Call of Duty: WWII focuses on the actions of a 12-man squad of the American 1st Infantry Division from 1944 to 1945 in the European theater of conflict, at a time when the Allied forces were starting to gather strength on their march into Germany. The campaign will cover fighting in occupied France and Belgium, and across the Rhine river valley into the heart of Germany. Some of the iconic historical battles covered in the campaign are the Invasion of Normandy (D-Day), Liberation of Paris, Battle of Aachen, Battle of Hürtgen Forest and Battle of the Bulge.
As always we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoy!

They actually brought back the good cod, a few nostalgic moments from cod 3 like the CQC quick time events and the jeep rides, didn't remove swastikas like everyone expected them to, brought back the gore of shredded limbs, and had a well done story overall. The only negative thing I really can say is the very slow fire rate of the PPSH's and MG42's because they are well known for their insanely fast rate of fire, they should've kept the fire rates like WaW. Campaign is truly a 9/10.

It reminds me of my Call of Duty WW2 and Saving private Ryan nightmares combined together. I loved how me, Daniels and Ryan finally get along and Normandy gets saved because of that. All 3 of us remained together until the end of the war, it doesn’t take long for Ryan and Daniels to restart their fighting and I left Daniels because of it; I love how Ryan looks at Daniels thinking “I’ve won” and I’m glad Daniels regrets it all

I feel like everybody credits the American on Omaha and Utah beach, but nobody credits the English and the Canadian on Juno, Swords and Gold beach.
yeah especially when Davis goes on about that crap in WW1 about being the first to hold off an attack etc. etc. but the U.S didn't enter until 1917 and Britain, Canada and France did all the work (especially Canada's victory at Vimmy Ridge)
i do agree.
you should play CoD3 then. polish, brits, canadian campaign in 1 game.
As an American, I agree.
austin platt Davis wasn't saying that the US was the first to do that crap. He was saying that the 1st US Infantry Division was the first US Army division to do a lot of shit and that's they were picked instead another division. Especially considering that a lot of US troops at this point were replacements while the 1st is battle-hardened.
I love the campaigns from the call of duty games
Same.
Me too.
Vanguard and MW3 (2023) say hi
We must understand ''Call of duty World War Two'' isn't just a game but history, it's supposed to remind for us what happened many years ago, d-day and hill 493. I don't care if game is short, it's supposed to show truth for us and how heroes fighted for freedom. Respect.
with something that really look like revisionism about the liberation of Paris... history my ass...
Hill 493 was traumatising as hell but still one of my favourite missions in the entire game

Weekend Warrior damn right
Hands down the most underrated COD ever. WW2 is never meant to be a fun and casual nor be realistic and historically accurate. It's more on the narrative side, to portray the horrors of war.
Agreed BUT I can tell you as someone who lives in Aachen, has been to that exact theatre and around the renamed hotel and has lived in Hürtgenwald for 20 years growing up, a few of the shots & scenes are eerily accurate. Had to pause many times during the missions to check up on some details like architecture/maps. Chills.

I actually loved Infinite Warfare... really, it's sci-fi, what does everyone have against sci-fi all of a sudden? And one certainly can't complain about the story of it, it was probably the first videogame story that actually made me think.
Pedro Carnitas finally CoD got great story again
Sam Johnson Wait, what? Didn't it have a great story in Infinite Warfare? I mean, come on. It had way more character development than you could possibly hope for in a first-person shooter. The pacing was good, mixing up emotional conversations with epic battles. It gave the side characters just enough development to make me be _really_ sad when they died. But really, the best thing was the main character's arc. What videogame protagonist has an arc nowadays? Also, the final mission and his last choice brought that arc to a really satisfying close. The ending built on the theme of the whole story, unlike most games and even unlike a lot of movies.
Are you sure the only reason you didn't like Infinite Warfare was because you were used to a Modern Warfare setting and were upset once it got sci-fi? Because I for one found barely any flaw with the story of Infinite Warfare, except maybe killing the bad guy way too early.
Pedro Carnitas agreed

Well I'm not a big COD fan to begin with to be honest, I'm more Halo/Titanfall player... but when I saw that COD was getting like Halo I was like... meeeeeh

