I wanted one more top grade rim brake bike, so I ordered a V3Rs in October, 2021, frame size 58s. After 15 months, Colnago had not built the frame. My LBS found a C64 rim brake frame in Colnago’s US warehouse, size 60s. So 11 years after Campagnolo introduced EPS, I have version 4 of EPS on my C64. I have three other rim brake bikes with Record 12-speed. I’ve been riding the new bike since February 3, and have about 3000km so far. I have done one charge at just over 1000km. With close to 2000km since that charge, I have 40% battery charge remaining. Funny - at €5200 this is exactly twice my budget. In short: very nice but I can’t afford it. Plus not a fan of the shifter design. I guess for now the Ekar groupset remains top of the range
I have the Campy Super Record EPS and no wires are visible. And I love the thumb shifter, always have. There is thus no reason to move from EPS to wireless group. Quite the contrary.
I have been using Chorus 10SP since 2007. If I would have to make a decision today I would go Chorus 12SP Disc. No reason to pay for new technology especially in loosing iconic thumb button. As for the wheels In 2018 I replaced my Eurus for Bora Ultra 35mm. Very pricy decision for poor increase performance. Today I would go Shamal Disc. Of course if you want to show of your wallet capacity you buy high end products, but expect to bee laugh at in terms of performance capacity. Show off as a price to pay........ In the bicycle words, you always be better off by keeping your money in the wallet versus loosing wait. Had they used a 13-speed cassette like on Ekar, at least then Campy would've had one marketable reason to buy this group... i.e., the first 13 speed road group of the big brands. However, I saw nothing other than the nostalgic Campy name that made me think anyone would choose this group set over Shimano or SRAM.

Well done guys and gals at BikeRadar! 🙂
Just built a new bike with Chorus 12 disc. In the end I regret not going Ekar 1X like my gravel. I’m fortunately comfortable but still can’t see spending 5k on a groupset.
It looks like they removed the thumb shifter, then added two thumb shifters to each lever. The derailleurs look clunky, the chainset less premium than previous iterations and the discs look tacky and cheap. For a 5 grand groupset Campagnolo should have taken their design inspiration from the Corsa Record groupsets of the early 90's and come up with slick modern lightweight carbon versions of the same. Maybe then 5 Grand would begin to make sense.
It's sort of ridiculous that the derailleurs don't use the same battery (SRAM holds the patent for that), but it looks like Campy's front derailleur won't have the same clearance issues that AXS front derailleurs have. On gravel bikes, certain tire sizes will actually contact the SRAM battery.
Hard times coming? They've been loosing market share for a generation. My local bike shop won't even work on Campy because it's not even worth their time keeping up with. Campy could be a nice buy for a major company looking to get into the bike market but no one should pay to have this on their bikes.
@@VirgilOvid Back in October 2013, I was one of eight Campagnolo enthusiasts from around the world who were the guests of Campagnolo for their 80th Anniversary. The company makes its high margin profits by manufacturing high-tech components for the aerospace industry. Airbus, Eurofighter, and Arienne. Unlike 95% of the commentators here, I can comfortably afford to buy this high priced stuff. I have a Pinarello Grevel with 13 x 1 EKAR Campagnolo and Vittoria tubeless 650 x 47 which handles like a A-4 Skyhawk. I am an old guy who used to be a U.S. Navy Officer and a Naval Aviator and I have pulled 8 1/2 G's in the Skyhawk. I just returned from Lake Garda in the foothills of the Italian Alps riding the latest Pinarello Dogma with Dura Ace Di2 as a rental bike for seven days. I hate the little electronic buttons on the shifters. The Dogma had 50/34 and 11/34, so a one to one climbing gear which was necessary for 12% inclines. I have already paid in full, and am having built to my exact spec, the latest Pinarello Dogma with this new Super Record wireless group. I miss the thumb shifter, but that"s "progress." My "Speedster Silver" bike will have 50/34 and 11/27 gearing and Campagnolo Shamal carbon wheels with the new tubeless Vittoria Corsa N-EXT 700 x 28 tyres. I have been riding Campagnolo since the Spring of 1985 when I was posted to the Supreme military HQ of NATO (SHAPE in Mons, Belgium) for three and a half years. A bit of a change from catapult shots and arrested landings off the Aircraft Carrier which I had been doing for the previous three years. I bought a steel frame and fork Eddy Merckx and had it built up with Nuovo Record and Campagnolo wheels with Vittoria sew-ups. And, yes, I have ridden with Eddy on a couple of occasions. I love the handling of the Dogma, and bluetooth is great progress from the previous EPS wires. Everyone has their own opinion: A lot of whining kids who could never afford a Grevel were disparaging its looks and price. Now, people who will never earn enough in their lifetimes to become financially independent and be able to actually buy this expensive stuff, whine about the appearance and cost of the Super Record wireless. Its like actually buying a Ferrari for cash; if you can do it, good for you! It you don't have a third of a million or more in the bank, just be an appreciative spectator, and don't criticize the shade of red chosen by the paying customer.
