I was a pessimist BUT I TRIED IT AND OMG!!!! Life changing!!! It works!!! One month and I could pay a debt at the end of the month!!! I’m rewatching to stay on track!!! Thanks Jordan!!!!
We started using this method at the beginning of this year and holy cow, if you stick to it, it works. So far this year we have... paid off three credit cards completely, survived 2 cars breaking down (over $3k in repairs), bought new interior floors, AND we found out we were pregnant -we only have $1200 left to pay our birthing center for the birth (and I'm due in December!). My husband is a teacher and I'm a dance teacher (love my job but I make close to nothing). By Friday or Saturday, if we're tight on the budget, it kind of becomes a game - I keep my husband updated on how much we have left and it really gets us on the same page. I highly highly recommend this!
People in the US have to pay for giving birth?? What... In Canada, healthcare is free.. I've been through 2 kids and I can't imagine paying for the natural process of birth especially when kids cost money already and you make less money for a whole year of maternity leave on top of that
Started doing this a month ago and it's working so well for me. My one change was doing an envelope a week, to completely stop myself getting tempted to borrow from the next week. More than anything else, it's been a revelation looking at how all the little purchases add up. I'm pretty sure it's helping me stick to healthy eating too, as I'm way less likely to allow myself to spend the extra money on a treat at the staff canteen like I was at least three days a week before...
This is so simple with mind blowing results! I saw this video last week and started applying it right away. My oh my! This style of budgeting helps me to be mindful and stick to buying the needs only. Last week I already had extra money to save. This video came to me at the right time. You are such a a blessing! ❤️🙏
Another psychological trick that works with this for me is that I have the weekly budget start over on Friday. Basically it's nice for the budget to start on the weekend so that you have money for the weekend and then if you run out of money on the third day, Monday, you only have to wait until Friday, which is WAY easier than waiting through the weekend until Monday. Otherwise if you started on Monday and you ran out on the third day, it would be Thursday, and you would have to wait a depressing weekend without money until Monday. It's the exact same amount of days, but having it reset on Friday is just easier mentally since I think we are are used to waiting for and expecting fun and liberation on the weekend and we are used to waiting for that during the week.
Minimalist Efficient Mom yup! I do this all the time! I get paid every Friday, weekly so this method works like a charm for me lol. I always budget for any random purchases on weekend or fun money
My husband took a pretty good pay cut a couple of months ago. While looking up budgeting ideas on UA-cam I came across this video. We started this budgeting plan and let me tell you it works! I am a homeschooling mom of 5 kids so I needed it to be super simple. We are making less, saving more, giving more....I can’t even believe it. Thank you, Jordan!
Hello Jordan I am back at this video again. I used your methods all of 2019 and literally gained thousands of dollars in my bank accounts as well as paying thousands of dollars of debt off. You literally made me so rich I completely stopped the budgeting and started spending sooooo much during the pandemic 😂. Now I have new money goals and if I'm gonna meet them I gotta start this method over again. Thank you for changing my life!!
Personal finance is mostly psychological. If you can learn to live on less, save/invest more of your money, then you will be ahead of the majority of the population.
Matt Brown my DH thinks this way too. I however have a hard time to "not" overspend, and I believe a lot of others are this way. Sometimes we need some kind of system and support at least in the beginning if not longer. My DH easily doesn't spend or overspend. I agree with you that is is psychological but it's still a challenge for those who can't just not spend.
Good luck with the cost of living and reaccuring bills. If they gave you 6 months off mortgage/rent or a car payment then you'd get caught up pretty well. Nothing's changed. Everything goes up instead of wages. Homelessness is the huge black eye on the powers that be.
Girl, I love this so much! Last weekend I asked my other half to try this and although he was really skeptical about it, he agreed. I think that was mainly to shut me up though. 😂 He was so happy today though when we sat down and did our end of the week summarising. We had a tiny amount left to put into our savings envelope (just over £2), but we succeeded. He then went quite happily to withdraw our £200 for this coming week. £120 for groceries and £40 each for "other." I have a bit of a spending problem that this has become the first step in changing. You've made me very popular with my sweet man, thank you. 😍
hey, I was looking for someone whos using £, how did you convert $100 for your husband and yourself? did you give yourself £100 or you converted $100 to £?
