create a problem as you may need to replace the carbon more often - same issue with the Dyson. What about using 2 more Winix Zero Pro in that room as they are available in your region with well priced filters and having most the same brand/model will make life a little easier when it comes to filter replacements? The big benefit for VOC is that you can swap out the carbon more regularly until its reduced without having to buy the particle filter as well.
@@HouseFresh Thanks a lot honestly I appreciate you take your time trying to help me. Ok I will do as u recommend and I will let you know. Thanks a lot 🙏🙏
Will a smaller or less expensive air purifier do anything for cigarette smoke? It’s the only reason I’m looking for one. Comes in from neighbours. Was looking at the Winix 5500-2 previously
It depends on how severe the issue is. It's likely worth trying a cheap device like the Winix 5500-2, which has the most carbon in a cheap unit, and using it with its Plasmawave. Hopefully, it's enough, but if not, then you could look at more specialist devices.
@@HouseFresh Thanks for the reply. It seems there’s a lot of misinformation online about purifiers. If I could ask, when it says carbon helps filter the odours of the smoke - does that mean just the smell is handled by carbon, and then the harmful particulates are filtered by the HEPA filter?
@@cadencedoherty9981 Yeah sadly it's full of people saying lots of very different things usually to sell you something overpriced! So just the gases that include VOCs (which cause smell) are captured by the carbon and then the tiny particles are picked up by the HEPA. So for cigarette smoke you need both but many small air purifiers have such small amounts that the carbon becomes used up very quickly.
My coway 400 is awesome. My oldest cat hasn’t been doing so well so she’s in a closet. Needless to say, the coway is really helping with the urine smell.
@@expressfashionman89 have tested a few here housefresh.com/car-air-purifiers/ I would like to try some of the more portable pc fan type designs soon as I beg they could be good and much quieter.
Any particle filter above Merv 13 will work well. Just make sure you get the right cadr to provide at least 4.8 air changes for the room you are using it. Be sure to make sure that you have dealt with the original source of asbestos has been removed/dealt with.
What do you recommend for ALOT of dust particles for 1) living room/dining in a condo 2) 12 x 16 bedrooms in condo, with 8ft ceilings...thank you for all the info & care
Hi Lynne, you didn't mention the size for the dining room but assuming its no bigger than 350 sq ft, then I would get a device like the Vital 200S, Winix 5500-2 or Winix C545 for the living room and then for the bedroom I would choose cheaper/smaller devices like Levoit Vital 100S, Winix A230 or Taotronics AP003 (also called Lorell HEPA 420 in Walmart is $79 at the moment) I'm assuming you want best bang for buck with these choices. If you don't mind spending more money you could get more performance for less found with devices like the Levoit EverestAir/Air Doctor 3000 but they do come with a higher price with less cheap filters but are powerful enough to run on lower fan speeds and still keep your rooms clean. All of these options come with removal pre-filters which will make it much easier to keep on top of cleaning them - dirty pre-fitlers can really reduce performance if not cleaned regularly. Hope that helps and thanks for your comment!