Dude $4,000 for a groupset, this is crazy. Yeah it's cool not to have any wires but it's not $4,000+ cool. If they kept making 10 speed Record with decreasing prices over time I'd keep buying it for decades.
They should call it SRAMpagnolo, except that the front and rear batteries aren't interchangeable, and there is no integrated power meter. It is surprising that Campagnolo chose to keep with twelve cogs and not make the jump to thirteen. I have to admit I am a fan of the SRAM system. I expect within the next few years Shimano will put individual batteries on the derailleurs to complete their own transition to SRAMano.
With only one pro tour team left still using Campy, and rumours they'll be moving over to Decathlon next year, it's not looking good for Campy. Respect to them for their innovations, but this groupset is too little too late. You can only play catch up for so long until you just can't keep up.
Small front chainrings are dumb. Don't get me wrong, they have its place. However, for efficiency and smooth shifting at high speeds (when you need tight gear ratios the most) they suck. No wonder pros hate small front chainrigs. This is another groupset for dentists.
I'm an amateur rider and my 52/36 is honestly the best. My bike shipped with 11s 11-28 and I replaced it for a 11-25 because the 52/36 is already a great all around set. I put a 50/34 pair on my commutor bike because the 44/34/24 was a pretty terrible combination. I can't even keep up with Cat4 riders and I ride these gears. I think the pros are riding what manufacturers WANT them to. Because otherwise why are the fastest riders in the world using compact gears and wide range cassettes? For decades, 11-23 or 11-25 was the standard along with 53/39 or even larger rings
Pros use big chainrings literally because they ride fast, simple as that. On my 53-11 I am getting spun out just under 70km/h, Pros pedal down a descent or sprint faster than that.
What has happened to tradition??? Give me an option for brakes. I guess now the only option is to go and buy as many rim brake sets as I can to keep my frames happy in the future. Thumb shifters???? Thanks for chasing away lifelong customers.
Dude, speak your mind truthfully. This copy of SRAM can not be what we have been waiting for. It looks 10 years dated and no bells or whistles. Super nonsense is what it is, while you are at it, perhaps you can justify the ridiculous price. Ok, I get it, it's a prototype 😂😂😂
Going wireless - very okay. Derailleur batteries not being interchangeable between front and rear - very un-okay. No interchangeability with previous 12-gear gruppos - most un-okay.
This is nail to the coffin for once....thumb shifts is gone which is unacceptable. They don't need wireless,it will be best they could go semi wireless system keeping the main features thumb shifts alive. Now they are just losing more regular customers away to elsewhere.
@@yonglingng5640 Who are "people"? I have small hands and for me it's an essential feature. Reach adjustment alone doesn't cut it. I will never buy another groupset without brake point adjustment if I can help it.

And then funky cassette cog combos. A new app (should just fix the old app and make it better). And apparently the total system is heavier. So what is the point here. This seems very disappointing
The aesthetics are certainly...interesting
😲😲😲😲😲THE PRICE IS RIDICULOUS!😲😲😲😲😲
Funny - at €5200 this is exactly twice my budget.
In short: very nice but I can’t afford it.
Plus not a fan of the shifter design.
I guess for now the Ekar groupset remains top of the range
It's twice what I'd probably would spend on a new bike😅

Would love to get a new bike and the Campy wireless but will wait to get the bugs out.
Welcome to 2023 glad to see you here campagnolo….but the price is just stupid
Even if this was priced the same as Chinese electronic groupsets, I wouldn't chose it. It's hideous.
@@inthefieldunderthesky capital punishment?
I have the Campy Super Record EPS and no wires are visible. And I love the thumb shifter, always have. There is thus no reason to move from EPS to wireless group. Quite the contrary.
Campagnolo Super Record 12v Wireless 🔝🔝🔝🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
As an example losing 10 pounds on the body versus spending 10,000$ more on the bike will be giving more performance, more pleasure and more proudness…. Have a great ride.