Thanks for the information! I feel this is manageable. One thing that has been helping me stay within our grocery budget is using Walmart’s free grocery pickup. I make a menu, add the groceries (along with paper, cleaning, hygiene items) in my cart. I pay online and pick them up without ever walking into the store. I shop our local grocery and Aldi for specials, especially meats and seasonal produce. It has curbed my impulse spending!
That’s so smart! I need to stop having my Walmart groceries delivered. I tip big too! Picking them up and having a meal plan as part of your list is genius!
Most successful people started from nothing. They didn’t wait for the opportunity to knock but created the opportunity on their own by working hard. Thankgoodness i found Mr carlos kingston a pro forex trader, now I have been trading with him for about 7 mounths now and I earn up to $15,000 weekly. i guess this is the epic start to a new chapter in my life. I just feel like more evevryone should be made aware of this opportunity, feel free to contact him @carlos_1uptrades on Instergram his indeed a genius
I really needed this video. As I was setting up my budget I had no idea what a reasonable amount was per week for consumables....I needed a starting point and this was the answer I needed. I am single and have 2 budget categories....one is bills and debt snowball. That is money that stays in the checking account to pay bills and doesn't get touched. The other is my weekly needs. That is in cash, in an envelope in my wallet. I write on it what I need to buy each week and keep receipts in it once the purchases are made. Envelope empty? Then it doesn't get purchased until the next week. Boom. Done. Knocking out debt.
I have tried provably 10-15 methods of budgeting and this is the ONLY ONE I’ve ever Been able to use. What’s even more than that I’ve been able to SUCCESSFULLY use. Bear in mind I’m only a week in, but week two is going strong :)
....? No matter how many are in your family...whether you're single or a Large family...it's STILL 3 envelopes (#1. Family - utilities, rent/mortgage, car pmt. etc.....#2. Grocery....#3. "Other"...) It's THAT simple!
Heidi Robinson she did say in the video for the grocery budget to start at $300. Then when you get to 4 people or more you add $100 per person. She was really fast and short in Saying that. I agree though it would be super nice to have a 1 - 2 person budget discussion.
I LOOVE THIS!!! A handwritten budgeting system that works!! I'm a millennial who dislikes all this "app fandom" I have to hand write my budgeting to really track myself. I AM SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!! THANK YOU JORDAN!! Excited to subscribe to your channel and see what else I can learn from you. You're an angel!!
When I first saw this headline I thought "oh no, not this envelope budget things again!" but then was pleasantly surprised. And I agree with you, that other envelope budget planning thing is not sustainable & you do constantly borrow from one envelope to the next! Good simple idea here!
We've been using this method for several months. It works great and is so simple. We start our week on Friday so we have all our "money" available for the weekend. That one tweak made it even better for us.
Hi Jordan! Please do a detailed video explaining what you did to get rid of $15,000.00 worth of debt only making $31,000.00. Can you do a Mock Budget showing what you made back then and how much you paid for food, bills, etc!! That is amazing! I would love to see what you did to make that happen!
I did a video once explaining how we paid off $31k in 18 months, you work like a dog until your mess is cleaned up! It's exhausting, but worth it in the end.
it would be so cool if you made an app that would help use organize this, to auto generate the dates of the month and then give us a sub total. I would buy the app!
lsmiles247 totally agree!!! I hate paper and any receipts I get I throw them away because is just more clutter in my purse. I hate carrying cash and I just love online everything. I work for a bank so really learning how to use a credit card is important. Not having one is also bad. Just learn how to make money off the credit card instead of them making money off you.
Risosi1515 Just make a album in your phone. make a picture of all the receipts and organize them in different months/weeks. this way you wil never have those receipts just laying in your purse. I do this, and it totally works. (sorry for the bad English, I'm from the Netherlands)
I've found WM is upping their game with prices and you can use coupons there. Aldi's sizes are shrinking I found on cereal. Also things like half and half, cream cheese etc are cheaper at WM than Aldi. I always loved Aldi but now I am wondering if it's the best deal anymore :(
lsmiles247 an app wouldn't work for me personally. I've tried. I can't be bothered to make sure I add the purchase after the fact. having an envelope that is STARING me in the face when I open my wallet may have a shot.
