    Honestly I can say. I bought the headphones calibration (I have the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II) and now my mixes sound 100 times better than they did before. I can hear the instant improvement in the sound. I recommend !

    Amazing piece of software, this plus a couple of superchunks in your corners and some broadband panels at the first reflection points will work wonders in your studio space. If you pick up Reference on a sale and make your own acoustic treatment you can get a great sounding room for less than 400e!
    It's an essential piece of software for the home/bedroom studio producer imho.

  • @EQuBEMusic
    @EQuBEMusic 6 років тому

    Hey! This looks nice, But why would you turn off the vst before you export? I mean wasn't the point to fix the problem in the room.
    Or do I have to put another EQ and copy what Sonarworks did. It would be great if you can explain it please.

    • @artfxdnb
      @artfxdnb  6 років тому

      The plugin will compensate for the reflections your room has, so this is only important to YOU in YOUR room. Your room affects the way your music sounds when it comes out of your speakers. If you have studio monitors with a flat frequency response but you place them in an untreated room, your room's reflections will affect that flat frequency curve and thus it'll alter the way your speakers sound. Sonarworks Reference will add EQ curves to compensate for what your room does to your audio, so that the reflections are less noticeable and your music sounds closer to what it should sound like in a properly treated studio. However, this only applies to YOUR speaker setup in YOUR room, use the same calibration in another studio or room and it'll sound completely different. This means that you only want to have the plugin turned on when YOU are working on a track so you can hear properly what you are doing, but you don't want that calibration to be captured inside of the audio upon export, because then the calibration for YOUR room would be applied to the room of the listener of your track (and he/she is obviously in a different room than you).

      Yeah it does sound weird when you are not used to it, but after a while your ears adjust and then it sounds much better.

      well the comparisons in this vid are going to sound weird on any viewer listening device..since wet audio is running thruough your specific profiles :). Anyway really great video - jst not sure if its worth doin this vs paying someone local that helps put studios together.

    ARTFX hi, what do you say about your monitors? Is it enough for you?

    • @artfxdnb
      @artfxdnb  6 років тому

      I know them very well so yes it's good enough, however that doesn't mean I don't want to upgrade to something better.

    whats the intro tune? sounds smooth man! btw with your calibration it sounded super bass booster in my headphones, aint flat suppost to balance it out more and not make it more bassy? or am i wrong :) ofc my heaphones are not the same as yours!

    • @artfxdnb
      @artfxdnb  6 років тому +1

      Yeah that's the thing you should understand, it only translates properly on my system and not on yours, because the calibration is a measurement of my room and not yours. My monitor speakers lack bass, so seeing an increase in bass after the calibration makes perfect sense.

    • @Neero_90
      @Neero_90 6 років тому

    Tried using this before but it's meh, makes everything lifeless, boring... Not every listener going to have high end speakers, heck most people just use cheap headphones... lol, people make such a fuss getting 100% flat frequency response.. Back in the day people who never had money to buy good speakers, and had no software like this still could make professional sounding mix downs. Plus you can use all the meters in the world as a reference point, or if you can reference headphones, some speakers, and yes even on phones, if every one sounds pretty good, it will be good as in a club.. as most club speakers are only in Mono, like i say majority of people not willing to spend much on "studio speakers" who just enjoys listening to music.. :D

    • @artfxdnb
      @artfxdnb  6 років тому +1

      Whatever people listen on has nothing to do with this to begin with, so your point is kind of invalid right away. I do agree with you on most of it, but yes it might make it sound lifeless and boring, because the speakers you use are colouring the sound to make it sound more interesting. Which means, that if you can get your track to sound good on a flat frequency curve, it'll usually translate well to most systems. That is why a lot of people go advocate for a flat frequency response. In the end the tool is just for you to be able to get rid of actual issues with the hardware you use, so you get a better representation of the music you are making.
      I don't get why you bring the listener into your argument, because the listener will never hear the effect of this tool. The point is to use this tool during the production of your track so you as a producer get a flatter response, then when the track is done for export you turn the plugin off.

      ARTFX Exactly. Everyone is praising Reference that I almost got curious. But after tying the demo again for a while I kind of get used to and start to like it. Maybe you remember, I was asking some questions about Reference in one of your last live streams. I would still like to hear negative experiences.

      The algorithms that are used in this software is reliable. A lot of science about acoustic accuracy in spatial environments are in this software. It's not placebo.