Looks like a ionizer device that has a mode that could lead to lots of ozone. I don’t think it’s worth the risk to use as an air purifier. I don’t think any level of ozone is worth it and would stick to just mechanical filtration like hepa and activated carbon. Hope this helps, I haven’t tested it but this is just from the info I could see online for this device.
Thank you and glad that you appreciated the models we covered - these were those that stood out to us as those that performed well in tests for performance, sound, energy usage and cost. Let me know which unit you decide to go with.
Whats your opinion on smaller Levoit devices? I have small appartment with 18m2 living room and 9m2 bedroom. That Levoit 200s seems big for those rooms. I see in your backgroung Levois 300s I think, is it good?
For me the Levoit Core 300 size is the smallest I would go. Any smaller and the filter costs just cost too much for the amount of air you can clean. I am going to be putting out a video this week about the a device I found on Temu/AliExpress that goes into more detail about my reasoning for avoiding “mini” air purifiers. If the vital 200s is too big then you can look at the vital 100s which is all the same feature but in a small size. Got a review filmed, just need to edit!
@@HouseFresh waiting to see the video of vital 100s. Other thing that I am worry about, is that the filter for vital 200s and 100s are not available on official site of Levoit (polish site) and it is not easy to find them. I have to contact them and ask about it.
Thanks Benjamin! Really appreciat you taking the time to comment. This message me inspires me in our next videos! Hope you subscribe to see our new videos :)
Thank you so much for this valuable information! I am looking for a replacement for the Molekule Pro I currently have which was too expensive and very problematic. 🙏🏻
hey sorry to hear, I have know the filters are quite costly for this device. A good looking device that will be able to clean much more air than the Molekule Pro is the Levoit EverestAir. But can suggest other options if you let me know more about your situation.
@@HouseFresh I live in a high-rise where I'm periodically subjected to second hand weed/cigarette smoke and I have two small dogs - my studio office is about 750 sq ft. The Molekule was good but it had to be replaced because of a defect and you are correct, the replacement filters for this model are very expensive. I was looking at the Levoit Core® 600S Smart Air Purifier. Would that be a good option?
I installed a generic filter (almost half the price of a genuine one) into my Levoit 300S after 6 months of use. How efficient are these generic filters compared to the originals. Also I blew through my original filter with pressurised air like I do to my car air filter. Is it usable still?
I haven't had a chance to test many generic filters but I did recently test one for the Alen 45i with a filter from Pureberg and got the exact same result when we tested it in our test room. The fact that many DIY devices use non-HEPA grade fitlers and perform very well makes me thing that even if a generic filter isn't the same grade as the OEM filter it may still perform as well as single pass filtration is not that important with an air purifier. There is a great video on here that goes into a ton of detail on this: ua-cam.com/video/gaQTYrisieA/v-deo.html I will do lots more testing with generic filters to prove this idea but my recommendation is that you should save your money and go with generic . For cleaning the filters, I would avoid using pressured air as it could damage the filter and that has been shown to effect performance, same with washing it. I would stick with new generic filters vs trying to clean existing ones. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!
Hey this was software that we developed internally to connect with the PurpleAir API. We were thinking about releasing as open source if there is interest. Let me know if you need more technical details and I can speak to the developer who made it.
There are specialist devices from Austin air and allerair but they cost quite a bit. >$600 a good budget option with washable carbon is the Winix 5500-2. Worth trying before going down the high end route .
I’m having a baby in September and looking for a good air purifier! We live off a dirt road and have two cats so it gets really dusty and stuffy. We have 2 small levoit air purifiers that just don’t cut it even with dusting and vacuuming. Hoping to find a purifier that’s got some power to it!😁
Congratulations on the new baby 👶 Air purifier brands don’t make it easy as they often exaggerate room sizes so makes it super confusing for consumers. One of my recent videos has some good general tips to help you choose: ua-cam.com/video/nE3u-2EyW-s/v-deo.htmlsi=fhZMpduulnkPQ6vs
Great video! When talking about a small apartment/studio aprox 350 sq ft with open spaces, which option would you recommend? What about the IQAir Atem Desk and AirDoctor 2000?
thank you. For this space assuming you have 8ft ceiling you will need 224 cfm for 4.8 air changes per hour. I tested the IQAir Atem car model and it was the best we saw for the car but did feel very high priced for the low level of CADR so wouldn't reccomend for your situation. If you like Air Doctor I would look at the 3000 housefresh.com/airdoctor-ad3000/ as that would have enough CADR for your space and you could leave it on a lower fan speed for reduced noise levels. But you could also look at any of my top picks from this video like the Levoit Vital 200S and Winix 5500-2 as they are both suitable for this room space. If it was me I would go for a device with a higher CADR like the Levoit Core 600S or EverestAir as you could keep your air clean with a lower fan speed so less noisy but would cost more initially. Hope that helps!
@@HouseFresh Great thank you for answering! Now, considering I live in a small space, size and aesthetic do matter, so considering that would you still go for Levoit 600 S or EverestAir?
@@mariakuri1884 If asthetics matter, I would much prefer the EverestAir as it also has a removable pre-filter that makes it much easier to keep on top of cleaning the pre-filter. I actually have my review for this device coming out on Friday so keep an eye on that. The main benefit over the 600S is that it's cheaper.

I found you guys because of a publication regarding your problems with Google. You're definitely one of the good ones, I hope things pick up for you.
Thank you
I bought an air purifier a while ago and had to send it back because the air that came out was warm.
Is having a HEPA filter important if my main concern is mold spores? The Levoy seems like a solid choice, except for its lack of that.
Dude this video is amazing, thank you, I’m seriously impressed by your diligence
Thank you! Getting comments like this makes the effort worthwhile! Hope you found the right air purifier for you.