My husband and I have been doing this for 5 weeks and we have NEVER stuck to a budget or budgeting system this long! Thank you!!! We have an envelope for Groceries ($60) and "Other" ($20) and then we each get $20 of spending money for the week. (And $75 for gas but we put that on our debit cards for convenience and because we don't often go over.) THANK YOU!! I link this video on a lot of our Budget Buddies videos whenever we mention borrowing side to side but not top to bottom :)
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for sharing this budgeting system. I just got my first well paying job and have no clue how to budget effectively. This gives me hope that I, as well as my fellow recent grads, can save enough to pay off student loan debts and start saving for life. Thanks again! You rock!
So this is what I do. When hubby gets paid, I pay our bills, I put a set amount of money into savings, then we live on what's left. When he gets paid again, what ever was left in checking when that check went in, ($50 or $250) that goes into savings. I work part time and my entire check goes into savings. I keep a little in for fun stuff but most goes into savings We have no credit card debt and our house is paid for
I also started taking out gas money from my check, added to my remaining balance from the last check until I reached $200 (the amount of money I can safely go through every two weeks,) and deposited the leftover into my savings instead of only doing a flat rate of, say, $20 a check.
Well... I mean... If you don't have a house to pay for... That makes saving and budgeting ridiculously easy. Our mortgage is $2000/month and that's for a modest 4 bedroom in California.
Clearly, I am tardy to the party. However, I am super grateful I came across your video. I have really struggled with this concept and realized something drastic had to be done. Thanks so much for the clarity. I had been doing the monthly grocery shopping and that was honestly just not working. This makes it so much more easier to adopt and not overwhelming as the monthly process seemed to me. Thanks for this.
Tried the original envelope system with all of the different envelopes.. dismal failure. I too was juggling, juggling, juggling. Using one envelope system seems so much easier and less stressful. Thank you! 💜
Jordan your ideas have helped so much. I would love to see a video of how you guys paid down the debt on $31,000/year income, if you haven't done one already.
This is so important! If you want to succeed, you need to create a budget. Without a budget, you lack focus and direction. Budgets not only allow you to take control of your financial direction; it also provides you a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding.
I'm at 9:40 into this video and am already rethinking my entire approach to "spending". Such simplicity! Jordan you are an awesome rocking Goddess of the Universe!
Many, many moons ago I did this. I was SO poor----pretty much lived on pot pies. I had an extra envelope where i put left-over money (maybe a dollar or two.) Lived that way for 2 or 3 years. Worked for me!!!
I love this ! I have been using this method for the last several months. But since I am crafty I made envelopes out of recycled paper and ribbon. Thanks!
I use to do this technique when i was a student. Now a single Mum of 5, im going back to it, as i want to take My Children on holiday. Until i saw this video i completely forgot, so im so happy you made this video, as i know how effective it is. Im adapting so many of your ideas into my home.
We live on a very small budget bc a lot of our budget goes to my sons medicine he has an auto immune disease. So my grocery budget is $50 for the week for our family of 4. Some weeks it has to be $30 that's a bad week when we have to eat sandwiches. I do all my shopping at Aldi it's the best! 😃
:( It's awful that in today's world you have to choose between med for your son or food. We (as in the country as a whole) have no problem sending money to other countries but can't help those in our own. I just don't get it.
Lin Nguyen yes I have a job but I can't work as much in the summer when kids are out of school bc no one will watch my kid because they are scared of messing something up with his auto immune disease.
Tiff Smith a lot of people who work can't even make it or it's difficult how expensive everything is. I meant no offense by the question. can a government program help u all? like someone else commented food stamps pay so little food banks have little and spoiled food. food is a necessity we all need and even with couponing it's expensive
Lin Nguyen I actually did once. but I did not like it i was given food that was passed the expiration date . I complained about it and I was told by a greedy lady. we give you free food and you complain! I was in shock but never again will I go and ask for help. its a good idea if my local area would be more understanding.
I love your energy. Wish I would have followed your advice a long time ago. Glag I came across this channel sooner than later. Never to late for change. Ready to learn a lot from you. I don't mind listening to someone who knows what their talking about. Learning and listen from others is at time a positive thing.
