    Oh I'm so so excited now. I got back into art and my love for it. My bf bought for me the Derwent 72 set of watercolour pencils. I can't wait to use them, I love the wonderful different impressions, tones and hues that you can create with them. I also got bought some wonderful Derwent sketching graphite pencils from the 9B gradient right through. 24 of them. I am super, super excited. Thank you for this wonderful video ma'am.

      Gamer 89 -- Your comment just makes me feel like you don't really get "art". If you think everything has to look like a photograph, grab a camera.

    Very helpful video. Thank you. Having just bought a set of Derwent WC pencils, I was a bit dismayed because many YT reviews of them are quite negative. This reassured me a lot. Thank you.

    I searched for a vid about these pencils and couldn't find one, so ordered the Coloursoft instead. The Academy are less expensive. Maybe I'll buy some in the future, but I'll never be as good as this demonstrator!

    hi. beautiful showcase of the pencils! I am just wondering what paper are u using? I found that using watercolour pencils on watercolour paper or any paper - absorbs soo much water and colors are extremely dull afterward. also due to this I can't blend so much when colours are wet (dry to quickly even after saturating the paper with water..). any ideas what paper would work better with watercolour pencils to give them a better (easier) watery effect? that would be fantastic ! thank you !!

    • @RebeDrawsStuff
      @RebeDrawsStuff 8 років тому +1

      Hello, I know I'm not the lovely lady from the video but a type of paper that work very well with watercolours is fabriano but also I would recommend that you use watercolour blocks and student pads to start.
      Buy one pad and divide it in small pieces (post card size) to practice. Also keep in mind the weight of the paper. Your paper will not crumble too much if you pick a 140 lb paper but remember that you first you should stretch it (there are some good UA-cam videos here about stretching watercolour paper).
      I hope this helps and I'm sorry if my reply came a little bit late.

    I really noticed how the first lay down of colour that the tip broke and the other colours used were crumbling. ..

      It's probably the Derwent water brush, you can buy them at lots of places online.

      @Annabells117 10 років тому

      muskndusk where can the water brush be purchased online in USA?? I have had several of the pentel aquash but the tip ends become frayed over time. Maybe I'm using it too much, or incorrectly, but I don't have this problem with normal brushes. Is there a better water brush that i can buy online or in the New York area? Thanks

      Derwent is a UK company, but you might find a seller on Amazon who is prepared to ship to the US, at a cost.

    F.Y.I. D.I.Y. : Copy places can and will print a 10% ghost line print onto thin smooth watercolor paper from a dark line sketch ;pen or pencil. It can then be colored in later. ;=)

      Well it is a straight-to-color sketch and she only uses representative colors to demonstrate how pencil sketching watercolor works. Personally, I'd end up with a big glop of water and muddy colors.

      Joey Jimz The best paintings leave it to the imagination. This is an awesome painting (pencil picture, whatever you want to call it) If you need to see everything replicated 'exactly' then it's cos you've got no imagination 'just sayin'

      +Joey Jimz why taking a photo rules, it gets exactly the same image (not without some minor shortcomings like an artistic value but who cares)
