“We’re probably gonna cut that part out” hahaha I’ve heard that before! 😅
How will the drying of the wood over time affect your building? It sounds like it's not kiln dried. I would like to do a project like this but wonder if wood needs time to dry or kiln to dry it in.
No sir you use Green Timbers to Timber Frame. As if dries it tightens up all together. Thank you ! 👍
Just milled 11 hickory logs for a new client on Monday. I envy your set up down there. I can only see one router in your T&G process!
No Woodmaster has 2 planers. One is on the bottom. In the Live we did cutting the hardwood flooring shows the second one better. Thanks for watching.
I was planing some beech that came out of the kiln today. It had a little bit of both ambrosia beetle and powderpost beetle damage. The ambrosia beetle is a farmer living off of the black fungus it carries into the tunnels it excavates. The wood has to be wet enough to grow that food or the beetle starves. So black holes are safe when the wood is dry, Elvis has left the building. "White" holes, holes that have no off color, are the lyctid powderpost beetle. That's the one that can slowly eat you out of house and home and is still happy just slower at indoor wintertime wood dryness. Either a weak tree already has the beetle in it while living, where it leaves the nice color trails like in ambrosia maple, or the few in my beech, or its called Columbian Timber beetle when you see it in poplar. I'm pretty sure when it is just black tunnels with no trails in the wood above and below, the tree was dead. There was no flow up and down to make that flag. That's what your ambrosia holes look like to me, and I think you said the logs were cut and sat. I bet there were trails of bug frass on/in the pile when you sawed them? That's where I think that wood got the ambrosia beetle. The true powderpost in my beech happened in my barn loft when the wood was stacked up there at lower moisture. Which still ends in, then crank the kiln just to be sure :). Love your setup, I'm using a planer and 2 routers under a 6' plywood table. 3 operations you are doing in one pass.
Thank you very much. These were Ambrosia post Beatles. The beetle wood I also ran in a vacume kiln so I am sure they are dead. Normally I dry all our own stock. Three cuts in one pass makes a difference. Good Luck with your project.
Hey I see you got the blade in your logo spinning the right way! Hehe glad you guys are doing well.
Glad to see you FoCoPuffs! Was a speed control thing my man to fast it looks like reverse so easy fix! Glad you checked in but we put some time into your find! Thank you
Can you use the hickory sawdust for smoking meat?
I bet you can. Could take the shavings and put in tin foil and put in coals. Make some flooring and some BBQ! 👍
I can only dream of doing a timber frame… but there is no way I could ever afford the tools to lay it out lol
All good my Friend. Tools don’t come cheap.
No sir they sure don’t I have the woodland mills HM122 so that a start lol one piece at a time kinda like Johnny cash Cadillac lol
@@elmerkruse83 you got more then half of it I cut all my stuff on my woodland mills.
Are you using a router to put the tongue and groove into the ends of the flooring?
The Routers hold and cut the Tongue and Groove
Beautiful job. Hickory is gorgeous, but you better have some good quality machines if you're gonna be feeding them a steady diet of that stuff! Nice work!
We are always on Product Testing Tony! We will keep feeding her.
Impressive and respectable to make T&G boards. It sure is a lot of work to setup the moulder with two router bits. I currently just plane boards flat and install them with a butt joint, but I'm going to try hand routing the edges T&G because the T&G is a good vapor barrier and structural detail to link the boards. I install wood with screws through the face, so it's all structural and good as long as you can tolerate the little gap between the boards. One note, I recommend rift and quart sawing lumber, it will install much easier than the wide 8" plain sawn wood, but again, impressive and good job by y'all!
Rift or Quatersawn is always best. Get the T and G bit that has a round tongue much easier to install. The Tongue holds the boards together better then just butting adding strength to your floor. Thanks for watching we really appreciate it!👍
@@TwoGuysTimberframing I appreciate the knowledgable tip on the curved tongue!
@@clarkpiper6007 👍👊
So cool!
Thank you my Man. We think so too!
That is a lot of hickory!
Couple logs Buddy!
Absolutely amazing work guys! That is something to be proud of, producing beautiful flooring from a tree that was standing where you’re building. TGTF cool tools episode. I love the custom subscribe reminder. Did you do that yourself? Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, have great one.
Thank you my Man! We do a lot of this kind of stuff! J made the custom subscribe reminder. See you on the next one!
Could you tell me more about the router setup you have on the back of your thicknesser. That could save me so much time.
It is an add on to the wood master planer set up. So check out Woodmaster725 router assembly. Maybe it can be retrofitted for others great unit.
Love the new intro! So cool! Planning on hickory flooring in my place too. First logs I milled with my mill. It’s been stickered and drying for two years. Man, you’ve got some great toys! Love your mind on how you remove any opportunities to waste time. Great work guys!
Time is Money buddy and I am running out of time. Efficiency is the key to success! Your wood should be ready anytime. We will help you make it!
I love the new intro! A little SRV influence there. Hickory is, by far, the prettiest flooring. I'm curious to see how the tooling holds up to the hickory.
It is my man by far. The more I work with it the more I like it. But dry. It’s hard. A little more blow out on making flooring. But the tooling all looks good for at least 4 more rounds. We cut 1500 sq ft. It’s a lot of boards. We will get you some. !
@TwoGuysTimberframing lol. I'm going to mill the hick-ree off the farm and bring it down. How thick do i mill it with the HM130MAX? Is there a preferred width?
It is just that easy!
It is Buddy. You need some! I got you! 👍
Since you’re in Tennessee now you pronounce it hick-ree. lol. Good video brother.
That’s Funny as All get out Buddy! The deep locals you can’t understand at all. I’ll work on it. Thank you
Dudez got skillz! Love it!
Alright!
We are building a house in Arkansas soon we are home builders and subcontractors your video is very encouraging to our dream
That is Awesome my Friend. The fact you are a home builder I am sure you will realize your dream. Thank you for watching. 👍👊
Gotta build myself a kiln soon…
It’s an important piece to building your Homestead! 👍
“If you think timber screws are stronger than pegs… You might wanna check that out”……most polite way on the entire internet of saying “you’re an idiot” 🤣 hahaha I love it!
I am glad someone was listening 😂 just saying. Excited to watch your new Rafters Vid. We are traveling through Rocky’s going to Utah. First signal I get👍
I can’t believe what you’re doing. I agree with your inspector. You’re crazy but it’s coming together.

Way to go guys, very nice. How many yards of concrete will you be pouring?
We poured a total of 80 yards on this pad
Excellent work guys 👍👍
Thank you buddy! 💪
❤wow...how many yards?

Who don’t need a Doug? He comes through when you need him👍👊
Wow I never realized that you could do that. Thankyou.
Thank you! Now you can too! 👍
great to see your t&g process. how do you end-match your t&g flooring? sorry to miss the live streaming. catch you next time.
Thank you Rocco, no issue buddy. I do not joint the end match I glue them in when installing. See you next time !
I can hear ya
Thank you Chuck
Morning guys
Morning Chuck! Trying to figure this process out I am glad you were with us.
Can see and hear you
Thank you Paul! We will fail this down
Love what your doing here. This will be a huge time saver for my next build. Only suggestion I have that might save you some time is perhaps a router would expedite your initial Pocket starting place for your blade. Subscribed!
Thank you! That’s a great idea. See ya around👍
Nice
👍👊
You guys do a hell of a good job!
Darn right Dougie!
Love it!