I honestly can’t thank you enough for this video. I started this 7 months ago and I’ve just paid off £2500, and I’m on Maternity leave. Wouldn’t have been possible without you ❤️
Going to give this a try starting in August. We have had to unexpectedly finance a vehicle this month, since our previously paid for 2003 Toyota bit the dust with 280,000+ miles on it! We should've planned better, but since we didn't, it's time to tighten the budget and get our new-to-us vehicle paid off ASAP! Going to try a 100/75 a week combo to start with. Wish us luck!
Been using ur envelope system for 1 1/12 months i hve put 500 in savings...it was a struggle for the first week but definitely adjusted as a family of 4
oh my gosh! I need to try this right now!!! ❤️ Im an always broke uni student and Im living on my own but I find myself spending way too much on tiny things so that there is very often nothing left on the 20th of the month. Thank you for that simple method and inspiration to organize my finances in a better way!
I am here to take a refresher for 2022! This one works for me for a few years now. Money never got better. Please create an updated version of this, Jordan! Just a fam of 2 from the Philippines.
O-M-Gosh, this weekly budget has SAVED my life! Trying to budget per month has been killing me for 20 years trying to budget with 2 people spending out of the same account. Thank you so much for such a simple way to budget.
I found Dave Ramsey’s budget was very overwhelming, yours on the other hand was much more relaxed and I realised it wasn’t as stressful and easier to understand so thanks girl! ❤️❤️
I so needed this.. Went back to my envelopes.. I just put $60 in savings for one week doing this. I also knocked it down to 2 envelopes, you're right any more than that becomes overwhelming. "Don't buy everything at whole paycheck foods. "😂
I needed this .. been on a budget mission this month.. I find that food is my biggest weakness. I have been bringing packed lunches to work, which saves tonnes!!Great advice
Gotta give this a try! I just watched a video yesterday and was very inspired.. but overwhelmed by all the extra envelopes and sinking savings fund.... but this makes it much easier and realistic to handle. I'll be back in 3 months to give you my thoughts!
OMG! It's hard! Especially for someone lile me who just spends, spends, spends! The first 2-3 weeks were doable. I was doing fine, saving 250+ per pay period.. and then the 2nd month kicked in, and I was itching to spend everything I had saved. It was a long and hard 3 months, but I am happy to say, my savings account saw about $2300 for the first time ever. (And then I felt like I deserved a vacation... and now it's all gone because of the holiday season). Overall, if you stick to it, it freaking works! I am planning on buying a house, so I am definitely getting back on this system, right now! Thank you for the tips and tricks and encouragement!
That was extremely helpful and makes me feel like getting out of debt can be manageable without being miserable and overwhelming. Thank you! I subscribed 😊
You are so hardworking, positive, energetic, smart and funny, of course very frugal :) I am Chinese, just moved to a small city called Sahuarita in Arizona 3 months ago from Shenzhen China, because my American husband wants our daughter to go to school in America. Life it’s so different here, no friends no work. I’ve been watched your videos every time I feel depressed. It’s so great to see you and your family enjoy your life so much. ❤️
I also feel so overwhelmed with the very complicated budgets. Once I got all the bills and set expenses written down i'm not sure what to do. This makes a lot of sense to me, I'm going to try it out. Thank you!
Jordan, thank you for these tips! I've found that a separate envelope for each week works better for me. I realize it's more paper, but it works for me!
I've ben doing this for ever! I mean decades I've ben doing this! And it works very well! I save so much money!! Because I know where my money goes to every week!
I never knew about this method. I would just budget how much I felt comfortable spending on groceries and then make a list of things I needed then decide which ones were most essential. I would buy the essentials first until I got just under the budget limit and check out. xD Recently I've been spending too much and not budgeting, so I'm going to try this method to be more strict again. Hope it works for me too!
This...I LOVE!!!! The million envelopes TOTALLY overwhelmed me!!! We are a small family of 3 (me, hubs and 12-year-old). We use a meal delivery service (the kind where we cook it). We eat leftovers and my daughter and I portion-share, so we turn one of their meals into 4 portions. It works for us and is $104.88/week. We have sooooo much less food waste than when I went to the store and meal planned. This method will totally help me reign in the "other" category, though!!! Thanks!!
