So med school applications has evolved into who can spin the best tales to match the medical schools......how many of these students really follow what they say in their applications. Let's state the obvious....medicine pays well, recession proof and still might have status.
I feel relieved seeing how passionate these deans are about ensuring that the applicants prioritize and value THEIR experience and doing the things we are passionate about :)
Gee! I wonder what kind of MCAT score, Dr.Megan had as a student, to have this kind of insecurity around high performing kids…never in my wildest dreams would have thought, a kid with a perfect score with all the hardwork would be actually at a disadvantage if their application ended up in the hands of people like Dr. Megan! 😮

Why do US candidates have to take multiple gap years and work harder to get into a medical school. Foreign med school graduates become doctors at 23, they do great at USMLEs because of comparatively more free time they get to prepare for the exams. Many have minimal clinical experience in US, sometimes have accents and not much knowledge of the US cultural nuances. They succeed in getting into residencies easily. Seems unfair to US candidates.

Dr Megan just cares about screening out an application. She made uci much harder to get in