Which purifier to you recommend for a room 60cm2 and one that works best against dust mites ? @@HouseFresh
Which one did you decide on?
Great idea and will add to future versions. Thanks for your kind words .
I'm looking for the TaoTronics APOO3, but I can't find it anywhere. Ebay only has filters. They do have the APOO7, any input on that one? Thanks
Really annoying it now seems that you can't find it anywhere - have a done a video about this on the channel - ua-cam.com/video/HwrAv4Vah0s/v-deo.html
Be aware the AP007 is not as powerful at 150 CFM.
Have you tested any vortex products? Interested in one but unsure about purifying performance - cheers
Not heard of but share with me the model name and I can have a look for you and add to testing if it makes sense .
I am going with the IQair simply because it works best with smoke. Con's the price, not sure if I want to invest that much in a purifier , however I'm tired of the cigarette smoke in the house .
There isn't anything like this on the market that has big carbon filters and good power for HEPA. Let me know how you get on with your IQAir.
I saw that it had a great price of $129.99 on Levoit.com, which seems great for 312 cfm CADR you get: www.anrdoezrs.net/9b108uoxuowBDCCHHCCFLBDHHIFHEE?url=https%3A%2F%2Flevoit.com%2Fproducts%2Flv-h134-tower-air-purifier

Do you suggest an air purifier with humidifier? And is it better or not?
Dyson does this housefresh.com/dyson-ph03-air-purifier-and-humidifier-review/ but much better value to get separate air purifier and humidifier.
can you review inova air e8? AU based filter.

If you can I would get a mid size device like these for both rooms and you could just use the one in the smaller room on a lower fan speed which will reduce the time you need to replace filter/energy usage.
hi, what is good for person have lung cancer? the workplace is a car painting workshop. please suggest the good in budget. tq
For the workplace you might want to use a respirator as any air purifier won't be able to remove all gases and particles quick enough plus much cheaper.

What about Philiips range? Or Dyson?
I'm a fan of the 3000i although its a bit pricey. All the Dyson devices I have looked at are quite overpriced for the air cleaning performance they provide but then they are also combo units so provide fan/heater/humidifer functions aswell. Can see them here: housefresh.com/?s=Dyson

Hi
I have copd and I'm looking to buy the best air purifier I can, the problem is that I need one that can remove as many irritants as possible and whilst I found the video really useful I'd be very interested to know which ones help with formaldehyde removal.
This list should give you plenty of options: ua-cam.com/video/pEGpgtxtUOU/v-deo.html

Why only test the filtering at the highest fan speed? That settings is not going to be used anyway since it will create too much noise.
We are now retesting at performance with fan speed less than 45dB. Will bring out soon on 2025. It’s good feedback.
Bedroom I like something I can switch off lights and run quiet. Smart air sa600 is worth a look. Although higher filter prices than Winix/levoit.

I cant find the levoit vital 200s in the uk.
Sorry for some reason Levoit hasn't released it yet in the UK. I would look into something like the Winix Zero S and it is available in the UK.

What do you recommend for two bed? Two bath upstairs dealing with a lot of allergies issues, sneezing and coughing

@@HouseFresh aaa ok2, coincidentally SA600 is also available in my country. I will find out soon. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.

How about big brands like Dyson and Philips?
I find the Dyson devices over-priced for the air cleaning power they give but many people like the design and they usually have extra functions like a fan/heater/humidifier that isn't available with other brands.

Great video. Glad I found this before buying one. Is there a recommendation for heavy dust and pet dander?
Most particle based filters will deal with this. I would look at the Levoit Vital 200S or the Winix 5500-2. You could run the Winix 5500-2 without carbon for improved speed if you don't care about Odors.
Wait for Black Friday as will be soon and decent discounts.

hello, also looking at the winix A230. when i Google it here in Australia results come up as 'Compact 4-stage Air Purifier' is this correct. thanks
Yes outside of the US, it uses a different name but has all the same specs .
Full name is Winix compact zero
Will you test the brand Airpura?
I do want to look at them but I don't have a great test for VOC'/Odors yet so I expect I will see similar performance to other high carbon filters like the Austin Air Healthmate that have much higher costs for reducing particles. I have heard good things about these devices when looking at VOC's and odors but do think they are quite specialized and likely not a good choice for the average consumer. Once I have a good test for odors and VOCs i will look at them.