Hello! We are a family of 9! Myself, my partner, and 7 kids. You are BEYOND amazing! Your videos are all so helpful and inspiring. I've never been the best when it comes to money, I look forward to trying these budgeting tips :)
Check out some of the videos by Alyssa Herbert. She shows you the way she budgets with envelope. She doesn't have any kids or husband so it night help.
So I’m living on my own for the first time ever and this is such a good idea I wish I would’ve watched this when I first moved out. My lease is up in November, I have student loans and three credit cards, let’s see how disciplined and creative I am.
I came back to this video and just can't believe how new and fresh this information feels. Thank you so much for sharing this gift you have with some of us who don't. Hugs and kisses from México.
When I was doing this method (debit card) I was saving $1,000 each month guaranteed and sometimes even $1,300!! I’ve since lost my way but re-watching this video and am trying again. My failure was not using an envelope or large wallet and keeping it in my bullet journal. Do I always have it on me? Yes. Did I always remember all the small things? Nope. Math wasn’t adding up and goodness gracious I started getting flustered and gave up. BACK AT IT STARTING MONDAY!!!
like the updated video but i will say your original video is the reason i subscribed to you a long time ago. you didnt have to write backwards this time. :) thanks for your ideas...
I am a brand new college student, so I have just started to really manage all of my money. I started using this budgeting method and it's been helpful already! Thank you so much!
My budgest is $100/bi-weekly for my family of 6. I wish I could budget this way but after bills and debt we maybe have $200 for gas and groceries for 2 weeks. I do love the energy you have in your videos!
Till this day, this has been one of the best money management tips I've ever gotten!! Was able to cut my spending almost in half after doing this for 6 months
I really related to your advice on the envelope budget especially the “Grocery and Other” budget. Today was payday and I started today. Thank you. I get it.
I love this. I hate the standard envelope system because I hate using cash and I don't want to figure out how much I spent on tp and separate it from what I spent on food. I buy it all at the same time.
I usually just consider everything purchased at a grocery store in the grocery category. This would include things like cat food, and household supplies.
Let me tell you, it is so possible to feed a family of six on less than a hundred per week. Bulk meals using foods you my not want to try but use your cooking skills more than your money. Get creative dude. Soups...ground meat instead of steak and make a delicious jumbo shepherds pie (potatoes are too too cheap but are pretty cheap nonetheless)...instead of buying bread find a quick bread recipe that uses as minimal ingredients as possible. That's another thing! Recipes with minimal ingredients are helpful but depending on the cost of each ingredient you'll have to adjust or swap for cheaper options! I remember being in college and having no money at all in my account and best believe...pack of rice and dried beans? Hated the time needed for cooking them from scratch and how tired I was but I had to do what I had to do dude. Make it work and be okay with adjusting meal prep if you don't have an ingredient. And also, you'd be surprised at how rich we actually are in the reality that people survive below the poverty line. Look up some videos...humbling, inspiring, and so good to also be praying for those families instead of just watching them too
Ikdr. I dont have $200 a week to play with. I have to make $150 a month stretch for food and $25-50 a month for cleaning and household stuff. I dont have kids in activities anymore but when my son was in school and sports. I made a lot of stuff and had bake sales or bartered for things i needed. I also added his lunch and sports drinks and bars as part of my food bill. Now that i cant work. My income is 10x less than it was so, Netflix and hulu are our entertainment lol. And once every 3 months i save enough to go out to eat or do a spa day for myself and once a yr i save enough to take a week vacay. Then its back to super frugal life. Most of us waste way more than we should and spend to much on stuff we dont need.
I love this method instead of separate catorgies for everything envelope system. This will help me not feel like I am wasting money every month. I am starting this next month. Thank you.
I don't remember when I saw this plan the first time but I should have put it into practice then!!! It isn't too late; I am going to jump in RIGHT NOW!!! Jordan, I love watching your videos; thanks for all your hard work in doing them!!!
im in a family of 3 and can seriously spend $800-$1000 a month on groceries! I live in Australia and we have no bulk stores, no couponing or anything like that and even buying the generic items its so damn expensive!!!
Try Oz Harvest for groceries, Lentils for "free" vegan meals to dine in, or ask the councils, there's one place near Aldi in Ambarvale for example that provide free meals on Tuesdays I believe, and can get you a box of groceries or 10-20 dollars, it´s run by a church. I´m not even a resident, belive me, feeding a family of 5 is hard when you have to fully pay for medicals bills and public school a well. I´m sure that if you make diligent research, you'll find the right spots for you, all the best!