For god's sake why remove the thumb shifter
For god’s sake, why buy Campagnolo in 2023 ?
Cause the thumb shifter was awful. Almost unusable in the 2 main riding positions (in the drops and aero hoods) since it required a thumb/wrist contortion to use.
I’m a huge fan of italian’s bikes but even i found beautiful the design over Shimano or Sram but the thumb shifter makes me stop to buy a campy system, i’m going to buy the new De Rosa Merak with Campy Rims, saddle Selle Italia, but sincerily i was consider tu put on this bike Sram Red AXS simply cause i don’t find practicaly the thumb shifter, now with this new group practicaly the bike it’s gonna be all Italian except for the pedals (look) and the handlebar (FSA)
@@galenkehler Different hands probably. In my case the thumb shifter felt more comfortable and easier to use than Shimano. 3 years with previous get EPS. But I do not like the new groupset. It may as well burry Campag.
Dropping the thumb-shifter is dropping their identity. Arrivederci, Campagnolo!
That rear derailleur. Yikes! Hope it looks better in person.
What quick does the chain use please?
Had they used a 13-speed cassette like on Ekar, at least then Campy would've had one marketable reason to buy this group... i.e., the first 13 speed road group of the big brands. However, I saw nothing other than the nostalgic Campy name that made me think anyone would choose this group set over Shimano or SRAM.
Loving the new presenters on this channel. Both mtb and road content were missing a good set of charismatic personalities since Joe left and Luke seemed to be the only charismatic and photogenic staff member carrying the video content (even though the other guys still put out good articles on the website) Loving the new mtb content and the road stuff is completely bearable to watch now and I normally find road stuff suuuuper dull. Well done guys and gals at BikeRadar! 🙂
Thanks for the kind words!
Unbelievably ugly derailleurs, especially the front!
Just built a new bike with Chorus 12 disc. In the end I regret not going Ekar 1X like my gravel. I’m fortunately comfortable but still can’t see spending 5k on a groupset.
For me, it’s disappointing that the thumb shift has gone.. I love their brakes, but the price 😳
Seems like a downgrade compared to the previous gen … from a campy eps user
It looks like they removed the thumb shifter, then added two thumb shifters to each lever. The derailleurs look clunky, the chainset less premium than previous iterations and the discs look tacky and cheap. For a 5 grand groupset Campagnolo should have taken their design inspiration from the Corsa Record groupsets of the early 90's and come up with slick modern lightweight carbon versions of the same. Maybe then 5 Grand would begin to make sense.
I have been a 30 year advocate of Campy, but I really don't like the look of the new groupset, and the price..wow!
Austin Allegro of groupsets. Also designed by an Italian 😮
Oscar deserves an Oscar, the invisible cycling actor. Huckle . . . chuckle!
Possibly hard times coming for Campag…. What do they have for any decent volume? Ekar group set and the Bora WTO wheel set and that’s about it. 😢
Hard times coming? They've been loosing market share for a generation. My local bike shop won't even work on Campy because it's not even worth their time keeping up with. Campy could be a nice buy for a major company looking to get into the bike market but no one should pay to have this on their bikes.
@@VirgilOvid yeah, quite true. A bit sad…
It's what happens if Shimano and SRAM had an Italian baby.
Sram? Is that you in there?
Front mech looks like massive potato
the guy who dreamed this gruppo up looks like a massive potato
Campi goes directly to the coffin with that move ... just my humble opinión
so it's made of plastic, it's bloody huge and the shifting performance is "Good enough". Yeah that sounds like 5k worth of Italian mastery
the front and rear derailleurs have got tumors best to remove before it spreads
like the comment, love the username
Shimano all the way! 36-52/11-30.
Dude $4,000 for a groupset, this is crazy. Yeah it's cool not to have any wires but it's not $4,000+ cool. If they kept making 10 speed Record with decreasing prices over time I'd keep buying it for decades.
Get 10 speed Record right in my soul
They should call it SRAMpagnolo, except that the front and rear batteries aren't interchangeable, and there is no integrated power meter. It is surprising that Campagnolo chose to keep with twelve cogs and not make the jump to thirteen. I have to admit I am a fan of the SRAM system. I expect within the next few years Shimano will put individual batteries on the derailleurs to complete their own transition to SRAMano.
$RAMpagnolo, maybe?
Confirmed: Campagnolo don't know why they exist either.
The more I find out, the more it looks like a complete disaster.
Agree.
The smaller chainrings and sprockets ensure more friction than with a DuraAce group.