Not only that but normandy is infinitely more marketable than those other settings
How’d Germans have PPSHs in Normandy?
Mkay
Captured 9mm converted PPSHs were actually a thing during the Normandy invasion
Contrary to popular belief, the Wehrmacht was not the ideal fighting force that was always equipped with the latest German uber weaponry. The Germans had severe logistic problems throughout the war that forced them to use whatever equipment they could get their hands on. At the onset of operation Barbarossa, out of 161 infantry divisions, 84 used captured vehicles (ua-cam.com/video/K5Cgy6oiVY4/v-deo.html). There were also a number of units that had fought in the east stationed in Normandy at the time of the invasion (such as the infamous 2nd SS Das Reich) which would have likely used captured weapons, as well as units composed of captured and volunteer Russian soldiers.
At Normandy Battle Museum at Bayeux, there is a display of the various weapons used by the Axis soldiers. These include Russian Mosin Nagants, PPSHs, lots of french small arms, and even a japanese Arisaka. The PPSH was revered by German soldiers, and as mentioned by @MCCDirtyDan, the Germans even set up the industrial capital to convert these to 9mm parabellum.
There are troops drawn from the Eastern Theatre that was at the defense on Normandy.
The bombing campaign was doing a number on German industry and infrastructure. A ton of captured equipment were used during the war. Rifles, machine guns, boots, even uniforms (especially in stalingrad and eastern front.) Heavy guns and Tanks were also captured and used in operations, just needed a new paint job and a swastika.
It’s what happens when you overestimate your production status and make weapons that take years to produce because they aren’t made off a mass production line standard like the American weapons were.
Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty:WWII had nice campaigns.
French woman and German man get into a room and they speak English?
Cam Scott Actually they were speaking german and then that man said “let’s practice our English” or something like that.
Lmao lame af
Jonatas Araujo that s cop out
Cam Scott
Probably because they didn't understand each other so they spoke English since it was an international language
Ironmike 2022 They both conversated in German prior to it so no.
Well damn I was afraid Zussman was dead, unlike the past few stories this one is hella a competitor to Battlefield 1, but this one almost brought a tear to my eye. Know thinking about what is was like for my grandpa in one of those POW camps. (He was a Soviet) They did this campaign real fucking well.
I was so freaking relieved when I found Zussman alive; then i said “Take this Nazis!” before shooting them aggressively
The game looks good, but even 15 minutes in I noticed a few historical inaccuracies. For one, they nailed the idea of how they had to jump over the sides of the landing craft. However, I fail to understand why he had a PPSH on the west front. Another aspect is how they sea wall looked. In this, it looked like crude wall. But in reality, it was just sand and Barbed wire, but a whole lot of it.
Captured 9mm converted PPSHs were actually present in Normandy during the invasion
Nater Gator
Ost truppen used PPsH, since most of them were Russian and were familiar with the gun
Contrary to popular belief, the Wehrmacht was not the ideal fighting force that was always equipped with the latest German uber weaponry. The Germans had severe logistic problems throughout the war that forced them to use whatever equipment they could get their hands on. Nater Gator or the tiny V2s on the train
People have already pointed out most of it with the PPSH, but the Atlantic Wall varied from area to area greatly, so calling it just barbed wire is a bit disingenous. There were tank traps, a variety of different mines, wooden posts built to flip landing craft, and tons of other defenses. Here's a good pic of just Normandy, some areas were built up much more heavily. academic.mu.edu/meissnerd/imagetne.jpg
Sucks that we couldnt olay as the Soviets during their campaign or the North African Front but for once the French Resistance gets some love in the CoD storylines and the Rhine River hasn't been seen since.... Finest Hour when you think of it

Tundra Vort3x ye, like, this shit kids who say this is a rerun of saving private ryan, ffs, just bcs its omaha beach, fuck off, this thing boarded nazi concentration camps, pow camps, the rapings and cruelty to civilians in france, how dying was easier than portrait in movies. Fucking french resistence was featured in 1 mission of a dlc of cod2. I also want more russian campaign, at least more emersive like the bulge segment on this one, rly felt like crazy ass true, also more african and asian, also as the germans, as i saw in a comment earlier, to have both faces of the war and many many other fronts that could be explored. Such an underrated call of duty game
Loved the way that sledgehammer did with this cod, the campaign was awesome with character development with the player but the ending was just rushed. It just didn't work with WW2. There was a point were I thought that we would be introduced to a main antagonist that we would kill to save zussman. It would of made the ending to the campaign a whole bunch more satisfying but still this was an amazing game.
I think the fact that we never really meet a large antagonist makes it better because the big bads were those leading the war, not necessarily those fighting it. I think a direct antagonist would’ve desaturated the game by making it less real.
It’s honestly kind of interesting some of the scenes either LOOK or ARE real life shots, and the voice actors look like the characters.
and aussie soldiers were the first to break the Hindenburg line

Everyone here is bitching about historical inaccuracies, but nobody cares about the biggest inaccuracy, the fact that your character has murdered thousands without dying by the end of his deployment. It’s a video game, it’s not real, so don’t bitch about accuracy in something not real.