I love this thank you. The only problem I would have is that we like to buy in bulk what we can, (family of 6) and our Sams club is 45 min away so we make that a once a month shop and that takes up half of the month's budget. What are your thoughts on that?
I think in this case you would take your grocery budget for the month and cut it in half, and track the spending on the second half weekly. The sams club receipt is the other half, so just put it in the envelope and your weekly trips should only cost half of your weekly budgeted amount. So if your family is going by $100/person/month, your total budget would be $600 for the month. You spend $300 at sams club, and your remaining budget for each week should total up to $300 for the month as well, so $75/week would be your number. I hope that helps!
Love, love, love this method! I have used cash envelopes for years, but this is simple and easy to stick with. I am able to save most weeks (not all), and we are putting those savings toward getting out of debt. Car first, then home loans. Car should be done in less than a year!
I use this method religiously ... cash only! I've been on this budget for 7 months and have saved about $1,000 per month. I highly recommend it!
Wow!!! I'm inspired!!!
woow! was it rough in the beginning? I'm in love with these methods, I'm in the process of using it.
CONGRATS
❤💕
Need some cash envelopes to put them in
I was a pessimist BUT I TRIED IT AND OMG!!!! Life changing!!! It works!!! One month and I could pay a debt at the end of the month!!! I’m rewatching to stay on track!!! Thanks Jordan!!!!
I live in Jamaica 🇯🇲
Month 2 here we go!!!!
Kelly Joeckel what was your budget for grocery and other?!
Any tips on getting started?
Yea i get paid every two week
People in the US have to pay for giving birth?? What... In Canada, healthcare is free.. I've been through 2 kids and I can't imagine paying for the natural process of birth especially when kids cost money already and you make less money for a whole year of maternity leave on top of that
@@lovelyl6300 yesss🙄 the US sucks so much. We have to pay for anything medical related

When we started a budget my kids thought it was code word for "we are broke" lol but soon they found out we had more money 💰 with a good budget.
Dawn Henry the word budget seems to scare people. A budget doesn't have to be scary you can still do things you enjoy with the right budget in place.
Another psychological trick that works with this for me is that I have the weekly budget start over on Friday. It's actually a BRILLIANT idea.
I understand setting up the envelope based on the calendar weeks. But I like this idea of doing from Friday to Friday.

Finally a system that talks about bills that are on auto-pay!! Thank you
Most successful people started from nothing.
Please do a video on how to budget as a single person. Love love love the envelope idea! Thanks from British Columbia, Canada.
....? No matter how many are in your family...whether you're single or a Large family...it's STILL 3 envelopes (#1. Family - utilities, rent/mortgage, car pmt. etc.....#2. Grocery....#3. "Other"...) It's THAT simple!
I have some cash envelopes for sale if your intrested
Heidi Robinson she did say in the video for the grocery budget to start at $300. Then when you get to 4 people or more you add $100 per person. She was really fast and short in Saying that.
I agree though it would be super nice to have a 1 - 2 person budget discussion.
@@kaykay9462 huh??
I'm on my own and I find that this works the same for a single person
I LOOVE THIS!!! A handwritten budgeting system that works!! I'm a millennial who dislikes all this "app fandom" I have to hand write my budgeting to really track myself. I AM SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!! THANK YOU JORDAN!! Excited to subscribe to your channel and see what else I can learn from you. You're an angel!!
Karla Contreras yes! also a millennial and hate keeping track of things through apps. too tedious for me.
Karla Contreras p
When I first saw this headline I thought "oh no, not this envelope budget things again!" but then was pleasantly surprised. And I agree with you, that other envelope budget planning thing is not sustainable & you do constantly borrow from one envelope to the next! Good simple idea here!
We've been using this method for several months. It works great and is so simple. We start our week on Friday so we have all our "money" available for the weekend. That one tweak made it even better for us.
This is one of the only budgeting systems that actually makes sense to me.
Hi Jordan! Please do a detailed video explaining what you did to get rid of $15,000.00 worth of debt only making $31,000.00. Can you do a Mock Budget showing what you made back then and how much you paid for food, bills, etc!! That is amazing! I would love to see what you did to make that happen!