Yup, the industry tells cyclists that they need oversized jockey wheels, and a 10 tooth cog. How gullible would you have to be?😊
50-34 isnt so bad. but the fact that it only gets smaller from there is just weird as hell
With only one pro tour team left still using Campy, and rumours they'll be moving over to Decathlon next year, it's not looking good for Campy. Respect to them for their innovations, but this groupset is too little too late. You can only play catch up for so long until you just can't keep up.
They told us that they will have a team next year. Wouldn't say which one though
What rumours they'll be moving to Decathlon? What does this mean?
Sadly SRAM still has a more complete and compelling offering.
@@michaelmechex No it is not simple as that. It is not just about having enough gears for not spinning out.
5,000usd lol
Signed their own death certificate.
What has happened to tradition??? Give me an option for brakes. I guess now the only option is to go and buy as many rim brake sets as I can to keep my frames happy in the future. Thumb shifters????
Thanks for chasing away lifelong customers.
8:27 Yes, of course, it was snatched away by the Chinese, which I had predicted years ago!
Only rich people with glamour lifestyle will buy 😂
Dude, speak your mind truthfully. This copy of SRAM can not be what we have been waiting for. It looks 10 years dated and no bells or whistles. Super nonsense is what it is, while you are at it, perhaps you can justify the ridiculous price. Ok, I get it, it's a prototype 😂😂😂
I stopped after I heard disc only and the cost. 😮
These stopped our hearts
Going wireless - very okay. Derailleur batteries not being interchangeable between front and rear - very un-okay. No interchangeability with previous 12-gear gruppos - most un-okay.
10 tooth cogs are just terrible
Why does it look like it's been sand blasted??
This is nail to the coffin for once....thumb shifts is gone which is unacceptable. They don't need wireless,it will be best they could go semi wireless system keeping the main features thumb shifts alive. Now they are just losing more regular customers away to elsewhere.
Thumb shifters and 5-arm cranks are all we want
Looks like more money for inferior tech...
This is sad new about the this new group set I will see more problems h a head this
First Campagnolo high end gruppo that I don't like at all. Fancy SRAM...
After 1:15 min. I am out of here... 😮
Ask Campagnolo why someone have to Choose them?
5k and no brake point adjustment 😂
The reason it's ditched is because they found out people aren't really utilising the feature.
@@yonglingng5640 Who are "people"? I have small hands and for me it's an essential feature. Reach adjustment alone doesn't cut it. I will never buy another groupset without brake point adjustment if I can help it.
@@UloPe I'm with you! Which leaves Shimano
I might be the only one who's disliked the ride feel and inefficient 10t cog. I really hate it how it feels on my SRAM . Useless gears combined with smallest chain rings ...not efficient.
I don’t know what are they smoking but it’s expensive. Super record bike would be like 15k minimum
😡 disappointed! Was expecting the first set of wireless brakes!
Probably won't see this any time soon. Imagine if the battery runs out of power - it could be your last ride...
@@jc_sanchez it was a joke . . .
short answer: No. long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
It is a bit chunky, isn’t it? Really bulky.
The derailleurs are certainly sizeable
Sounds very complex and unfinished... I am not sure...
Big money for a group set with a clunky FD? Are you kidding me?
Conclusion: "The shifting is slower than the latest Shimano Di2, but faster than the SRAM"
Bye bye Campy
10-29 max casette is a joke.
29t matched with the 48x32 chainwheels give approx same ratio as 32t rear/ 50x34t front. Good enough for the mountains where I go.

Thumb button is a joke. Thanks it’s gone. Italian trying too hard again
They couldn't make the derailleur batteries interchangeable because SRAM has the patent on interchangeable batteries?! Good grief🤔
It's certainly a strange one.

Ugly, what happened to the Italiano design aesthetic?
Why it does not cost a 25 000€? Who would want so cheap crap
I agree, too cheap for my liking.
It looks like a rip off of a cheap Chinese groupset. Laughter is all this will provoke when seen on bikes in the wild. You’d have to be an actual full blown moron to buy this over SRAM. Or a least someone who’s fallen for the “wallet inspector” con several times over.
You'd have to be a moron to buy SRAM over Shimano
They should call it Campagnolo "Saw You Coming" Wireless instead, it is ugly, chunky, expensive and not as good.
I rather spend the money on a Rolex perpetual oyster (other watches are available) or a very nice holiday.
I love it! Nothing matches campagnolo maybe shimano! I will be getting 4 sets for my pinarellos! Sexy group set in the world. Like the other person, I would never support Chinese products….
