Most likely, the protagonist of this film will become one of the strangers in the future due to the trauma caused by the three invaders. This would explain the origin and "motivation" of the strangers, People traumatized by invaders who become other invaders.
I actually would be down for this take. Never thought about it like that. Brilliant!
Idk about this new series being a prequel. They released a clip the other day showing Madeline’s character putting down a smartphone from the mid to late 2010s.
However I might see a prequel angle with the whole “see how the strangers became the strangers” tagline and the fact that the trio of killers appear to be much younger than the original trio from the first two movies.
If this really is some type of prequel I REALLY think Madeline will become a stranger by the end of the 3rd film. Especially with the "witness how the strangers became the strangers" thing, I think it'll be her origin of going insane
I just watched an interview with the producer and he said that the next two movies will explore how something traumatic like this, affects someone in the future. So, they spoiled she lives but I think that helps us look forward to the future.
I kinda wish the trailer was more ambiguous.
It revealed wayyyyyy to much.
Excited to see what happens with this trilogy but also very nervous that when they go into the back story of the strangers that it is gonna ruin the suspense and eeriness of not knowing who they are and why they do what they do. Love hearing your opinion on it!
It’s literally the same thing as the 2008 film. And honestly doesn’t look as creepy. How they are going to stretch this into three films will be interesting to see…I don’t have much confidence lol.

I think it looks like people that are the strangers in this new trilogy aren’t really the strangers? For me they kind of look like young adults? Especially Sack head and Pin up girl, the two appear to be a young couple in this one.
With this being billed as an origin story I think that’s purposeful. Same k*llers at different points in their lives. I’m excited to learn more about it in May!

My main theory going into the trilogy has been that they are going to do some type of cult thing with the strangers (to explain why the prey at night trio canonically died, yet they can continue doing more movies, and also to differentiate their versions of the strangers to the previous ones). Going off this trailer, it looks like the strangers are all teenagers, but the timeline doesn't really make sense, so I wonder if it is a cult thing and this movie is like the initiation for the teenage killers to become "strangers", but it probably doesn't go the way they expected 🤔

I have a feeling, based off the interviews with the director and producer, that they're gonna do something like that where Madelaine goes psycho (either becoming a stranger or becoming an anti-stranger). We'll see tho, maybe the writers are intelligent and actually do something unexpected 😅
Jake, they should do this one film every one year for The Strangers Trilogy. But this is a remake reboot of the trilogy.

I guess they haven’t seen TCM, hills have eyes or wrong turn but seriously they should pick up on these red flags in this day and age! Even a motel 6 seems safer than this Airbnb, because at least there are people around. And let’s be real, that looks like an expensive Airbnb💀
Not cannon - that could work. Cannon - that could work too. Declaring it cannon at the last minute in order to shoehorn it into the original films doesn’t fill me with confidence. I’m still optimistic and curious to see where they take it after the first film. Richard Brake is a plus.

Because that makes no sense. This isn't they're home they just came to this cabin. That line only works for the first film. Just like in prey at night the line is "why not"

Exactly! Give me a reason to go watch! Unfortunately, for me, this trailer just doesnt do it. Im still mildly excited, but i dont want another cookie cutter remake, you know? Give me something new! Familiar, but not the exact same movie. Fingers crossed 🤞

Feels like too many of the scares were given away in this trailer. The missionary kids on bikes seem like an interesting touch given we see the same in the original.