After playing multiplayer games and spending hours upon hours on them every day I've come to a realization as I've gotten older and more mature as a gamer that playing multiplayer, although fun, doesn't have a sense of accomplishment and really won't get you anywhere. Multiplayer is a never ending cycle of match after match of killing and dying. Don't get me wrong, I still like multiplayer and even play them from time to time. But as I've gotten older and work and other responsibilities have entered my life I can no longer spend hours on hours on a game that doesn't give me anything back besides a kill death ratio or games won and lost or any other myriad of other things on your stat screen. So now I play games for their story, their campaign. Something I can take away and remember and linger in my thoughts for months or even years. I only play Call of duty now for their campaigns. I dabble in the multiplayer from time to time but that is not what I'm reviewing since that is not what I value the most. This has got to be one of the best cod campaigns ever. The story, although could have been directed better, it's core was really well written. The story hits home for me and I appreciate stories of heroism and valor. Heroes who sacrifice themselves for the betterment of others. Graphically, this game looks great. Captures the atmosphere, the grit and grime of the violence of the most deadliest conflict in human history. The resolution could be higher and the HDR could be better but all in all it looks phenomenal. Especially considering that it runs at 60 or a very close 60 is remarkable. This is one of my favorite COD campaigns ever. One of my top 3 for sure.
it looks like muuuh evil natzes never gets old uh ?

