Gabriel Hole-Jones Here's the secret. When they tell you to turn it even lower, respond by unplugging your bass, setting it down, and ask them if that's low enough.

AC GAMER no what I'm saying is he expects to play these genres with a drum kit like green day. He also has over a year to learn because we won't be starting writing til next November and we started in September.
Yea, I mean after a while I think the band lightened up on him. But, I think that everyone thinks the rest of the band is what drove him out of Metallica but really it was James. James heart and soul is Metallica and any side projects by any other band member he thinks they are not committed to Metallica and I think I read something just recently about this to that he restated this as well. So if say Kirk where to start a little side project James would get pissed. But, either way James is a guitar god, in my opinion.

@Sweet Jones III Did you really just try calling him out while simultaneously using a word in which you don't even know the meaning of? You ultimately ended up complimenting him by mistake because your vocabulary is subpar of mediocre at best
As a bassist, i have a few things to say. - This is hella accurate! - I love the people commenting how we bass players don't get enough respect - Y'all saying bass isn't needed in a band, I'd like to hear you say that after you've played without one! - And to the people saying bassist are the laziest: That's not true at all! I personally practice a lot (almost 5 hours a day if i have the time). I love playing the bass so I'm ready to work for it so I can become better at it and make people proud. At school, people laugh at me and call me "a guitarist who failed playing the guitar so decided to play bass". I'm not. My father plays bass and used to play in a band. I always wanted to play bass like him ever since I was a little girl. There, I'm done.
it reminded me a band i used to play bass with (my songs, words and music) and slowly they were all having all kinds of inside jokes, the singer now was the drummer's girlfriend, and boom, they kicked me out of the band, tried to go on but they weren't able to write a single part without me, and disbanded xD
Thoughts of a guitar player. "Band practice, the place where I can gather to jam with my friends, and the bassist..." (Bassist arrives) "Oh, he's here... What's his name again? Jeff? Jeremy? James? Oh whatever, he doesn't do shit anyways... Alright! Time to play a song, let's warm up with sweet child o mine." (Starts playing the song) "Oh my god I'm awesome at this." "Is the drummer gonna come in yet or... (Drummer hits snare by accident.) "Oh my god this guy can't do this right! What's *his* name? Oh well..." (Rhythm guitarist comes into the room) "Who's this guy? Oh he's the- mascot? Oh he's a guitarist. Do we have another guitarist? I never noticed."(Singer starts singing) "Wait, this guy SUCKS I could TOTALLY sing better than him?" (Bassist starts playing) "Hey Jeremy, can you play already?" "Oh he is..." (Drummer starts playing when noone else is) "SHUT UP!"
Probably one of your best videos, Jared. It would be cool to see perspectives of the other band members, as several others have already requested. As if they are all cynical towards each other and each have their own hidden disentiments which manifest as their [to the bass player's viewpoint] arrogant personalities. Lots of potential here. Great shit!
This kinda describes me when I was in my first band, I had a cocky lead guitarist/vocalist who would never shut the fuck up and would never stop shredding but my drummer was respectful. I was only 12 years old at the time. Despite having a first bad experience, playing bass is one of by biggest priorities besides school. I love it.
A bass player plays hard a bass guitar. A kid came and says: "Daddy, When you grows up who are you gonna be?" It is a concert. A vocalist thinks "I'm so cool, sing like God". A guitar player thinks "I am the fastest. All chicks are gonna be mine after a concert". A drummer thinks "I play much louder than others. I'm gonna be put in the Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame". And a bass player thinks "F C F C"
Gabriel Hole-Jones oh, yeah? Tell the drummer he's out of tune. Hand him your drum key on your car key ring. "Do you need me to get something out of your car...?" Kind of a true story. I've seen TWO good music schools allow termiting drum sticks (bits of wood flying everywhere) and out of tune kits!!
Bass is crucial. Im not playing it but when I listen to music its obvious that bass plays serious part. I hope bass players will never stop doing what they are doing. You guys are awesome!
I actually had to sign in to post this comment. I relate hard to this video haha! As a bass player, I came in to a band that had their previous bass player quit. Having the guitarist tell me "just watch my hands and play what I play" like you wanna give me a minute to figure out whats going on?
This sounds like the inner monologue of almost every bassist I've worked with. In all seriousness, it's hard to find any musicians that can't get their ego out of their ass. Every instrument is important and is great in its own way.
seeing this, I realized how grateful I am that the people I play bass with treat me as if I'm an important part. Sometimes, they even let me use the drive channel when we're playing heavier songs

This is very deep. I'm not joking. It's how a band goes. Even if the bassist is the most talented guy, writes most of the songs or even does lead vocals, he's always uninvited to any social gathering.
What about people like Steve Harris, Cliff Burton(when he was alive of course), John Myung, or Tom Araya? Especially Tom because he is the fucking lead singer of the band?
My bandmates actually told me to turn my bass up today. Made me happy.
+Nojala Really? My bandmates seem to think we're trying to copy "And Justice For All".
Gabriel Hole-Jones Here's the secret. When they tell you to turn it even lower, respond by unplugging your bass, setting it down, and ask them if that's low enough.
That was the drummer, I take it?
If you get told to turn down, that means "you suck, we're trying to be nice..." :)

Why does everyone always pick on the bassist :[
lol! i love this. hey jared, I would really love to see this same kind of idea, with a guitarist, vocalist, and drummer. just a thought. love all the vids, ill be looking forward to more. also thanks for this channel, its hilarious, and also inspires me to play guitar more. you da man!
This is very deep. I'm not joking. It's how a band goes. Even if the bassist is the most talented guy, writes most of the songs or even does lead vocals, he's always uninvited to any social gathering.
What the fuck are you talking about lol
truth
What about people like Steve Harris, Cliff Burton(when he was alive of course), John Myung, or Tom Araya? Especially Tom because he is the fucking lead singer of the band?
K McAlpine they were superstars. Most aren't.
Yay you are back!
I am offensive and I find this bassist
my favorite video of Dane's yet. kinda felt like a first person narrative from "Fight Club" and "pi"
