I once caught 2 spotted bass at a time (on one cast) FIVE TIMES in one day on Lake Mitchell. Anytime you have spots schooled up and gorging on shad, you'll get followers that chase your hooked bass, trying to snatch a free, easy meal. All you have to do is work your hooked bass in a figure '8' at the boat, like musky fishermen do. That particular day, I was throwing a ¼oz Rat-L-trap. Each time I had followers, I'd work my hooked bass in a figure '8' at the boat. Inevitably, what happens is the followers see the shad-looking bait hanging out of your fish's mouth and, thinking it's a shad, they chomp on it. When that happened, I'd just swing them aboard. A 3¼lber and a 2¾lber were my best 2 at a time weight that day for 6lbs; not very much, I know- (my PB spot is a 7lb 1oz behemoth)- but still, for 2 at a time, that's not dinks. Next time you find spots gorging, spitting up shad, and have followers, try the figure '8'. I PROMISE it flat out works. FIVE TIMES in one day!
