    Great video. So nice to be able to make your own patterns. Metalliferous used to have the patterned sheets you mentioned in the beginning. They were bought out by Parawire, who still sells them by the foot.

      That’s good to know, thanks. I’ve been wanting to get a few new patterns. I appreciate the info S P!

    Hey Chad, thanks for all of the videos. I was wondering how you like the roller mill that you have in this video. I noticed that it is quite reasonably priced and I thought I would ask your opinion about the value and quality of the mill. I wouldn't use one often enough to justify spending a grand but I could probably handle the under 300 price of this one. Please let me know what you think of it. Thanks again for you time and efforts.

      Sure Treefeller123! It works great for the limited amount of use I give it. It came with wire reducing rollers as well. The biggest drawback is that it is kind of a pain to swap the rollers. You have to pretty much pull the whole thing apart. For my level of use, it’s been fine though. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

      I’ve not tried that before. You should check with the manufacturer of your rolling mill about using aluminum. I would hate for you to damage expensive equipment.

    What can you tell us (accurately) about fabrication in gold-filled? Please and thank you.

    What kind of mill is that you are using?

      Hello Darlene. It’s a cheap model I got years ago from Contenti. They go for about $200. It might be worth investing a little more in a better one:). Biggest downfall is it’s a pain to swap rollers on this one.

      @Chad’s Silversmithing I did a lot of reading and youtube watching yesterday and decided to invest in a better one. Ended up ordering the Pepe 160mm combo. Now I have to learn how to use it. I'm sure it will be fun though!

    How do I turn scrap into sheet without a rolling mill

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  Рік тому

      I suppose if you can cast it into little ingots you could hammer it, anneal it, hammer it, anneal it, until it’s the thickness you want, but it would be hard to get a consistent thickness.

      @@chadssilversmithing i assumed that would be the case. I just want to make sure it can be done. I might just go ahead and get one of those Vevor rolling mills for now until I can get one of the good ones. It would be better than nothing. Thank you!

      @@netcreativedesigns Mine was about a $200 version. Works ok, but with limitations:)