Ok I just filmed one today for Q&A Tuesday! Will go live on YT soon!!
Jordan Page, FunCheapOrFree can you link that here? I'd love to see it.
Risosi1515 , cash works, it works. I like debit cards too but it didn't work, cash does.
Lived in a % envelope budget system for 27 years and works great for us.. Raised 4 kids, pastor a church, run 2 business', and give to others.
Jordan:
"Day to day, week to week, standard, mom spending...staying with me on this?"
Me, a 26 year old man:
"Mhmm."
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for sharing this budgeting system. I just got my first well paying job and have no clue how to budget effectively. This gives me hope that I, as well as my fellow recent grads, can save enough to pay off student loan debts and start saving for life. Thanks again! You rock!
Month 2 on this method and I’m so less stressed than I was before trying to do cash envelopes!! Thank you thank you thank you!!
So this is what I do. When hubby gets paid, I pay our bills, I put a set amount of money into savings, then we live on what's left. When he gets paid again, what ever was left in checking when that check went in, ($50 or $250) that goes into savings.
I work part time and my entire check goes into savings. I keep a little in for fun stuff but most goes into savings
We have no credit card debt and our house is paid for
That takes discipline!
@@human47134 our mortgage is $1800. There's always room to budget. Dave Ramsey plan is awesome, if you're dedicated
Yes My Darling yeah that’s what I want to know about!!!!
Yes My Darling p
Yes I would really like to know that as well, needed help!!!
I agree!!!!!
Love this!! Although for my family of 5 our grocery budget is $300...it’s a lot of work but we made it work!
OMG!!! Thank you for not having a bright ass binder with tons of stickers you decorate it with LOL!!! This is more my style for sure lol....Thank you!
simple yet smart
I know right! I love her for this, so simple and it works.
Where have you been all my life? This Latina needed you 26 years ago! Love it!!!
Ok. I'm giving you 3 months. This is the simplest budget I have found yet and I cannot wait to try it.
Tiff Smith do u have a job?
Tiff Smith try getting food stamps or go to a food bank if you can
Lin Nguyen yes I have a job but I can't work as much in the summer when kids are out of school bc no one will watch my kid because they are scared of messing something up with his auto immune disease.
Tiff Smith a lot of people who work can't even make it or it's difficult how expensive everything is. I meant no offense by the question. can a government program help u all? like someone else commented food stamps pay so little food banks have little and spoiled food. food is a necessity we all need and even with couponing it's expensive
Ok... this the first budget tracking system that actually worked for me, ever, since I was born with paper processing disorder....🐿🙃
I have the same issue!! Paper is my nemesis...
this is very helpful! having 4 children and only my husband working is extremely difficult! thank you Jordan love your videos fun and helpful!
Aw yay! Glad you like it. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!
Jordan Page FunCheapOrFree I will😁 you are the only UA-camr that response to me. That's how fans know you are 100% real thank you much for being you!
laura Delgado maybe u can go to a food bank to help feed your family
Lin Nguyen I actually did once. but I did not like it i was given food that was passed the expiration date . I complained about it and I was told by a greedy lady. we give you free food and you complain! I was in shock but never again will I go and ask for help. its a good idea if my local area would be more understanding.
Laura, we had the same last name before I married lol 🤣
I love your energy. Wish I would have followed your advice a long time ago. Glag I came across this channel sooner than later. Never to late for change. Ready to learn a lot from you. I don't mind listening to someone who knows what their talking about. Learning and listen from others is at time a positive thing.
I honestly can’t thank you enough for this video. I started this 7 months ago and I’ve just paid off £2500, and I’m on Maternity leave. Wouldn’t have been possible without you ❤️
Oh my goodness! Way to go! We're so happy for you!
Good Luck! I have a 2002 Toyota Solara great car!
Been using ur envelope system for 1 1/12 months i hve put 500 in savings...it was a struggle for the first week but definitely adjusted as a family of 4
Way to go!!! I bet you're SO excited to have that in savings!! 🙌
So glad this has helped you!
Being 19, my categories are Rent(that I give to my mom to help out), Savings(for college and emergency), and Spending.
