    Not to mention that Hogan also did everything in his power to steal Savage's spotlight despite Savage being the Champion. In both kayfabe and real life. And then there was Andre the Giant who demanded a title shot, which he earned for years and years of being undefeated, which Hogan rejected because they were "friends". Mate, you're not supposed to fight to the death. If you're really a friend you'll give your buddy the title match he deserves and call it friendly competition. No wonder Andre finally had enough of this sack of shit and forced his hand. Don't listen to the lies history tries to tell you. Hogan was a heel from the very beginning.

      Andre didn't get a title shot before turning heel because he never asked for one. At the press conference leading up to Wrestlemania III when they signed the contract for their match, Hogan said "If you wanted a title shot so badly, all you had to do was ask!".

    • @Wurzelknecht
      @Wurzelknecht 7 років тому +15

      ryan macdonald And he did. And Hogan turned him down because they were "friends". It took Andre ripping the necklace with the cross off of Hogan's chest and become hostile for Hogan to finally agree.

      Wurzelknecht you do know it was actually Vince who was giving Andre one last push because his health was deteriorating. After Andre being baby face for 15 years the only way to give him such a huge push was to turn him heel, something people thought would never happen.

    • @Wurzelknecht
      @Wurzelknecht 7 років тому +17

      *****
      Just pointing out how ridiculous it is from today's perspective to see Hogan's character as a babyface when everything he ever did and said makes him just look like a massive cunt and everything the supposed heels like André or Savage or later Sid say makes perfect sense and their anger at Hogan seems completely justified.

    Christian in 2011 comes to mind, the guy won the title in a grueling ladder match only to defend it 5 days later, then loses the title to Orton and turns on him eventually, the crowd starts booing and Christian says "When I won the title you were cheering, now you boo because I attacked orton? that means you fans are fake or you wouldn't boo anything I do if u were really fans of me" he said something to the effect, but it was very justifiable.

      ^Yeah and also I forgot to mention that the fans were the one who wanted to see him defend the title anyways after that ladder match, so that also adds on to his peeps being "liars" and "fakes".

    • @marcusstewart2025
      @marcusstewart2025 8 років тому +7

      You could easily argue that Christian had only himself to blame. Orton requested the match, Christian agreed, then lost fair and square. That's not Orton's fault. No one forced Christian to compete. Plus Christian attacking Orton simply because he can't beat him isn't a justifiable reason. If I keep losing to someone fair and sqaure, is it okay for me to snap and assault that person? It's just bad form, and the fans simply called Christian out on it because he should be better than that.

    • @1stSolidSnake
      @1stSolidSnake 8 років тому +11

      Yes! I was thinking about him this whole video but I think they were talking about faces who turned heel. Hassan was a "heel" since he started just because he had something in Arabic in his theme song. But you are absolutely right about how he was trying to fight islamophobes and racists everywhere he traveled. Even after that incident you mention, he kinda broke kayfabe and read an article from the NY times if I remember correctly. He was 100% right about all what he said but he was booed anyway sadly revealing the ugly truth about people there at that time..

    How about Sid Justice after Royal Rumble 1992? Sid legally eliminated Hogan, only for Hogan to grab his arm from the outside and give Ric Flair the ability to win. I was still quite young at the time and didn't understand why that made Sid the bad guy and Hogan was still the good guy. I didn't blame Sid for walking out on Hulk in the Saturday Night's Main Event match a few weeks later at all.

    • @girlgarde
      @girlgarde 7 років тому +7

    • @Xehanort10
      @Xehanort10 6 років тому +8

      Exactly. Sid was just doing what you're supposed to do in a Rumble which is eliminate your opponents. Hogan was just being a sore loser for eliminating Sid just because Sid eliminated him. WWE have always had this backwards morality "Anything our top face characters do is justified just because they're the top face but anything anyone does to them is wrong" thing going on.

    And even the most famous heel turn of all - Hulk Hogan at Bash At The Beach 1996 was justified because of the way Hogan was booed in WCW in the months leading up to The Bash.
    "And the reception I got when I came out here, you fans can stick it brother!!" That says it all.

    The one that angered me the most? Christian's heel turn after losing the Heavyweight Title. Bad officiating cost him the match in his last title shot, a fact that GM Teddy Long acknowledged before saying that it was too bad for Christian. Denied an opportunity by the management that said that he was done wrong but that they were not going to remedy the matter, of course he became hostile and bitter; wouldn't you?

    This is why CM Punk shouldn't have turned heel only because he opposed the Rock. Turning him heel just further showed that the company did not believe in him as a main eventer. Sure, he held the championship for 434 days, but only after he turned into a cowardly little man that would even get on his knees for the boss that a year ago could not even handle the political power and charisma of Punk. And all because he doesn't like the Rock. And as was said in this video, he had good reason not to!
    Anybody who doesn't like the Rock or John Cena (and now Roman Reigns) is a bad person with no morals. The most disgusting thing is that the part-timer Hollywood actor Rock wins it from Punk only to drop it to John Cena 3 months later in a rematch nobody wanted and to grant a world title to someone who had already been fed too many world championships (and was always put above Punk in the card).
    Disgusting, all of it. Punk was a great heel in this run, but he did not need to be. Not when he had such great momentum as a face... as THE face.

