    I know that I'm a little late on this video, lo. But speaking of Walmart no longer price matching, they now have a system that is so great!! You download their app, then after shopping at Walmart, scan or type in some numbers off of your receipt. If they find what you bought cheaper, they will now put it on an e gift card! In the last 3 years we have had over 800 YES 800 dollars on our e gift card. We leave the money on it until Christmas and use it to buy ALOT of our Christmas items!! Fantastic way to get the " price match"! Try it, it really is great!! And No, lol I do not work at Walmart!!! Lol

      @@johnnyswag2802 I didn't think so, so I looked it up, and while it doesnt talk about freezing from fresh, this taste of home article says "Technically, hard-cooked eggs can be frozen, but they won't taste great. The whites become tough and rubbery, and they release excess water when they're thawed. The cooked yolks freezeexceptionally well, though, so we recommend eating the boiledwhites fresh and freezing the yolks by themselves in an air-tight bag." Good luck!

    Love that you dice things up and 'hide' them in sauces. For years, my mom used to puree her tomato sauce to hide all the veggies so I didn't know I was eating them. Also, every meat was chicken regardless of what it was so I couldn't say I didn't like it without trying it. lol.

      I have to hide things because my husband is like a child. He only likes corn and peas. If I make carrots I have to give them to him raw or doctor them up with either some brown sugar or pure maple syrup. I think I'll start hiding things like spinach, etc. when I make sauce or other meals. Thanks for reminding me to do this. 😀

    If you put a little milk in the cream cheese after it is frozen and defrosted then run a mixer through it and it is a nice texture again.

    I'm Canadian and we go over to the states just to buy $200 worth of boneless skinless chicken! (Fill up the freezer) Our sale price is around $4.99 lbs 😲😲😲so at $1.99 plus exchange its such a great deal!!

    • @Tzara86
      @Tzara86 6 років тому +2

      Kathy D'Accriscio everything is more expensive in Canada, and they take 52% or more of our income in taxes. It's ludacris. Unfortunately, the time and gas you spend travelling to the states with exchange, you'd likely break even. I find that with everything I try to buy online. A lot of things I refuse to buy because there isn't a cheaper Canadian option. One example are those subscription boxes. They are mostly American. So a $35 box for Americans, add $15 shipping and exchange rate, works out to be $80. Like no.

    If you rinse your berries in water with a little vinegar in them and dry them off, they keep fresh much longer in your fridge. I love watching your grocery haul and comparing prices. I shop in Asda which is owned by Walmart. Sorry, I live in Scotland UK. just an example for chicken fillets I pay a minimum of $2.54 per lb. Minced beef is about the same price, so I spend wayyyy more than you do on almost everything, good old UK lol

    I love watching you. You have a lot of joyful energy. Thank you. Also, I only have six children at home, and have three freezers, plus the freezer on my refrigerator, and they are stuffed! I mean, to do what you do, I'd have to get another freezer! :D I have one freezer for bread, one for meat, the other freezer has leftovers, fruit, and all that, plus sometimes bread. I find myself cleaning out the freezers all the time, and thinking, "why did I even think of keeping this?". lol. And, I make the mistake a lot of not labeling, yikes, that's horrible, you are right, I do forget what it is. Any how, I love your refrigerator, the one in your kitchen, what kind is it, what brand, and do you like the lay out, the pro's and con's of it, would be helpful. I'm on the look out for a bigger refrigerator, I'm thinking like yours, that will last, as they are spendy. Thanks!

    we have laying hens when we want pancakes or just an omelette our kiddos we have three and one on the way can go gather eggs and we can have fresh when we want!. we eat/use a lot of eggs. we also deer hunt every year and process our own meat and that gives us quite a bit of meat every year this year we also raised a pig and just took it to butcher we will give meat away to our families and have tons leftover. also in the spring we grow some veggies our tomatoes come back every year and we don't touch them they just grow like crazy all around our house. cucumbers, peppers - jalapeño and bell peppers, watermelon, okra and few herbs like basil are things we like and eat all the time and they are easy for me to grow I do not have a green thumb lol. you can also pickle anything okra, cucumbers and jar things that will help them last longer!. just some frugal tips! love your channel!

