From left to right: Layne Stein, Cesar De La Rosa, guest Ashley Diane, Eli Jacobson, and Geoff Castellucci. They have so many incredible covers across so many genres and musical styles, it's hard to recommend just a few--pick anything in their channel that looks interesting and I promise you will not be disappointed. Geoff also has his own channel filled with intricately arranged, multi-part layered masterpieces that are not to be missed!
for your understanding regarding the patron list at the end. those are their top tier patrons. they have over 1900 paying patrons and over 4k total. not bad for a group that is 100% independent.
"It's him!" -- I love new people discovering VoicePlay and bass Geoff Castellucci. I hope you look at their channels and pick something you think you'd enjoy-- their whole catalog is good. Thanks for reacting!
Yes, please check out more of Voiceplay. The bass, Geoff, will blow your mind. He also has solo videos that are stunning. We are here to join you on the ride. Might want to start with their cover of "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica. You are in for a treat!
VoicePlay is simply amazing ❤ They do all their stuff themselves, arranging, video,... Geoff Castellucci (the bass) has a beautiful timbre in his tone 🫶🏻 He has some solo stuff on his own channel too, you can't go wrong with any of his covers ❤ His covers are not a capella, but he does all the voices and all the harmonies, plays the piano and the other instruments with plug in's for his piano... it's amazing 🎉
I really enjoyed your reaction to VoicePlay! They are by far my favorite of the big acapella groups! They are incredibly creative, fun and talented. Not to mention they have super bass, Geoff Castelucci! What can go wrong?? 😅❤
It's always fun to watch someone discover Voiceplay! Their most recent is Thriller. They always pay homage to the original but they NEVER do a copy cat version. I look forward to your next reaction to them and Geoff. Subscribed in anticipation!
There are men who can go a lot lower than Geoff Castellucci. But it's a matter of actually having vocal and tonal quality down at the bottom of the range, instead of just sounding like a machine. He's excellent. He also has a solo YT channel BTW, where you can hear him doing 4 or 5 part harmony with himself.
I've only ever heard of one that can go a lot lower than Geoff and his lowest actually go below human hearing. I'm also not even sure that he is still singing. Who all are you thinking of? The last I heard, Tim Storms holds the record. He's the one I'm not sure if he's still singing. I don't know of anyone else that sings a lot lower than Geoff.
@@PAT8888-is2pd as far as I'm aware (watched a lot of bass singers on youtube a few years ago) it all depends what they mean. Geoff and Tim from home free can go pretty low even for a bass but the way they make some notes sound superhuman low is with vocal techniques. Both of them I believe cap out around f#1 in chest but Tim and Geoff can sing a B0 using subharmonics and growl notes. I've heard several basses like JD Sumner do an F#1 just by lowering their speaking voice a little. And JD can sing a C1 in chest at least but he doesn't use vocal techniques so technically Geoff and Tim sing lower, however if JD sung a subharmonic he could prob go lower. Check out Eric Halloway if you want to hear a true monster bass in chest voice as well his tone is uniquely dark makes it sound deeper.
@pc2555 thanks. I'll check out Eric Halloway. I'm not sure we should count JD Sumner as a "There are men" though (even though, at one time, he was the world record holder) because, he is no longer living. I grew up listening to and loving JD's voice. Since I posted the last comment I made on this, I have discovered that the current record holder is still singing, in Branson, Missouri. His name is Tim Storms. He is the only one that I knew of that could go "a lot " lower than Geoff Castellucci and Tim Foust. His record is, what I would call unreachable. G#-5 not including a 2 octave extension below that (was the record low frequency hit by human voice) is his lowest. I think that 2 octave extension is what goes beyond the ability for the average person to hear.
@@PAT8888-is2pd I heard Tim storms a bunch and an example of his super low vocal extension however after he got low enough it was so quiet i can't even hear it past maybe the 0 octave lol. It is certainly freakish and impressive but for me a full sustained note with enough resonance to sing into a mic is what I'd mostly consider 'range'. Another bass whos sung around in different acapella groups has down to a C#1 in chest is Elliot Robinson.
@@PAT8888-is2pd Tim Storms is the most famous because he holds the record; but yeah, there are others. (Off the top of my head, Eric Holloway, who has done collabs with the Bass Gang, is one.) Here's the thing, though: it's not useful to go very *much* lower. The bottom several notes of Geoff's range are already banging into the limits on what cheap speakers can reproduce, and if you go down another half an octave or so, you start running into the bottom end of some people's hearing range. There's a reason the standard piano keyboard stops where it does. And yeah, Geoff has other notable qualities besides just the range of frequencies he can hit.
it being spooky season and all, VoicePlay's Thriller or Be Prepared should be a fun watch for y'all! also Geoff Castellucci's (the bass singer in VoicePlay) Jack's Lament on his solo channel is a great watch for spooky season!
Welcome to VoicePlay. Down the Rabbit Hole you will now go. That's Geoff, he is amazing. You need to check out their other stuff !!! Nothing Against PenT and HomeFree. But VP is on another level !!