Hey what is the best air purifier for odor remover (cooking smells)

Should we care about the HEPA rating being stripped from the 200S, should we rather look at HEPA rated units?
@@paulmcqueen4749 not a good luck for Levoit as they shouldn’t have said it was hepa but I wouldn’t worry too much as the filters still performed well at removing tiny particles in our test and the Aham cadr report.
Do any of these work for mold?
Yeah any particle filter should work with mold but I would try to fix the humidity issues first with a dehumidifier or other solution.
I was looking at a Levoit model and a few reviews said they were a lot of EMFs. One guy said it was emitting 45x the amount of EMF than their microwave. Not sure what to think, and are they all like this?
I bought an emf reader let me see if I can detect higher readings for the Levoit devices over other brands .
@@HouseFreshany update on this one yet ? 🙏
I hope allah “god” protects your baby daughter and may he grant her the strength to overcome and a speedy recovery. Will remember you in my prayers.
@@HouseFresh Thanks and will look forward to this info in future reviews.
I would look into the Winix Zero S , I have a review on here and it’s very much available in the UK. I am working on a UK best of video 😅
That’s really helpful, thank you so much.
@@HouseFresh sorry, me again! I have looked at the Winix zero and although it looks great I think it may be a bit big for the room. It is quite a large bedroom but still only about 5m x 5m so is there something you could recommend that is for slightly smaller areas? Many thanks
smaller then worth checking out the Winix zero compact or A230 (USA)
I don’t like to recommend much smaller devices as they often cost a lot more long term. housefresh.com/levoit-core-200s-review/ maybe this as it’s a little smaller?
I have several Oransi Mod purifiers and am happy with them. The filters are reasonably priced.
Thanks for letting me know. which model would you recommend I test from them?
So Levoit is a top dog in these air purifiers?
That and Winix are top for most situations.
Would you put 2 filters in a open concept house of 1000sf?
I like to get a very large one for the central area and if required then smaller devices for the individual areas.
You can work out what CADR you need for the space here: housefresh.com/cadr-calculator/
Hope that helps!
Do you recommend another cig smoke air purifier. The iq air is too expensive for me. What is a good budget/ balue pick for cig smoke
I would recommend trying something like the Winix 5500-2 as it has washable carbon pellets and you could use the plasmawave.
What are your thoughts on the Blue air units? Have you run tests on those yet?
They offer prertty good air cleaning for $ spend and I have published a few reviews on my site over the years:
housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-211-review/
housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-411-review/
housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-311-auto-review/
housefresh.com/blueair-blue-pure-411-plus-review/
My issue is that you can't disable the ionization so consumers are forced to use it and many are not even aware that this is the case.
So doesn't sit well with me.
Is it true that Levoit filters are not HEPA?
I looked on the Levoit website and there is no mention of the term HEPA. This likely means that its not HEPA grade like we see with Philips and Xiaomi air purifiers.
Its not as bad as it sound for an air purifiers effectiveness: itsairborne.com/hepa-filters-are-not-needed-67e952792481
Impressive video. Thanks for sharing the information. Which make and model would be the best for pet (dog) allergy stuff?
The key thing is to get a device that has a removable pre-filter as dog hair will quickly build up. Best without spending too much would be the Winix 5500-2 (US) or Winix Zero (UK and Europe) - they have washable carbon filter, pre-filter and plasmwave that will help with odors. Let me know if you have more questions.
These guys are the legit ones. The holy grail.

Thanks in advance
Pd,,, I don’t mind using multiple devices or concerned about noise levels,,, I am rewatching all your videos trying to find a solution but I thing u can help me better.

What do you recommend for ALOT of dust particles for 1) living room/dining in a condo 2) 12 x 16 bedrooms in condo, with 8ft ceilings...thank you for all the info & care
Hi Lynne, you didn't mention the size for the dining room but assuming its no bigger than 350 sq ft, then I would get a device like the Vital 200S, Winix 5500-2 or Winix C545 for the living room and then for the bedroom I would choose cheaper/smaller devices like Levoit Vital 100S, Winix A230 or Taotronics AP003 (also called Lorell HEPA 420 in Walmart is $79 at the moment)
I'm assuming you want best bang for buck with these choices.

Great review. Really like the models that are not usually reviewed.

There is a great video on here that goes into a ton of detail on this: ua-cam.com/video/gaQTYrisieA/v-deo.html
I will do lots more testing with generic filters to prove this idea but my recommendation is that you should save your money and go with generic .
For cleaning the filters, I would avoid using pressured air as it could damage the filter and that has been shown to effect performance, same with washing it. I would stick with new generic filters vs trying to clean existing ones.
Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!