The weapon, yes. The fact the Americans used it on D-Day is a strong no. So no, it's not accurate.
It's a video game, not a WWII simulator. It's not "accurate" to have a single American soldier kill hundreds of Germans, yet you latch onto the idea of a GI picking up a PPSH (which were actually quite common within the German armed forces) and using it in the heat of combat as your chief complaint?
@William exactly what im saying! Stop complaining, Be grateful, and remember! this is a game!
I really am Proud of Sledgehammer and activision ( may have butchered there name Lol ) for this game! They really out did themselves! Thanks Sledgehammer!
2:10:16 Damn Daniel giving up the opportunity to go home but stay to save your friend instead, your a good man Daniels
Exactly what I’d do because I care about those who died in the war so much and I’d do anything to bring them back or get my justice for them. Why did they have to go like this
*rant* Ugh, hate how much they hyped historical accuracy. Even if the game is awesome, it's still full of inaccuracies. *rant* Anyways, thanks for posting this.
Evan Holmstrom .....its a video game ._.
You are right though, there are inaccurate moments
Poor Sgt. Bayless 11:07
Sacrificed himself to save the main character and did not even know that he has plot armour.
Stukas don’t attack like that
Cam Scott yes they do. Just not often
RedAlertSteve _ Well you both are right. But what you have to remember is. There was virtually no air resistance on Normandy. Most of the Stukas were committed with the Russians. Let alone to commit them to Normandy. That all goes back to there really was virtually no Air resistance on Normandy. Or the 2-3 days following. The Stukas usually would dive and release the bombs. Using their propeller driven sirens. Sure they'd be use to strafe as CAS support. But most of the time it was dive, turn, and burn. Pulling over 6g's every time.
It's just a game u dimwit
I dont have a PS4 XBOXONE or a PC powerful enough to play this game, so thanks for making a movie out of it.
Time to upgrade
Seeing as how very few people if anybody will bring this up I might as well. The whole subplot about Zussmann and the whole Jewish-American prisoner scene by the train where they had to hide their dog tags would never happen for 3 reasons. Firstly, as American prisoners of war they were protected under the Geneva Convention. Secondly, as a counter to anyone who says "why wouldn't they just do it anyway" not only were the Swiss smarter than most people give them credit for but they had eyes and ears all over the place. Thirdly, all throughout and especially during the last year of the war the Germans became increasingly aware of what the Swiss were calling a "War Crimes Commission" meant to punish all who broke the codes that had been laid out. Meaning that anyone who did fucked up shit like this and survived the war would almost certainly be facing life in prison or a death sentence AND would know about it. No sane German soldier would risk his future after an allied victory to get a few extra workers for a concentration camp.
Hey mate, the Geneva Convention which was ratified in 1949 details and explains the treatment of wartime prisoners- It did not exist during the war, it was created in response to the aftermath of the war.
In my own defense I meant to say Protocol but I do understand where you are coming fro so I will correct my mistake right now. And to quote a Wikipedia article because it will start at least what I hope is a cordial discussion
"The United Nations War Crimes Commission, initially called the United Nations Commission for the Investigation of War Crimes, was a commission of the United Nations that investigated allegations of war crimes committed by Nazi Germany and the other Axis powers in World War II.
The Commission began its work at the behest of the British government and the other Allied nations in 1943, prior to the formal establishment of the United Nations itself, in October, 1945. The announcement of the establishment of the Commission was made by the Lord Chancellor John Simon in the House of Lords on October 7, 1942"
And also great cinematics for both games. This is probably the best josh duhamel acting I have seen so far
PPSH....in fuking Normandy? I thought the bullshit will spawn attest after 4 to 5 missions
Captured 9mm converted PPSHs were present in Normandy
You're doing the lord's work William
MCCDirtyDan ive seen u reply the same thing to so many comments😂
i can always count on you GLPG for great game movies/ cutscence plus this is my favourite COD behind MW3.
Within the first fifteen minutes there is half as many historical inaccuracies... so disappointed in what Call of Duty has become.
I thought we were going to get a more realistic Call of Duty, at 25 minutes in I realized all we were getting was boots on the ground and historical inaccuracy after historical inaccuracy.
I guess they just decided to say forget the facts let’s play make believe World War 2... this game is an injustice to the veterans of World War 2.
Wyatt Cole you don’t even explain what the inaccuracies are. And if it’s the ppsh then that not inaccurate. Ppsh conversions were common in WW2
RedAlertSteve _ M4 Sherman On the beach and a M3 Halftrack on the beach before the first division had landed, the PPSH, SVT 40, for that matter any Russian weapon that a German soldier would have considered inferior and thus would not carry not to mention would not have the proper ammo, Stuka five bombers that both are not five bombing and are not using their signature dive Stuka sirens, A Colt .45 which shots I stopped bothering to count after seven (and it’s not just the Colt that has that problem), an unfaithful depiction of the treatment of US prisoners of war by the Nazi’s which was not in accordance with the Geneva convention, an inaccurate and clearly censored depiction of the holocaust, MP 18/28’s being used by German Soldiers in 1944... honestly the list goes on and on, it is abhorrent that this is what they consider realistic, and don’t even get me started on the fact that there is that there is an African American Man serving on the front lines with the first division, which at that point only the Red Tails of the US Army Air Corps were serving front lines as an African American unit, it’s honestly like they didn’t even bother to have a World War 2 historian even they literally showed him in the trailers, if you want a faithful depiction of World War 2 Play the first 3 Call of Duty Games and then World at War, and then call it a day because Call Of Duty absolutely refuses to come back to its roots now.
You do know that soviet weapons where used in Normandy but convertet to use German ammo types (there were units from the eastern front like 352. Infanterie and they used weapons like the PPSH-41 using 9mm)
There were different types of stukas some had dual auto-cannons the JU 87 G-1 was one. ( play steel division normandy 44 and see for yourself)
That opening intro still gives me chills 6 years later
Anyone else pissed about Russian guns on the Western front?
No because it’s just a fucking game
SwissWolfALPHA you need to have no life to be pissed about a game
It's history accurate since some Germans carried ppsh to westren front or that is the 9mm one
Would it unalive them to make a Call of Duty game that focuses on fronts that never get any attention. You got Croatia, Romania, Italy, Finland, even one set during the Korean War would be a great change of pace.
Income "omg where's the soviets? Omg why is that gun in there? Omg this isn't some SJW futuristic game horrible dialogues and no cool guns or jumps". Kids who complain about this game are those who enjoy the dabbing option in infinite warfare because this is true cod no nae nae shit.
Mighty Cousintube nah this is unrealistic bs
I'm sick of the war in France.... I wanted a Africa campaign, a Russian campaign, a island hopping campaign, a Italy campaign, a Southeast Asia campaign, hell even a Dunkirk campaign. What we got was saving Private Ryan turned into a video game
Sheperd D I wanted a Nazi campaign.
Mighty Cousintube don’t worry still SJW trash with black females. Not even BF1 did something like that
Mighty Cousintube Jesus, what are you a hipster, Mr. "Now this is how I like me shooty shooty bang bang vidya germs"? People can like what they like, even it isn't the "OG real cod of war experience".
