Oh Voiceplay is amazing... I love their rock covers...they do not do anything sub-par. I don't think you will have copyright issues with VP. They have a huge bank catalogue - you will love everything! More VP pleaseeee. Have you done "Nothing Else Matters" (Metallica) by VP? 🌹🕊
Eli (rhymes with Jelly, bald tenor) is amazing in this song, but that wasn't suppose to be his part. Anthony Gargiula was going to be the featured artist but had to cancel due to illness. Jose agreed to fill in but didn't have the range for that part, Jose switched parts with Eli. Beside being the rock god of the group Eli is often in charge of lighting and is taking turns more often with arranging. Everyone in this group has a variety of mad skills. I've enjoyed getting introduced to other wonderful singers that they feature.
Yes, more VoicePlay and more Geoff solo! You really can't go wrong with anything they do. VoicePlay has two songs currently being considered for 2025 Grammy nominations (decisions to be announced Nov. 8th), so you might want to react to those..."Hellfire" (in one category) and "The Way You Make Me Feel" (in two categories). Last month's release of "Be Prepared" is wonderful. Geoff's trilogy of songs based on Tolkien's Middle Earth ("Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold," "I See Fire," and last month's release, "Song of Durin") are very impressive. Geoff's solo releases are not a cappella but he layers his vocals and does all of the instrumentation himself. His video editing skills to add in all of his characters/clones are impressive. Often Geoff's solo releases are all done by just Geoff and Kathy. Will be here for more reactions to VP & Geoff!
If you want to enjoy their music even more, get yourself a good quality headphone. You will be surprised. You will feel Geoff's deep tones in your spine.
At the time this was done, Jose was on the roster (part time) for the one and only Rockapella. He also went to high school with Cesar, and they both did musical theater.
An incredible set they did last month or so is Classical Chaos, Be Prepared, and Thriller. Another 2 with Jose in them is Drunken Sailor and My Mother Told Me. VoicePlay started it in 1997 (then it was 4theLove and that changed to 4:2:Five when they got Scott, Geoff and Layne are the remaining 2 fellows, their first tenor was Mykal who left for Broadway, their first beatboxer Scott Porter left for an acting career and Layne changed from baritone to beatboxer. Mykal came back for a bit and he is in Be Prepared, Scott came back for a spot in Halo. Earl was one of the original ones but left 4 yrs ago for personal reasons. He can be seen in the VoicePlay covers from 1997 to 2020, Queen in 5 Minutes is a good one to see what he is good at. Eli came on in 2010, previously he had been in some rock bands. Tony Wakim is another baritone through the 2010s and he wanted to be in productions so Layne and Tony bought Pattycake Productions studio where most of VoicePlay's and Geoff's videos are done. J None came on as the baritone after Tony got into the studio and is superb. He gave up being a member in 2021 when the US Navy recruited him for his vocal talents. He comes back on leave and sings with VP when he can and fills in as a guest singer. Guest vocalists you are likely to see: Jose Rosario, Jr., Omar Cardona, EJ Cardona (his brother), Deejay Young, Anthony Gargiula, Rachel Potter, Emoni Wilkins, Ashley Diane, Adrianna Arellano, and Honey Larochelle (did most of her work with them was during the Sing-Off competition), Emoni was when they did 2 tours of the Sing-Off tour.
Layne Stein is on the bottom left is the Beatboxer...best in the industry! Geoff (pronounced Jeff Cast-a-loo-chee) is the gorgeous longhaired deep bass, Cesar de la Rosa is the one in all white, back left, Jose Rosario Jr (guest) is in the middle, and Eli Jacobson (pronounced Ellie, short for Eliezer) the rock-god tenor on the right above Geoff. They are phenomenal. I see a Beatles poster behind you, you should check out Geoff's version of Blackbird, it is absolutely gorgeous! It's probably my favorite of his solo work outside of his stuff from the Hobbit. But literally everything these guys have done in the last 4 yrs or so has been stellar!
This was my introduction to the group. My sister was looking up sea chanties and showed this to my other sister who interned showed me. It has been a wild ride ever since. You might want to check out Drunken Sailor. Its the sequel to this song and completely hilarious. I know it will be a little late but you have to check out their version of Thriller and Hellfire Then: Whiskey In a Jar Golden Hour Warriors Dream On Seven Nation Army Looking forward to your next reaction
At the end of November last year, Spotify told me I'd listened to this over 400,500 times. And I've listened to it just as much this year. I sleep to it, you see, and if for some reason the music shuts off or my phone resets or something, I wake up. It's my third favorite VoicePlay song. When it came out there were some hilarious reactions. One fellow got so excited he jumped up, forgetting he was only wearing boxers beneath his waist. It was hilarious!💙
