Dive watchaholic here. I have both Turtle and Sumo (and others!). Good review. Hit the key points but have slightly different take. Purchased a blue Turtle SRP773 prior to acquiring the Blumo, in hopes of satisfying desire for nice blue diver and save few $$. All was fine until I finally got my hands on a black SBDC031 Sumo. Turtle is solid value but the Sumo is in a different league, more than justifies additional cost. Finally purchased the Blumo, sold the blue Turtle. Interestingly, the Turtle revived my interest in the iconic SKX. Although the movement upgrade in the Turtle is a plus, the SKX fits the bill better for an everyday diver, IMO. Surprise time, “thinning my herd” at the moment and selling the Blumo, keeping the black SBDC031. My keeper for a blue diver(???) … the blue Orient Triton / Neptune RA-EL0001B, the “Baby Sat”.

Just waiting for my second Blumo after selling my first a few years ago- it was one of my first seiko diver, I loved it but upgraded to an mm300. Years later I always remembered it fondly as a watch that has great fit and finish but felt like a tool watch. It wore so much better than the measurements if I remember correctly and looked great on a crafter blue rubber strap. My new one should arrive tomorrow so I will spend the next 18hours watching every old review and sumo video on UA-cam 😄
Thank you for review. Both are great and compliment, not compete. I had them, sold, going to buy again. Having 7 1/4 inch wrist both seat great. PS My 42mm Willard looks quite small after them 😂
Trust me, I‘ve also made (several) dumb moves with watches. Luckily I didn’t sell this one (but was on the edge to do so😂). Maybe you’ll buy one again!
I own the Blumo and a Padi Turtle 🐢. Love both watches for different reasons. The turtle is a more everyday wearer and the Blumo is a more exceptional refined Seiko diver . Both are amazing 😉 but the Blumo is definitely the better watch . Like you it’s awesome to own both . Thanks for an awesome 😎 comparison vid on these two awesome Seiko divers 👍🏻
Both watches weigh around 180grams with the full bracelet. Sometimes I also get the impression that the Turtle looks a little bit bigger side by side but on the wrist they are very similar. The Sumo appears a little narrower because of the longer lugs and the Turtle a little wider because of the relatively short lugs.

Never owned a tutle but had a Sumo. The finish on that thing was next level. Dumb move to sell it on my part.

The Sumo font looks like early 2000s Powerpoint. 3rd gen is a lot of more appropriate.

Love both of them...but for me...turtle is more comfort and fit on my hand..

Agree. Have tried than both at watch shop. Turtle looks a little bit bigger and feels heavier.
Actually one is 500 and the other 750.
