When my husband and I built our home, we put a full bath right next to the door to our garage just so we could throw a baby calf in the tub to warm up. We know what ranching entails and every part of our life revolves around it.

The number one rule in emergency medicine in regards to hypothermia, no one is dead until they are warm and dead. Great team effort in trying to save the calf. Number one started life looking and acting very healthy, unfortunately life can take dramatic turns.

The only way to be able to afford being small is to sell directly to the consumer. That takes quite a bit of capital too. The regulations are expensive to meet too.

looks like you need about 15 to 20 stalls, to keep mom and calf in during the winter storms. So happy that #1 did well. God Bless you

I'm so sorry to see the little guy didn't make it, despite your best efforts. May the weather warm up soon and may God protect the rest of the herd. I'm sure He'll send blessings your way for taking such good care of His cattle.

I am so sorry you lost number 1. I can sit here and say maybe you should have done this or done that but I see how much love and effort to help him that you did. I don't think you could have done more. I am heartbroken about losing him.

You must not have read the paragraph at the very end of the video because number one passed away five hours after he was put with his mom. Despite all their efforts and his great improvement, he didn’t make it.

I had so much emotions going. When it stood up, it brought a tear to my eye. I was wonder how it turned out, then the print came across the screen, and so sad I was. I'm sure you guys also. So much loving went into trying to save him. Your love for the cattle is abundant. McKinzie is going to be a cow girl I think. She has that interest in what is going. Thanks for sharing.

This was an absolutely wonderful video. I was cheering at the end when the calf was getting up and was reunited with Mom. You show so much love and care for what you do. And I was just devastated at the kind of post-script ending. After so much time and love invested and the calf died anyway. Seems so unfair. But thanks for sharing. I admire you guys so very much and hope to visit sometime.

Mike thanks for sharing, I can only imagine all the emotions you went through. It’s got to be hard, even more so since your rebuilding the herd and doing a different way of selling your cattle.
Prayers and McKenzie is so sweet and adorable. About made me tear up when you told her and the response she gave. But I know it’s life and death in livestock business

I love Cows! I had a friend a few years back that had a ranch and how I loved helping him on his ranch. I got to do several things I've watched you do and realized how much I miss it! I got to raise one on the bottle! He turned I to a big pet. I can tell you really care about your animals
Especially when you sat by the warmer waiting on this baby to warm up! Like a daddy . I've talked too much but I thoroughly enjoy your videos!

Mike and Erin I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s funny I knew while I was watching this video that I could fast forward to learn about what happened to the little calf but I just couldn’t because I thought that if Mike is suffering through this and you are suffering through this Erin that I should also to some degree as a subscriber. I was so happy when he was put back with his mom only to find that he had passed away five hours later. Your jobs are so hard physically and emotionally it takes a certain amount of character to do what you guys are doing with the amount of emotion and love that you do it with. It’s funny kinda makes me not want to eat beef watching all the work it takes to get those other puppies to my dinner table. But I am a lover of great steak. Thank you again for all the love and attention you gave to number one.
