    Had the exact same thing happen to me today where both bushings broke. I wasn't sure how to get to the shifter connection under the console so this video was very helpful. Thanks!

    As I was fixing the cable bushing for the transmission shifter, I managed to break the bushings on the transfer case cable (both ends). Wow! I am sooooo glad you posted this video! I was a little panicky when that transfer case lever went limp and my Jeep wouldn’t come out of neutral.
    So after watching this video, I was able to put both cable ends back on the posts and move the transfer case back into two wheel drive. So now I can drive to the parts store and beg for some more cable bushings to fix the transfer case cable! I did everything like you said and even used a big socket to hold up the console off the floor! Thanks again for this video! It helped me so much!

    Tip- watch for the old piece- just a white circle in my case. The new one would not snap in place because of the leftover broken circle I failed to notice at first...... Thanks to the creator of this video too!

    Thanks for posting this. I just found the bushings on Amazon and then found your video on how to install them. Mechanic wanted me to buy a new cable for a ridiculous amount and said the clips don’t come separately. Even told me aftermarket cables don’t sell the clips/bushings separately.
    Anyway, just subbed to your channel. Thanks again!!

    Mine broke as well but it was the transmission cable. I’m guessing the 4x4 shifter will be next. Thanks for your video. Love Jeeps ❤

    On a 07 Wrangler Unlimited JK the doorman 14797 does not stay on the bottom spot. It fits snug into the rod hole but does come loose from the nub. This was the only video I saw saying to use it. All the other options are giving me a hassle to get on.

      Possible there is rust or something bent? Mine still working to this day

      @@MajorWeakness what year jeep? It just did not stay snug and came undone after just riding around the yard a bit and 10-15 changes from park to reverse to drive. I've seen some where the nub is pointing horizontal, but ours is vertical so i imagine it's easier to fall down off.

    so weird mine both broke at the same time too! Since I have an account at advance stopped by an grabbed a assorted pack those bushings from the help isle. Ran under 10$. They worked for the transmission shifting cable.

      Both get brittle with age and when one breaks it puts stress on the other brittle one therefore common to break at same time is what I'm hearing

    Just happened to my jeep this weekend while in the bush. Ended up in Neutral unable to get out. Fortunately a few hours later managed to manually move the shaft under the vehicle. Jeep know this is a problem and could cost some a lot of money in towing fees. Something so simple made of shit.

      And be aware of your transmission shifter bushing if you have an automatic. Same thing will happen

    The only part I wanted is the part you left out. How did you get the bushing on under the jeep? Skid plate off there still isn't much room. I'm struggling with a small "C" clamp but I'm close. Needle nose vise grips/pliers?

    • @MajorWeakness
      @MajorWeakness  2 роки тому

      I used a small flathead screwdriver to pull it through the eye hole

      Try softening the bushing in hot water first. That helps.
