The wood fire heat exchanger is what drew me to this video.
I'm collecting ideas for my own kiln build, and want to add various types of heating to keep it running year round. So I am very appreciatative for your time and ideas. Thank you

What is the Lowest you Moistier Meter will read ? OR What was going on with the meter ? I am not doubting your wood is dry, just wonder what was going on with the meter ?

Below 10% it just reads low. Above 10%moisture will give actual reading
So it’s reading low I am at 10% or less then I measure the shrinkage

Own plan. Door opening is 17’4”. I wanted to be able to shuffle 16’6” material

That’s a really nice looking kiln , I can’t tell how you close it up , what is the door design

Originally, I was going to make a four-door folding like you see on all the others. I have two very thick canvas tarps like ones on a circus tent put one on the inside and I have 4 inch foam panels that I put in and then put the other one on the outside. At first, I was using that only as temporary until I built the doors, but it worked so well and it’s so convenient when I just pull everything down when I’m ready to unload and I don’t have any of the doors in my way I am a little confined to space next to my forest on the Door side. Actually this system works very very well for a solar kiln. With the heat exchanger, you can keep it running all winter long and still get wood to dry in a timely manner.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. !👍🤠

    Very nice .
How often do you have to clean the chimney? Probably have to change out the heat exchanger once in a while ? Thanks. Hope you don’t mind all the questions 😊

I give it a quick clean every rotation but have not needed to replace exchanger

It just seems weird to me to use just the smoke stack for heat, when 80%+ of the heat is coming off that barrel.

You are losing 80% of the heat off the barrel just using it to warm the inner chamber which keeps the room hotter and dryer than without it. I also get rid of all my waist Wood so it’s a win-win for me. 👍🤠
