I lived in Juniper Wood Ranch for 18 months in 2004-2006. Totally off the grid in a abandoned travel trailer from the 1950's. I have lots of good memories from that time.
@@jackofalltrades12 I was working 12 hours shifts in Prescott and commuting 2 hours a day was killing me (literally, fell asleep driving dozens of times). I sensed the real estate market was going to crash so I sold just before it did. I had 20 acres on a paved road with power lines next door. I paid $20k and sold it for $60k 18 months later. I miss it but I recently bought 12 acres in Cochise County, Arizona where you can "opt out" of building codes.
I used to live in Ash Fork AZ, this town is crime infested. The powers that be in this town don't want to do anything to clean up the town. This town looks exactly as it did in 1990 with the exception of a couple of buildings. I lived there when Universal Soldier 2 was filmed. There aren't any cops for miles, so you are on your own. The nearest police or ambulance is 20 miles. That's why the hotel is still 29.99 per night. More than likely, you won't have a car when you wake up. Stay at your own risk.
lol...very interesting. That's kind of the vibe that I got. It looks like a town that would be perfect for manufacturing many types of drugs. That's a shame, but thanks for the insight. I will make sure not to stay in that hotel.
Did I read Ash Fork got devastated by a second major fire in the late 1970s? If people commenting here claim you're not safe here, are you more safe in Williams or Seligman?
If you have the information on the 1970's fire, please send it. I would like to read it. Williams does look like a more established and safer town but Seligman is Similar to Ash Fork.
@@jackofalltrades12 According to Wikipedia, two major fires ravaged the town in 1977 and in 1987. Other than that, I don't know much more since I live in Michigan, and my interest in Route 66 got me to know that.

It's always been difficult to obtain financing for land. I purchased mine through owner finance. It's better than bank financing for both parties (buyer and seller).
For any of you out in Ash Fork, I'm looking for someone that can cut in a road in this area. Please let me know if you or someone you know can do that type of work. Thanks.
@Lori Wright we got a refund on our purchase, the agent lied to us and said they were Coubty maintained roads, it took our Rubicon jeep to reach the properties, make sure you can actually get to a property before buying in this area.
I have land there. I like the land and the area. People that I have spoken to that used to live there don't have anything positive to say about the area.

I've raised my 3 children out here all 3 graduated from Ash Fork school, and this is my home. I moved here from chino valley.

Why did you move out? I often think about moving there. Yesterday I went there and talked to few of the locals and they seem to really like it there.

@Russell Mooneyham oh, okay. One of those towns that I pass on my way...it looks like a peaceful place to live in.
@@jackofalltrades12GENERALLY speaking, it is. But like any small town, we have our moments. Lol. Thanks for the mention and responses, by the way!!
Very cool!
Did you dig well in your property? If so, how much did cost and how deep?
No, I know that south of the I-40 people do have a well but not here. Most people haul in water but I plan on setting up a rain catchment system.
@@jackofalltrades12 I’m just curious since I’m looking for land out that way. Wanted to know how deep the wells are.