    I see someone else already said part of what I was going to say. Walmart replaced price matching with a system called "Savings Catcher". One point they made was it reduced time standing in line waiting for people to go through sales papers. You can do it on a desktop on the walmart website, or the phone app, much quicker. And, you don't have to type in the numbers. You can just scan the QR code, from the walmart app. It takes a few days to process then they will send an email to whatever email address you used to sign up for the app, letting you know if you have any money coming back to you! It does the stores within 25 miles of you. I just checked my app and it's showing I've gotten refunds of over 590. some odd dollars since I started doing it. We're just two people so families may save more. You should try it.

      Years ago I had the same issue. Have you consider canning food? Or ferment some of it like pickles?
      We can vegetables, loads of tomato purée, salsa, fruits and even cooked soup. If something goes wrong in your city like an electricity cut, you have no worries about your food being in the freezer.
      There are people who even can meat. I don't do it but I know that the alternative exists.

    I take my frozen cream cheese, defrost it in the fridge then it is crumbly......so I whip it with my stick blender and.......back to normal whipped consistency so it's easy to spread on bagels. Good as NEW.

    You can freeze peppers too. I’ve learned to freeze a bunch of stuff from my Caribbean parents. It’s standard to have a huge deep freezer in your house in our culture 😹😹

    To keep your cheese bricks from going crumbly when freezing them - leave them in the shrink wrap they come in. When pulling from the freezer - do not put in the fridge right away. Instead place the unopened brick on a plate (so you do not get condensation melt on your counter) and leave it alone - leave it there for 2-3 days. Cheese is okay to have at room temp for a short few days. *Warning* - when you do open it, there will be some cheese oil on the outside. Place in your fridge and chill like you normally would cheese. You can grate it, slice it, cut it - however you want to use cheese. So it is possible to freeze cheese and not have it go crumbly.

    Groceries are my biggest expense. I am a family of 4 and budget 150 a week. We don’t buy meat at the grocery store but a meat market. Better quality and way less fat. I appreciate that your grocery haul is full of fresh items and not processed junk🤗

    So when you break off the banana not covering the ends of them is what makes them ripe and faster but since they eat a lot and so fast. So when you break off the banana not covering the ends of them is what makes them ripe and faster but since they eat a lot and so fast. Also with asparagus if you put a cup of water in your fridge or sometimes even a pitcher if you have enough and I do this with celery as well. and you did say that you put a paper towel I believe it was you on another video but if you open up your lettuce or spinach and you put a paper towel and you flip it upside down that is much better and I'm totally using your trick with putting your containers upside down to make it more airtight so it lasts longer so thank you for that trick.

      You must have watched the TLC episode. Obviously things are exaggerated in editing, to make our lifestyle more entertaining for TV, unfortunately. So always keep that in mind with “reality” TV! That being said, everything we did on the show, we find helpful when it comes to living frugally… Maybe just not as extreme as they made it look. For example, we certainly teach our kids about portion sizes. We teach them to only take one handful of a snack, or to start with a half bowl, so we don’t waste food. With toilet paper, we definitely teach our kids how many squares is appropriate, to help cut down on clogged toilets 🤣. But, do we ration food and toilet paper? No, not in the way they make it look on the show.

    Questions: What about a carton of egg whites? Have you ever froze them? 2) In regards to milk do you freeze only unopened gallons?

    • @WeberIMayRoam
      @WeberIMayRoam 6 років тому

      I have frozen unopened gallons AND opened gallons (depending on the container, I like to pour out some milk so the jug doesn't bust; I drink the milk, of course!). If I purchased cream for a fancy dish and only use some of it, I throw it in the freezer to use at another time. Cream comes out separated and you have to shake the hell out of it to get it to recombine, but it works just fine!
