Cedric's dancing is crazy! I just saw them last week in London... I never watched any videos of TMV live so I was shocked to see how much this man dances around. No wonder he's so skinny;-)
Mars volta is Omars' Collaboration with Cedric bixler Zavala where they create the music together while His Quintet is a Joint effort by other musicians on improvised jams.
This is a prove that The Mars Volta isn't just Omar & Cedric. The Mars Volta is... ¡Ikey!. If you take out Ikey, the band became "Omar Rodríguez-López Group" (wtf). btw, great, great video.
Boiling Death Request is off Se Dice Bisonte No Buffalo, second to last track, its a lot shorter. And Ximena is a new addition and not on any of Omars current solo material.
@jmmatos23 omar doesn't kick them, it's just that each album is so different from the next that the instrumentation demands different things too, Bedlam and Octahedron didn't need a sax player so they didn't record with him. Although, let's hope that he appears in albums in the future, and they get Thomas Pridgen back!
Universal, I think, only lets The Mars Volta put out an album a year or something. Omar generally wants to continue to produce past that and play so he just technically "started" a new group that contained a good amount of Volta musician's anyways. I mean, this is isn't really Volta material though. It fits very well with the rest of Omar's solo albums so it would make sense why they are called this.
the Omar group has a varying number of members, and is more of his experimenting before working with TMV. Normally, Thomas isn't on set but rather Marcel and Cedric is also sparringly in Omar recordings. Paul is also not in the Omar group. Lastly, in terms of style, Omar group is more jam, while TMV is a bit more structured. Omar's Yellow album is basically one bass line and jam solos built around it, to be very simple.
@jmmatos23 They wanted a simpler band for Octo. they didn't need all the members. Omar said it felt like a completely new band without the other members.
omar rodriguez is simply one of the best guitar players in this world...this vid and all of his song prove it
Cedric's dancing is crazy! I just saw them last week in London... I never watched any videos of TMV live so I was shocked to see how much this man dances around. No wonder he's so skinny;-)

I've never seen Cedric sing so well.
Never heard a man sing like this man before
Cedric is the best and Juan I would kiss his hand best bassist I love them the most [cedric is sooo perfect]
Omar Rodriguez Lopez is my favorite composer!! pure genius

Mars volta is Omars' Collaboration with Cedric bixler Zavala where they create the music together while His Quintet is a Joint effort by other musicians on improvised jams.
Awesome!! i love when they improv
Juan's face in this video is so funny, he's having so much fun. Pretty obvious he's not missing Theodore too much
I know; Juan is so often drowned under Omar's noise that when he comes up like this its a breath of fresh air
Money Mark does the keyboard work the Omar Rodriguez Group. He's amazingly talented as well, and it's worth while checking out his other work.
they are The Mars Volta!
Best Band of our Days!!!
live music is always the best!
thomas pruidjen is just rockin!
wow, love the keyboard guy!!
MORE PLEASE
so badass!!
Fuckin awesome, can't get this song out of my head now!
I like how it's essentially The Mars Volta with Money Mark in place of Ikey.
After many years I'm coming to the conclusion this is just The Mars Volta Big Band.
very nice sound
fuckin' love that bass riff.
this is good,I likes this better than the album version... Credric's voice gives it a diferent something...a good something. love it
@SinisterPinguin
Agreed, so simple, but so hypnotic!
lol they look they are having so much fun.
nice knowledge !
@keaton223 this is the omar rodriguez lopez group, not the mars volta. 2007.
Juan fucking amazes me. I don't know how he plays the same 6 note riff for so long without snapping. Let the man solo every once in a while.
What are you on about? This is flawless...
thomas pridgen on drums = gospel chops represent!
The 4th Beastie Boy
Damn, I'm gonna miss Adrian in TMV! he's just so talented and a very, very, VERY good sax player and percussionist. I wonder why Omar kicked him.
Look up "A Clock without a Craftsman" play through by Lee Mckinney. He's the sax on the track and its amazing
hmm...this is the first time i see omar wearing his glasses on stage...haha he looks cool
Is it bad to be addicted to this video? Cause I so am!
Kthnks
Yeah, Omar is a fucking good bass fisherman.
Damn right it is!
This is a prove that The Mars Volta isn't just Omar & Cedric. The Mars Volta is... ¡Ikey!.
If you take out Ikey, the band became "Omar Rodríguez-López Group" (wtf).
btw, great, great video.
so basically the mars volta with a different keyboardist and a different sound? o well...still amazing
i would pay 100 dollars for entire whole show.
Juan looks so happy./
wow
actually John only played on the very last track, if I'm not mistaken Marcel records a lot of the drum tracks in this era.
@1dotonly OMG ME TOO DUDE! I'VE BEEN PLAYING THIS SONG EVERYTIME I PICK UP A BASS FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW.
hey anymore info on the next show please
this still fucking goes hard.
That keyboardist was insane...you know he did something crazy when he makes Omar just stop and watch X)
surely this is better than the studio version!!???
AWESOME just turn up TP
I definitely prefer the version of Solar Gambling but none the less it's cool to see in it's early form
Boiling Death Request A Body To Rest Its Head On... Can anyone possibly think of a better title for a song like this?
I WANT MOOOOOOORE!!!!
ahh icic thanks for clarification bro
@keaton223 No, Ikey just didn't play this tour,
Boiling Death Request is off Se Dice Bisonte No Buffalo, second to last track, its a lot shorter.
And Ximena is a new addition and not on any of Omars current solo material.
@jmmatos23 omar doesn't kick them, it's just that each album is so different from the next that the instrumentation demands different things too, Bedlam and Octahedron didn't need a sax player so they didn't record with him.

WORD
reminds me of can, with damo!

guy on the keys is cool
adrian looks so into it at 2:39
ikey is with tmv, and marke mark played on this record and tour
it's funny as fuck to watch.
And theyre incredible.
i like how it's the mars volta with a different name
YES yes yes :)
money mark kills it during this performance, haha
how many of The Mars Volta group AREN'T on stage?
Essentially this was the Mars volta but I think for legal reasons Omar performed as "Omar Rodriguez lopez group"
where can i get more videos of this concert?
@chickenluva1 It just sucks that without them they can't really play anything from Amputechture, which i feel is their seminal work.
can anybody tell me the time signature/s for the studio version of this song??
thanks
:)
no, it in fact is Money Mark
huge...i want the whole show..where can i get it?
sorry i meant to say its TMV minus Pablo aswell as Ikey (Fenderjbass), but youtube mysteriously decided to place the comment up here....
Could this be a jam off the new album?
the Omar group has a varying number of members, and is more of his experimenting before working with TMV. Mine too
gotta love juan at 00:39
my pops, money mark
qhere dis you get it?? it's amazing, i really wanna know where does it came from
Ikey does have Free Moral Agents, but I don't know why he doesn't play with the ORL group
Ibanez Jetking I think.
@jmmatos23 He didn't really kick him, Adrian said he needed time to take care of his solo projects, he's still touring with his band.
@jmmatos23 They wanted a simpler band for Octo. they didn't need all the members. Omar said it felt like a completely new band without the other members.
Adrian!
@Jkamria014
The only difference is that it is stuff that Volta wont use on their albums or live shows.
@gofusiesbass09 just for bass bro thatd be groovey
Can someone give me the tabs i cant find it anywhere
did this guy play for the mars volta?
If That Is True Than Its Very Good News. I Was A Little Worried But I Figured He'd Be Back Soon.
Money Mark baby!
