“This is where we burn our paper in the ranch.”
*opens door and has a giant sheet of plastic right on top* 😂
I laughed 😂 I want to make one for myself!! I love burning stuff. There’s just something about it. Which is weird because I’m a fireman lol

Mike you need to be careful of all the particles you are inhaling. I got copd and never smoked a day in my life. Dust from composite pile is harmful. Think about a mask for some jobs. Enjoy every video.

Maybe just spray it with a hose? Might be heavier but you can easily shovel it and no airborne concerns.

Mike there is nothing like a old corn shovel to scoop thing up with. Goes a lot faster.. I used one when I was younger scooping corn out of a corn crib when the used to shell corn off the cob. That was back in the days when you really worked hard to keep up with the sheller rig and fighting big rats.

You should cut and weld some angle iron or iron tubes in a manner to allow ashes to fall through and yet catch accidental items. Make it removable though.

Mike, you stayed so positive all the while you were dealing with material that should not have been put in the incinerator. If you put it in, there must have been a darn good reason to at that time. Now, are you going to think twice about putting metal into the incinerator again? Best wishes. I enjoyed your positive attitude!

Next time you build a burner leave the end door off. The vertical pipe needs to be 8 ft in length. You can empty by letting the ashes out the bottom with the front end loader.

Nice work- maybe take a look in the junk pile for a 4 foot or so frame and put some screen over it, 1/2 inch or so and dump the incinerator on the screen to get the big chunks. Maybe dump it near the compost pile to reduce the movement. Just a thought. I enjoy the show.

Mike about 50 yrs ago are coop had applicators for side dressing corn. That is where your tank came from. It set perpendicular to the tongue. They had 4 and 6 row units , we paid so much an acre to use them. I put anhydrous ammonia milo. Pulled it with a 4020 John Deere that was the work horse. Most people have their own applicator now.

For about $50 you can get a real mask at an auto supply store or an oil field supply store that will protect your lungs. There are various filters for different materials. We recently had 800 sqft (floor area asement) built and drywalled. The crew was using N95 masks I gave one a respirator for oil field use and the next day he was getting them for all the crews. Said no dust and no breathing difficulty.

Wouldn't it be easier to just rake out all that ash instead of picking it up and risking damaging it or the tractor? Rake it and shovel it. It didn't seem like a lot of ash to me to warrant such extreme emptying measures. You wound up having to shovel some of it out anyway.

My father had a burn barrel in the back yard, it was made out of cement. But it wasn't used for the compost pile, if I remember correctly, so no use for picking it up. I do not remember how he emptied it out. I think he had a metal grate on the bottom and I know one was on the top to keep huge paper ash from floating up in the air. The burn barrel was one of my favorite things to "play" with. Must have been a witch in another life. lol
