Thanks for the video, very helpful! The reason the acne cleanser has SA listed as an active ingredient isn’t because there’s more of it, it’s because it’s treating a medical condition (acne) while the other one isn’t purporting to serve a medical purpose. It’s possible and maybe even provable that there’s more SA in the acne cleanser, but we still don’t know for sure

If you have inflamed acne then use the CeraVe acne foaming cleanser that contains 4% benzoyl peroxide. Its meant for inflamed acne as the one with salicylic acid is meant for white heads and blackheads so it really won't help with cystic inflamed acne.

Just bought both of these 2 days ago. Not going to lie… I’m going to buy anything Cerave launches. They also have a Psoriasis 2% SA cleanser that nobody seems to talk about - been using that one for over a year with great results. (I don’t actually have psoriasis. I bought it for the 2% SA and other good ingredients.)
I also loooove their packaging (except the random BP tube - ?? Where’s the pump bottle?) There is something calming and magical about the collection of all those perfectly rectangular bottles lined up waiting to take care of my skin. 🥰

I heard from a derm yesterday that because the Renewing SA Cleanser doesn't claim to control acne, they didn't have to have a drug label and separate the active from the inactive ingredients and also doesn't have to say how much sal. acid it has. Because the other two cleansers claim to help with acne, they tell the amount of the active ingredient.

    • @Carlos-nz3vi

Nice review! I believe the reason SA is listed as an active ingredient in the Acne Control Cleanser is because the marketing/label is making a claim it will provide a specific result in controlling acne and therefore they need to specify which ingredients accomplish the claim. Two different representatives at CeraVe both disclosed when I called, the Renewing SA Cleanser contains 2% SA as well. I too was disappointed by the "foaming" with the Renewing and feel I use more product to compensate for the lack of foam.

That's a link to Paula's Choice Skincare Dictionary. I don't know much about corn oil in particular, but not all oils are bad (some can clog your pores, not all). Oils can act as an occlusive Layer to help with moisturizing your skin by trapping the water molecules in. That's why people will recommend using Rosehip SEED oil or Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil, etc.
To me it seems Corn oil is one of the good ones based on this link, and at the end of the day, you are using it in a wash-off treatment with a chemical exfoliant in there so I really doubt it's going to clog your pores.

Girl! This is crazy! Last night before I fell asleep I was thinking about how I was ready to switch back to a 2% salicylic acid face wash (I used to use the PTR one) now that my skin is acclimated to my Tretinoin cream! so thank you for uploading this early! We seem to have very similar skin so I really appreciate your recommendations:) Do you think the creamy formula would work well with a FOREO Luna? Also, for anyone wondering, 2% SA is a whole different ballgame than a cleanser with the “standard” amount! It’s sooooooo much more effective. I’m deathly allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide so I’m happy they came out with 2 different options.

I found the cerave SA cleanser irritating on meh skin surprisingly. Good for my body but horrible for my face. It's actually put me off trying their other cleansers on my face unfortunately. I'm super oily, easily congested, but also very sensitive :/ x

And obviously skincare has changed a lot in that period of time. So it's good to know that salicylic acid deffo works for me.
