Kharkovchanka - The Soviet Antarctic Snow Cruiser

- The Soviet Union had its own version of the Antarctic Snow Cruiser. But while the famous American giant died in the snows of Antarctica, the Soviet Kharkovchanka vehicles still serve Russian polar explorations on the frozen continent. The Kharkovchanka was built in the late 1950s and featured everything the soviet antarctic explorers could need on their journey. While crossing thousands of miles, the snow cruiser visited the pole of inaccesibility, the South Pole and dozens of research stations on the antarctic continent. In 1975, more advanced Kharkovchanka-2 off-roaders were designed and used for future missions. They are the main vehicles used by Russian polar expeditions today. A third version was planned but never realised due to the Soviet fall.

is this like an offbrand mustard video? its got the same kind of thumbnail and animation style
I really love Mustard's videos so i got a lot of inspiration from there. I still need to find my own style and maybe try something new in the future.
@@simplicitas4814 hope you can find a suitable style, good luck
@@moneymuffin2005 Thank you!
@@simplicitas4814 I'd honestly recommend either experimenting with other TTS or ditching it all together and working on your confidence narrating. In the current YT climate there are so many poorly made "news/historical" videos that it brings with it a low confidence in accuracy.
The follow on reason is purely personal but I really, REALLY find Text-to-Speech narration irritable to the ear and just makes me want to click off the moment it started. I eagerly hope to see what you manage in the coming years! :D
@@FireWarrior2013 Thanks for your comment. I absolutely agree with you! I am also not a big fan of TTS myself. I will try to find a better one for future videos. I'm not used to it but narrating might also be a plausible option for upcoming videos :D
The video’s quality is unreal for a channel with 100 subs. Keep up the good work!
Missed opportunity not naming your channel Ketchup to compete against Mustard lmao
But for real though nice video, i defo see potential here. As a wise Sith once said, we'll be watching your career with great interest
Nice video, looking forward for more contents like this.
Your animation is amazing. Hope this channel grows fast
Really impressive for a first vid. Well done!
I can see the mustard inspiration from this video and i really dig it! Awesome video.
Finally another channel that’s like Found & explained and mustard, giving you a sub!
here before this channel hopefully blows up 💯
Bro keep up the grind !
I guess now I know where to go when mustard doesn’t post lol. I’ll stick around and I’d love to see your channel expand and watch it grow as well as your art style. You earned your 270th sub.
Great video! Keep it up! Im subscribing
Nice, I love engineering video history like this
I've always been fascinated by this awesome vehicle. Thank you for the amazing quality and work on the video!
This video deserves more attention
I really don't understand why Americans didn't use tracks for the Antarctic Snow Cruiser, maybe because the whole body was too big for any tank chassis but still they should have considered a better design.
I still wonder of we'll find it one day.
Well, to be fair, Jeremy Clarkson didn't _yet_ make his own toyota episode of conquering the south pole. But it is coming. :D
kep up the good work 😀
this channel is underrated
Oye, great inspiration!
Good luck with your channel
Love this, only thing I’m not feeling is the electronic voice. It’s very uncanny valley
Correction, the Russians don't use Kharkovchankas anymore, they stopped using the final one in 2010 as far as I know, they used MT-T, DT-30P Vityaz, then PistenBully 300 vehicles after these. Also I'm not sure if there were 5 first generation Kharkovchankas, I know that sources are scant on this, but from images, it appears that only 3 were made of the initial design. As far as I know, 3 went to Mirny, but only two of them plus an AT-T made the trip to the main US base. But you have shown photos of the second generation Kharkovchankas, so that's a bonus point.
Wow this looks so old but apparently it stopped being used as recently as 2010(yeah still almost 13 years ago but it ain’t 40).
Awesome video! Looking forward to MORE of this content. Is there anyway to get in contact with you?
Hi Jayden. Thanks for your comment! You can reach me at any time via my email: simplicitastv@gmail.com
A very interesting video actually! Btw I have the video of the insides of such a vehicle that I've managed to make while being at the Antarctic station Progress in February 2020.
Hey Nick, Thank you! I've seen your video before. Pretty amazing seeing such a vehicle in person. There are probably not many people that have seen a real Kharkovchanka.
@@simplicitas4814, wow, thanks for such words! I'm honored!)
Glad you liked my content!
More videos pls
remember me when you have 400 000 subs:)

Love it. Isn't it brilliant when we put our minds to something and use it for other stuff apart from killing the fuck out of one another 💯💛👍
Reminds me of Mustard’s videos.
war-less tank

all though no shading i do like the editing and reminds me of mustard

Use your real voice rather than bot voice....this will be a great success...
The whole channel is a copy of mustard, MY god
So the Soviets didn't copy everything from the Americans.
This is just an AI copy of Mustard
