Actually, Mona Lisa Vito is the co-captain of the ship: she took the pictures, she understood what they meant just as he did; it was her testimony that clinched and won the case. There are TWO captains of this ship!

"It is possible that the two yutes..."
"...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?"
    "Uh... what word?"
    "Two what?"
    "What?"
    "Uh... did you say yutes?"
    "Yeah, two yutes."
    "What is a yute?"
"Oh, excuse me, your honor... Two YOUTHS."
I love this movie. There's no real bad guy in this movie (except if you consider the real murderers) and once the innocence of Bill and Stan becomes clear, all charges are dropped.
Fun Fact: During John Gibbons' (Austin Pendleton) opening statement, after he slaps a juror on the shoulder, Joe Pesci, Ralph Macchio, and Mitchell Whitfield can be seen trying to stifle their laughter.
Lost In Translation Fact: The misunderstanding between Vincent Gambini and Judge Haller (Fred Gwynne) regarding the two "youts" was in fact a real conversation between Joe Pesci and director Jonathan Lynn. Lynn, who is British, at first had a hard time understanding Pesci's pronounced New York accent. He decided that the routine was quite funny and put it in the film.
Wise Owl Fact: According to director Jonathan Lynn, the eastern screech owl in the scene in the woods was a real owl that had a little prior training so it wouldn't be scared away by the gunfire. The crew got it to open its mouth by giving it little pieces of beef, and artificially induced screeches were added to the film in post production. The owl's reaction to Vinny (Joe Pesci) shooting the gun was authentic and needed only one take.
Law Enthusiast Fact: Director Jonathan Lynn actually has a law degree and insists the film's legal proceedings be realistic. In fact, many attorneys and law professors have praised the film for its accurate depiction of trial strategy and courtroom procedure, especially with regards to presenting expert witnesses at trial. In fact, the film has been screened at some law schools to illustrate courtroom procedures. The American Bar Association's publication, the ABA Journal, ranked the film #3 on its list of the 25 Greatest Legal Movies.

Pretty much everything about the courtroom procedure is accurate except for the fact that the prelim, jury selection and trial all happened within approximately a weeks time 😂

Thank you for reacting to this! Such a classic, it’s one of the only movies I’ve shown people that no one has disliked.
This film has excellent timing, top tier writing, structurally sound law, and phenomenal acting from the leads and supporting characters.
One of the all time greats. It’s also so very incredibly quotable!
    “Yeah, you blend”
    “I’m finished with this guy”
    “You were serious about that?”
    “I-dentical”
“Maybe it was a bad time to bring it up”

@Mr. Valentine We all knew Joe Pesci was one of the best actors of all time, to be able to be scary or truly loveable..... the find in THIS film to me was how well Marisa Tomei who was amazing. Loved others in the cast as well in this comic gem. So glad you appreciated this

I saw this one a few months ago, recorded off Showtime. I kinda knew about it generally, but ur right, coming in stone cold is the way to see a movie, lol! Anticipation is great (I am old enuf to have been lucky enuf to have experienced the exquisite torture of waiting for all three LOTR films to debut from 200-2003!), but sometimes, as you alluded to, just surrendering to the mystery of "Huh. I like this actor, let's see what it's about" is great as well!

i saw this amazingly hilarious film in the theater with my mom when i was 16 years old in 1992...anyway, Dutch Angle: does that term derive from oil painting, sir? ...btw, just finished ur lotr trilogy, & ur vocabulary is brillaint, im 47 years old now with a vocabulary that is WAY above average but gave me quite a run for my money there, i had to look up the word "Traduce", ha, & thank you for that, LOL....always nice to learn a new one, haha.

Some facts about this movie the scene with the owl wasn't planned it happened to land on the tree so it was used in the shot before it could leave and when the stuttering public defender speaks in the courtroom for the first time if you look closely in the background the actors are holding in their laughter

"Can we deliberate", Mr. Valentine asks. Good grief, if they had simply asked, from the get-go, what they were arrested for/charged with, the whole thing would have been different - there would have been no questioning response in shock and disbelief " I shot the clerk?". Always ask questions but never answer questions - Fifth Amendment.

The absolute best movie Joe Pesci has ever been in is Oliver Stone's magnum opus, JFK. It is long but it is well worth your effort to watch and edit your reaction to it. A lot of people will be drawn to your channel if you do, as there are a ton of fans out here for that movie.
One of your competitors, TBR Schmidt, reacted to it last week, incidentally. And it accounts for about the only reaction I've seen of someone who actually got the message the movie was presenting. A summary of their response, since you likely won't want to check it out yourself, is that it blew them away. They said it was a movie that every person in the country needs to see, to which I agree. And I would love to see your take on it.