Just FYI (I wouldn't want you to have the wrong impression) They do sometimes hire a professional cameraman - when they want a Steadcam operator. You can tell when there is a lot of camera movement instead of more still positions that can be shot with possible multiple cameras on tripods. Coming up for Christmas is an exception. Last year's Christmas song (Jingle Bell Rock) was shot by Tony (Co-owner of PattyCake Productions with Layne and ex-VP baritone) on his iPhone because the cameraman they often work with was already booked.
I looked through the comments before adding if you like video games they have an older "ACA Top 10 Video Games", "Halo Theme" ,"The Dragon Born Comes -Skyrim "and "Sleeping in the Cold Below" also "Still Alive" from Portal which is much older. Also they have a version of "Tennessee Whiskey" that is stunning but not theatrical like the others I mentioned. 12+years of wonderful content on their channel. If you decide to go through their catalog be careful of whiplash because they can go from goofy in the extreme in one video to heartbreaking in the next but always beautifully performed and presented.
Since you liked this, you'll love Valhalla Calling too. They do a wide variety of covers; Disney, Metallica, Queen, Michael Jackson, etc. They've also been labeled the kings of Halloween and considered the theater kids of Acappella. Enjoy this wonderful journey.
As you've seen, they share the actual lead singing. The featured singer is always from outside the group... but sometimes it's J None, who USED to be a member of the group. (He left to sing for the Navy). The beatbox is Layne, front/left in this one. Jose is the big guy in the middle. The 'bald dude' is Eli (rhymes with jelly). Layne and Geoff are founding members, Eli joined in 2010. They are each independently wonderful and have amazing ranges. Maybe listen to Queen in 5 minutes? It's outstanding. It's a bit older, so doesn't show up as quickly in the listings, but it's wonderful.
Love your reaction of VoicePlay. My favorite VP song is ""Valhalla Calling". I would also recommend: "Nothing Else Matters", "Dream On", "Seven Nation Army", "On The Air Tonight", "Thriller", "Be Prepared", "Hellfire", "The Dragonborn Comes". They have a huge library to choose from. Geoff has a trilogy of the LOTR/Hobbit songs "Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold", "I See Fire" & "Song of Durin", which are wonderful. I would also recommend: "Unshaken", "Ghost Rider's In The Sky", "You Don't Mess Around with Jim", "Sound of Silence" & "Ain't No Sunshine".
Thanks for this reaction to VoicePlay's "Hoist the Colours." This one is wonderful! Jose is a featured guest who was also in their "My Mother Told Me" release. Other than VoicePlay, Eli also does voice acting. Cesar sings with others groups some and, I believe, frequently performs at Epcot with one of them. Layne co-owns Pattycake Products Studio with former VoicePlay member, Tony Wakim. Pattycake has its own YT channel. Geoff Castellucci (Cast-tell-loo-chee)'s wife, Kathy, is the longtime Production Manager for both VoicePlay and Geoff's solo work.
Nothing Else Matters. That has to be your next one. And let me just say, you haven't seen anything yet. This was great! Found you guys for the very first time this evening and have watched all your reactions to Geoff and VoicePlay one after another. I have subscribed, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Yes, that is an awesome video - with appearances from just about every horror film character, a great storyline and original music from Tony Wakim (co-owner of Pattycake Productions and ex-VP baritone!) 😊
I enjoyed your reaction. It's always fun seeing new people find my favorite acapella group. I've got a question though. Your choice of thumbnail for this video. Why didn't you use an image from the video? What was that image that you used? Was that even Voiceplay - a very old version of the group including members that are not there anymore? I'm just a little baffled on that point. But it's a small point and I did enjoy the rest of the reaction.
@@oldvsyoungreactions okay, I looked closer at your thumbnail, and it is them from about 7 or 8 years ago. Looks like Geoff, Tony, Eli, Earl, and Layne. Tony left in I think 2018, and Earl left in 2020, so this is definitely an older image.

This one broke a lot of reactors 😅
Thanks for the reaction 🫶🏻
More of Voiceplay or Geoff solo stuff is always appreciated 🎉👏🏻
Great reaction!!
Love you guys!! More VoicePlay please!!

Drunken Sailor was with the same group of 5 plus Bucky. Its a lot of fun and Geoff does his thing as usual.
Nothing Else Matters. That has to be your next one. And let me just say, you haven't seen anything yet.

Front left is Layne Stein. He is the beatboxer. Voiceplay is amazing every time. Looking forward to what you choose to react to next from them!! 😅
We'll accompany your on your VoicePlay trip! ;)
❤❤❤❤❤
You shouldn’t have any copyright issues with Voiceplay nor with Geoff’s personal performance videos. They actually welcome reactors!
Try Pattycake Productions song, Bump in the Night. Layne and friends went crazy with the video and costumes.
Yes, that is an awesome video - with appearances from just about every horror film character, a great storyline and original music from Tony Wakim (co-owner of Pattycake Productions and ex-VP baritone!) 😊

Ummm, where are your headphones? You really need them for some of the nuances you will miss when listening to Voiceplay.