Voice play features woman vocalists alot give them some love! Recommend any Disney cover, hall of the mountain king, classical chaos, wicked medley (2 featured females)
Thanks for the reaction , I also love Pentatonix and Homefree, just amazing what they can do, I seen you just watch Michael Jackson Thriller.. so VoicePlay Thriller will be right up your ally.. thanks again
Voiceplay is a phenomenal group that does everything themselves. From concept to UA-cam. Except intricate makeup, cameras and audio mixing. They have many many fantastic vides. At present there are only four so they collaborate with various artists for the 5th spot. Right to left.... Layne Stein- beatboxer, baritone, arrangements, co-owner of Pattycake Productions Studio. Cesar De La - baritone, tenor. Ashley Diane- guest, long time collaborator. Eli (el lee) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting, arrangements. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass, arrangements. Solo channel with instruments. Octave range 5+. Cesar and Ashley are really good friends that are both Puerto Rican. They're latest two videos is "Be Prepared" from the Lion King. "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. Geoff Castellucci has his own channel where he sings solo with instruments and sound effects using a plugin and keyboard. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name, personality and range.... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl. Started as a kinda joke in his "Way Down," that stuck. In "Ghost Riders In The Sky" he needed a name for his gis 4th clone. He liked Daryl so that became his name. The names also help him figure out who is going to sing which parts. Especially when he dresses up in costumes. His latest 2 videos are.... "Imagine" by John Lennon. "Song of Durin" from the Hobbit movies. No matter what you watch from either one you won't be disappointed. Everything is fantastic. Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole🐰
You should check out their cover of Thriller since you just watched MJ's original. The Way You Make Me Feel, Dream On, Hellfire (from Hunchback of Notre Dame), Valhalla Calling, Hoist the Colors, My Mother Told Me, Seven Nation Army, Black Hole Sun, I Can't Make You Love Me, We Don't Talk About Bruno....so many great ones...these are a few that illustrate their incredible versatility! Also check out Geoff's solo channel (he's the bass) I recommend Blackbird, and I See Fire (from The Hobbit...and also Misty Mountain Cold and Durin's Song, also from The Hobbit) 16 tons, Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone...such a VAST range of talent here!
Wonderful to find a new reaction channel to VoicePlay. There are many of us who search daily for reactions to VoicePlay or Geoff's solo channel. Subscribed in hopes of more. We'll be here when you react to more of their releases....such sheer talent and hard work. They never disappoint!
Welcome to the wonderful world of VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci (the bass). VoicePlay is my favorite out of all the acapella groups. Geoff (pronounced Jeff) has an amazing 5-octive range. Hopefully you will do some more reactions. Geoff has his own channel and will clone himself in his videos. They are independent artist. VoicePlay has a huge library of songs to choose from, a few of my favorites are: "Valhalla Calling", "Thriller", "Nothing Else Matters", "Dream On", "Be Prepared", "Hellfire" (Grammy Nominated), "The Dragonborn Comes". They have a large collection of Disney songs as well. No matter what you choose you won't go wrong. a few of my favorites by Geoff are: "16-Tons", "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold", "I See Fire", "Song of Durin", "Unshaken", and "Ain't No Sunshine". Enjoy the rabbit hole
Voiceplay never does a cover unless they feel they can add something and give a different interpretation of a song. This is beautiful, but doesn't give you the full treat of hearing their crazy ranges 🤣
VoicePlay has 4 members right now: Geoff (bass), Cesar (baritone/tenor), Eli (rock tenor), Layne (beatboxer). For the extra person, they take advantage of the Orlando theme parks and the people they have performed with over the years. Our "couple" here were raised in Puerto Rico until both families pulled up stakes and moved to the Orlando, FL area. As a result, Cesar and Ashley have been friends for most of their lives.
I think Voice Play is actually better than PTX and Home Free (though I really love them too) but VoicePlay is my all-time favorite group, because they are BY FAR the most versatile and creative, and they do it all completely independently. I suggested a few for you to listen to a few days ago (see below, about 3 days back.) But since you asked about girl a cappella groups, I can recommend Citizen Queen. They are wonderful. Check out their cover of Killing Me Softly. It is so AMAZING. First, it's one of my favorite songs, their cover of it is VERY well arranged, their harmonies are fabulous, and they REALLY nail it!

I do not say this to condemn you; I have said before that you have such a place in our hearts that we would live or die with you.
The best-known all-female acapella group is probably Citizen Queen. Mixed male-and-female groups are, of course, common.

Citizen Queen is an all women acapella group
Citizen Queen is a female Acapella group. Scott Hoying from PTX helped them.
Its a pretty cover but they have sooo much more to offer. Check out valhalla calling, dream on, hell the rabbit hole is huuuuge
Check out BYU Noteworthy for a killer female acapella group!
This is a good song but it really doesn't showcase what vp can do. Go explore and find something that appeals. They do it all
