    Very timely video. I'll be starting medical school as a 49 year old career changer and my wife and I want to be able to do some saving while I am in school. Thank you for this and all of your videos!

    highly recommend people look into 3 year MD programs - I'm an M2 in a 3 year MD program in New York - comes with a guarenteed residency spot if I stay at my school. I'm going into EM
    Definitely a good way to save $$$!

    Jeez, when my mom graduated med school in 1993 she had 80,000 in student debt. She said it took her a long time to pay it off but she’s thankful she worked hard because she’s now a Radiation Oncologist and has been for 26 years, so she was able to pay it off

    100% go with roommates. I’m in KCMO for med school and my share of rent is $300 + $50 for utilities. Most of my classmates pay around $1000. Also, I don’t know what I’d do without my roommates since Covid severely limits interacting with other classmates.

      I 100 percent agree with you. I am not in medical school but I am in graduate school and I am lucky enough to live with my parents and I don't have to pay anything right now.

    Tell me how to book Dr. Webb for my local school district. We partner with a local state funded clinic that exposes students to jobs in the medical field. While I was on the Board of Education, I never saw more focused, happy students so excited about their future. You’d bring them to the next level Dr. Webb!

    Really enjoy this channel. Very inspirational and motivational messages for even those of us outside the medical community. Also, very practical advice. Just finished my second master’s in December. This site got me through some of the long nights. Lastlly, extremely proud of the success of a fellow Airman. Joseph A. Figueroa, CMSgt (ret).

    Federal Work-Study (FWS) working as an anatomy tutor and as a research assistant has saved me a few thousand in loans that I won't have to repay down the road after medical school!

      @@lilrabbitcuz Should have also clarified I didn’t do both at the same time. What was nice was that anatomy I have to know and continue refining so it was like double dipping being a tutor while also getting some awesome boards prep, too. Now that boards are done and anatomy currently online, I transitioned to research

    My apartman costs were about 1500 USD/3 year in my uni town (EU). After that I was able to get a job for two days/week, and later a scholarship. If you give up some things, you get other things in the future. :-)

    Not really considered “saving”, rather didn’t have to borrow an additional $50k because you had a roommate.

    • @bally2203
      @bally2203 3 роки тому

      Yes, they do it all the time. However, some students attach sentimental value to their books and would likely not sell. Also, when I started dental school, our textbooks were in electronic format. So, those you couldn’t sell

    I have a question sorry its unrelated to the video. So I started working as a CNA (It has in the job training) thinking it would be a great resume booster. Since I'm applying to med school this year. However, I hate the job... its not giving me the job satisfaction I was expecting. I know doctors don't do CNA work... however.... does me not liking this line of work mean I won't like being a doctor???... I love the residents of the nursing home. But I feel discusted with the level of care provided at the facility (after what i saw i refuse to ever let anyone in my family go to one) also the resident to cna ratio is horrible!!!... its a very labor heavy job and they expect you to work a floor of 20 residents... God forbid during meals when you have 4 resident who can't feed themselves and one person working the foor... it feels highly discouraging. Any words/opinions on this? I always felt I wanted to work in medicine, I have other experiences, but this one was pretty ugly.
    Thank you!!!!

      @megancohannah3423 3 роки тому

      Oh also the pay is pathetic, you can make more at walmart mopping floors!

      Well I am a CNA and you're not lying about your experience. Your experience is what many aides can relate to. Here's how I stay successful and create success for myself in it: do my best to put my best foot forward (meaning, my attitude and disposition). I gravitate towards coworkers who are like minded in reference to the level of ethical and optimum care. If that fellow peer is off that shift that I'm I'm working, no problem, I'll be that light on the job and illuminate the light of Jesus that's in me (I'm not perfect so don't hold me).
      Yes, this field requires special people to work in it. I work out very regularly. I purposely rest on my days off and I live life! I rehabilitate my body when it's sore! I think ahead of how to work smarter not harder in this field. So much more I can add and I will thanks to you. I will create a video on this very topic.
      So, at this moment I'm a traveling aide. No, I don't want to remain an aide always I'd like to become an Rn (God willing). I appreciate your comment and I wish you nothing but success and blessings on your life from God. Take care.

      @@LivingOnPurpose1 thank you for your response and words of encouragement. I just feel so bad. Because I'm so slow on my rounds every resident soaked through the clothes and the bed. And I just feel so bad. I know with experience comes speed but no one should be laying there in the own waste.. Because I'm new... idk.. my first night on the floor ( on my own) a man fell and coded. Like its just heart breaking to think... im worried if he tried to get up (without calling me) because I was so slow and he knew I was new and was trying to help. Idk if that makes sense... but my heart is breaking.

    • @LivingOnPurpose1
      @LivingOnPurpose1 3 роки тому +1

      @@megancohannah3423 Yes it all makes sense. If I could hug you right now I'd say hush, things will get better for you. Don't worry too much about your pace. Just learn your peoples, get your game plan in order, get your supplies early. Find that 1 coworker who you can team up with and work together. Always pray before, during and after work. Have goals and then aim to accomplish them.
      I've made 2 videos talking about taking care of our body's as aides. Also maybe an assisted living facility might be lighter for you. Look into it/pray and ask the Lord what to do.