    CM Punk was also justified in his feud with Jeff Hardy. He got poked in the eye during a match and because he couldn't see, he kicked the referee and got disqualified. Jeff then went on to accuse him of doing it on purpose and when they were tagging together, Punk tried to tag Hardy in but he then faked an eye injury and fell of the apron. Hardy (and the crowd) just kept accusing him of being a cheater so eventually he called Jeff out for being a drug addict and a bad influence for children watching the show. He was speaking AGAINST DRUGS and he was boo'd for that. That is fucked up.

    And when Roman turns heel, you know, when hell freezes over, it'll be the most justified heel turn in WWE. The Strong guy in a team of 3 betrayed by his friend at the peak of their teams popularity, so that his 'friend' could pursue championship gold, eventually pushed to matches against the likes of Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar, eventually winning the title and defending it convincingly (with shitty booking mind) constantly boo'ed by the people he'd been trying to entertain, trying to gain favor with the crowd by following the rules etc.etc. and is still constantly booed. It only makes sense that WWE turn hi heel, but as we know, WWE doesn't make sense.

    CM Punk had another good one in 2009. He cashed in MITB on Jeff Hardy after he won the World Title from Edge in a ladder match, and the fans HATED him for it. Punk repeatedly said it was nothing personal. He was going to cash-in that night regardless of who won. He then called out the fans on their hypocrisy by reminding them that when he used MITB on Edge a year earlier, he was treated like a hero. So why is he suddenly a terrible person for doing the same to Jeff? That was a great turn, as Punk kept trying to stay good but was so turned off by the fan's reaction that it he eventually went "No, fuck YOU."

    • @TheGruntCrusader
      @TheGruntCrusader 8 років тому

      Speaking of turning on Jeff, what about Matt Hardy? He had a pretty justified reason. He raised Jeff, taught him how to compete and took him under his wing all the way to the WWE, then Jeff got more and more popular. The fans cheered him more, he was booked better, there was clearly favoritism by the company as well. Then to go on top of that, as Matt lost the ECW title (the least prestigious main title) , Jeff won the WWE title, to a heroes ovation. He had to watch his career become mediocre, while Jeff sky rocketed to the top of the mountain. It made perfect sense for him to turn on Jeff.

    • @marcusstewart2025
      @marcusstewart2025 8 років тому +1

      No way dude, that's a HUGE stretch. In short, Matt was jealous of Jeff. That is not a good reason to turn on him, let alone try to KILL him.
      Did you forget that in Matt's jealousy, he burned Jeff's house down (killing his dog), tried to run him and his girlfriend off the road, and sabotaged his pryo in an attempt to blow Jeff up?
      You don't do that to your brother, especially over something as trivial as "people like him more than me". It's not Jeff's fault that he could actually win the big one.

      It wasn't Jeff's fault, but jealousy has driven people there in real life. Some girl killed her best friend because she thought her crush was into her friend more than her. Rational? No. But it's real.

    Test is one that comes to my mind when he joined The Alliance, The APA were aware that there was a mole letting the WCW guys in the building, APA along with most of the other mid-carders thought that Test was the mole and they cause him to loose a match to Rhyno as they all then ganged up on him, then Stg. Slaughter let them know that Test wasn't the mole, then a week later they try to apologize to Test but he didn't want anything to do with them, then when the Alliance was formed, Test turned on The APA by helping DDP and Kanyon win the WWF/E Tag belts, nevermind that he and Stephanie had their fall out a year and a half earlier that slowly continued until April 2001,

      I've always said he would benefit greatly by acting like Austin in 1997 or Lesnar in 2002, just beat people up and never caring about anything, getting DQ'd all the time etc. Only problem is this would get him cheered. But then the good turn would be easy, just have Reigns beat up bad guys instead of everyone.

    The Miz was heel for the right actions. The Miz was a reality tv star, the entire locker room hated him for it. They told him he wasn't talented, he even got kicked out of the locker room for eating chicken over someone's bag. The Miz soon won the 2010 Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match and cashed in on Randy Orton to become the MOST SUCCESSFUL Tough Enough contestant in WWE history. The Miz went on to main event Wrestlemania 27 and beat John Cena. Proving that he has more talent than anyone had ever guessed. #PushMiz

    CM Punk was justified when he formed the New Nexus to get revenge on Randy Orton in 2011 because in 2008 Randy Orton and his group Legacy attacked and injured Punk just as he was about to defend the World Heavyweight Championship. The only thing that made Punk a heel in that feud was that he was just using the other members of the New Nexus to get back at Orton and he didn't really care about them. Otherwise Punk was the face in that feud and Orton was the heel. The only heelish things Punk did were threatening Orton's wife, trying to turn The New Nexus into a 2nd Straight Edge Society with sadistic punishments like whipping the members to basically try and brainwash them into doing as he said and not giving a shit about the other members and just seeing them as tools in his revenge on Orton.

    Lita turning heel by betraying Kane and joining Edge was justified since Kane had basically raped Lita by forcing her to sleep with him and gotten her pregnant with his child. The part of that storyline that didn't make sense were when Lita was pissed off at Snitsky for causing her to miscarry by hitting Kane in the back with a chair causing Kane to fall on top of Lita and Lita wanted Kane to avenge their child by beating the shit out of Snitsky even though she never wanted the baby to begin with. But that was cleared up when she later thanked Snitsky for causing her miscarriage. So no wonder Lita helped Edge beat Kane in the Gold Rush tournament final.
