I had such a hard time choosing a color because I wanted it to be just right but I think we picked a good one! Gorgeous color and you could paint my house any day, you are so good! I am 68 now and my hands are not as steady so I don't paint my own house anymore but that color makes me want to paint. I got tickled that your husband thought they were the same color as I know most men are color blind, I know my husband and son are. Love that room!

Ahhh right?!
You can always add molding or trim to the outside of the to-short doors. Look at any of your antiques and you'll understand what I'm talking about. The other option would be to "inset" the panel (door) and do an overlap of trim. Use your antiques to guide you when doing a build. You have done a great job and should be proud of yourself!

I absolutely love the bookshelves on each side of the fireplace. It added so much character and charm to the room! I am still digesting the paint color. I think I’ve lived with ivory, linen and off-white for so long, it’s just such a change. You’ve done an absolutely beautiful job, but truthfully, I like everything you do. Thank you for sharing.❤

You are amazing! The bookshelves look beautiful and like they’ve always been there. What I remember when doing molding is - inside corner, each piece different angle, outside corner, same angle. I don’t know if that makes sense but it helps my brain. You are so right that the angles really mess with your processing. Excellent job!!

I am so impressed with your skill! I have been doing these projects for years and I am still afraid of crown and have not ever made my own doors! My last crown project had two outside corners, two argument with my husband and I nearly cried! You are killing it!

Beautiful color. Your bookshelves are great. I think I would have left the Mantle white though because the wonderful details on it just fade in the background now. Looks great, but I wouldn’t have painted the fireplace, reason being it’s an artifact with original wood. Have you seen restoration nation on UA-cam, they restore these original pieces. Great job on the room 👍

Wow … it’s quite the transformation … looking forward to when you’ve finally completed the room. Definitely the bookshelves fit right in. The chair rail and whatever else you decide to add in is really going to add to the detail in the room. You did an awesome job on the crown moulding!
Don’t chuck those first doors that you made … you just might find use for them elsewhere in the house!

As your crown moulding isn't that big, you could make a jig to hold the crown moulding how it fits against the wall / ceiling. That way you can cut the moulding the right way up then to make it easier for yourself.

Ahh yay! I was looking at ikea too but because my measurements were wonky I decided to just do this and it was much simpler than I thought it would be! You’ve got this!

I like the fireplace and bookcase as a feature wall, but the whole room in the same color looks so gloomy and smaller now. I know you love it and is giving you joy.
I promise it isn’t as gloomy in real life. It’s hard to film because the windows suck all the light from the camera!

It’s wild! Even my dad who built a fire kitchen, work shop, add on, etc, couldn’t quite get it! So it’s definitely a skill! The two videos I linked were very helpful!!