Subscribed after 1 minute and 55 seconds! Anyone who can make me giggle 3 times within 2 mins AND give me financial advice is incredible!
Been doing this envelope method for 9 years now. Really works. I Love It.
I needed this .. been on a budget mission this month.. I find that food is my biggest weakness. I have been bringing packed lunches to work, which saves tonnes!!Great advice
This is great! So much simpler than a separate envelope for every little category.
I started doing this in December 2018 and can attest that it TOTALLY works!
We got out off 12,000 in debt in about 16 months. Thank you so much for giving us all your knowledge!
This method helped me live and pay my bills off when I was rather young, like 22 getting an $11,000 salary. I love it.
When americans say their salary is 11k, does it mean per year or per month?
Whole Paycheck Foods... HILARIOUS. New subbie
That was extremely helpful and makes me feel like getting out of debt can be manageable without being miserable and overwhelming. Thank you! I subscribed 😊
You are so hardworking, positive, energetic, smart and funny, of course very frugal :)
I am Chinese, just moved to a small city called Sahuarita in Arizona 3 months ago from Shenzhen China, because my American husband wants our daughter to go to school in America.
Awww my Granny taught me this year's ago. And it works

Can you do a video for a single person to save money, I have no significant other no kids and am finding it hard to save money for a vacation
Thanks
Yes please! I hope she does. Because this method is seriously doable
I would assume it would be 300 per month for groceries for one person because at one point she said 100 per person, starting with 300.

My husband laughed out loud at that too! 😂
I came back to this video and just can't believe how new and fresh this information feels.

Wish my mom was like you. Now I can be this way and do it for my kids. Thanks for this video
like the updated video but i will say your original video is the reason i subscribed to you a long time ago. you didnt have to write backwards this time. :)
thanks for your ideas...

My budgest is $100/bi-weekly for my family of 6. I wish I could budget this way but after bills and debt we maybe have $200 for gas and groceries for 2 weeks. I do love the energy you have in your videos!
I think I need to take lessons from you. Good job

I really related to your advice on the envelope budget especially the “Grocery and Other” budget. Today was payday and I started today. Thank you. I get it.
"Look at me using a big word." LOL You are so lovable...natural! Luv your channel.
I am doing this! I love the idea of all the receipts in each envelope!
I love this. I hate the standard envelope system because I hate using cash and I don't want to figure out how much I spent on tp and separate it from what I spent on food. I buy it all at the same time.
Firebomb1987 .
Separate transactions! Not difficult :)
I usually just consider everything purchased at a grocery store in the grocery category. This would include things like cat food, and household supplies.
A zero based credit score, ya'll are what the average millionaire looks like.
Look up some videos...humbling, inspiring, and so good to also be praying for those families instead of just watching them too
Miriam Mascal these are wonderful tips!
❤️👍🏻
Amen.. praying for sure is a must. He takes care of us.
and in one comment you've created content for your next 6 youtube videos! :) thanks for the tips!
Look at you go! No nonsense and to the point! WooHoo! If I have two other personalities, does that mean I can increase my food budget...? lol!
"Whole 'paycheck' Foods" lol I loved that one, so so true
Mark Halling that’s an old saying. Dude are you serious? That’s like from 2003.
im in a family of 3 and can seriously spend $800-$1000 a month on groceries! I live in Australia and we have no bulk stores, no couponing or anything like that and even buying the generic items its so damn expensive!!!
That's just like here in New Zealand, so expensive.
I feel you... I'm in Hawaii and it's heller expensive.
Neither at spain, not even free samples at the stores 😞
where in Australia are you? I go to community services to get a box of groceries for $40. You just have to know where to find them.
Definitely works . Did it for 3yrs and life was great . Then fell off but getting back to it now . Thanks for the video God Bless
May start using this! I have a daughter and we are on a monthly budget so this helps with everything perfectly! Can't wait!
Thank you!
You are a Goddess for helping us do this... 💃🏽💃🏽

So simple to understand. Not all these complex budgeting I hardly remember after. Thanks alot
Love, love, love this method! I have used cash envelopes for years, but this is simple and easy to stick with. I am able to save most weeks (not all), and we are putting those savings toward getting out of debt. Car first, then home loans. Car should be done in less than a year!
