Hi Joanie ! Thank you for this new vidéo ! One more time you rock !!! I like your journey in food photography and the way toi stars it with generosity and passion ! Regarding the lighting I prefere the previous one, it was warmer and created a welcoming athmothphere that suited you best ! Might be because I am used to it ? All the best !

Nice new setup and another great video! It all depends on what feeling you want for your videos. This one is very clean, you could introduce more contrast for a less "studio/white backgrop" look (if that makes sense) But I like it! Thanks, Joanie! :)

Jonnie, if you like the bright & airy look, like what PBS produces, or the cleanliness of a hospital, then this is the light 💡 set up for you... if you Like homey comfortable settings, then the other setup is for you. Both work well with this channel, this look is definitely more corporate looking though, & that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I personally would like to see your face half covered in shadow, with the saturation really low, edging on B&W.... I love moody things, love your channel, hope this was useful in some way. Thanks for all you do!

thank you for sharing. your videos are super helpful!!! It'd be great if you could share some experiences about how much we should charge to a client. I understand this would vary depending on the level of the photographer and the specific requirements from client. But it would be already helpful if we can know a "checklist" and a rough number. Thanks again!!

Photographers I think we are more than that, we are content creators and service providers.
One technique not often mentioned is good old fashioned door to door, I got low on money and had no gigs lined up once so I packed up my gear and laptop and headed to one of the down town business districts, I know those small shops have no budgets and use cell phones for their photos But we can do better, I charge a low price for one or two photos which they can use on social media, for website content that I do a contract for and we go from there. One small shop is not going to make you a living but do several shops on one day I bring my laptop and process the photos right there in the shop.
As a freelancer I got more than one income stream you have to now days, I even work part time and temp work once in awhile.
On an unrelated note I just wanted to say I realized is I been watching-following your channel since I was checking out one of your gear videos and that got me hooked on food photography, I don't plan to do food photography myself but I do enjoy the process and I admit the food looks very good. I also realized I do have a strong interest in subject of food itself., I went to bartender school many years ago, I can still do it after a little practice, smart phones help with that being able to pull the recipes in a second or two (I think I still have my recipe cards somewhere) and I have food handlers permits for the four counties around me as well, I do prep work too.
So it's interesting to see how you work while also knowing what goes on from the kitchen prep side as well. I have done the Server-Waiter thing not something I enjoyed LOL
Lastly you kind of covered it but people skills and business skills are big part if not a bigger part of your business.
Sorry to go long, I'm a writer at heart.

These were great points to consider; loving this series! 👌Joanie, do you proactively have to turn away big brands or does your own brand make it clear who you prefer to work with?
Though I liked the previous lighting better, camera right needed a smidge more fill on your face, which the new lighting addresses. I miss the depth the previous lighting offered and the tighter crop avoided the modifier's reflection on the oven. I'd love to see your lighting setup! 🙏

Prefer the previous lighting set up because it seemed more warm and homey! This one s light and bright kind stark, not bad but just different. I’ll love to see a video of the your previous lighting set up the one where you have the candle flickering (was a nice touch) in the background I really did appreciate that ambiance and feel more that this one. Also liked the point of view of the previous set up more seems less distracting this one everything and you seems in the same plane but in the other videos there seems to be a more focus on u as the subject subject and less on the background, I don’t believe I ever noticed the oven and now I am. I think it’s taking away from my focus on you and adding more of the entire scene in your capture. So different not bad but just different

Hello Isabella Escobar, do you have a nas? If not think about getting one, not only are they great for storing and backing up your images, they can be soooo much more! I have a nas from synology, and it includes software with remote client access capabilities. You can create a folder of just the work you want them to see, send them a link, & they can access those files from anywhere in the world 🌍. They are sooo cool, and there’s so much more you can do with them, check it out, I think that would solve a lot of your problems! Good luck!🍀

Don't love the new lighting set up, it seems a bit bland. But then again, I tend to like contrast and thought the other lighting was just more interesting. Also, field of view seems wider and we are seeing more of the oven which is a little distracting and reflects your light. I kinda liked the tighter crop myself. Just my two cents. I love the lighting and crop from here: ua-cam.com/video/9zVGG9qHBDA/v-deo.html But, good video otherwise with some good knowledge and good questions to ask yourself. Thanks Joanie!

I think the lighting looks a bit TOO professional. I think most of your fan base would agree your personality is what’s developing this huge fan base, not quality. Casey Niestat has good production quality but it never looks like he shoots in a professional studio and is able to keep it personal with his followers.

To much white light which along with the cabinets behind you make you look white washed. I don't think that's what you are going for is it?
In the very last segment you spoke about what extra you could do for your client. Extra is good but you charge for "extra" don't you? You don't provide these "extra" services for free do you?
