Thanks for your insight, Father. I believe that St Theophan the Recluse put it best "Will the heterodox be saved? Why do you worry about them? They have a Saviour who desires the salvation of every human being. He will take care of them. You and I should not be burdened with such a concern. Study yourself and your own sins... I will tell you one thing, however: should you, being Orthodox and possessing the Truth in its fullness, betray Orthodoxy, and enter a different faith, you will lose your soul forever" However, being a convert from the Latin Church, I can vouch that many 16th century saints and onwards got... pretty weird. Rose of Lima, a canonized saint from where I come from, used to flog herself, slept with a metallic crown of thorns, and at one point had a vision of Christ Child asking her to become his wife. If their relics are incorruptible or not, that is not our concern.
@@ZachareyQuintana-qi4td Indeed, she's a pre Schism saint, and is still venerated. However, according to tradition, it was when, under torture, that the Emperor Maxentius told her that if she married him, he'd stop the tortures. She then retorted that she was already consecrated to Christ, was sent to be killed by breaking wheel (the wheek broke), and finally got beheaded. Not the same as Rose of Lima, though being fair to the former, there are those that doubt that St Catherine ever existed, especially in the West.
@@jlqe3401 I'm just saying that getting a proposal from Christ as a woman is not a weird or concerning thing. The fact that Rose has a similar experience to St Catherine to the T makes me think that either it was real or that she knew of St Catherine's proposal by the Christ Child I don't allow doubt to manifest solely because there are others who doubt. Many people hear the lives of our saints and they think them fairytale or legend or myth. I refuse that, I believe them all. I challenge myself whenever I doubt them. These things we have and have preserved, are held because we worship Truth incarnate, more so that what our minds can create. I have no way of knowing if this Rose of Lima was a saint or not. I do believe saints can be found outside the Orthodox Church, I am sortve liberally Orthodox in that way, but what is certain is that all canon Saints are real living Saints.
The point about imitation of Christ is very insightful. In the Latin church, it seems that a direct consequence of denying the uncreated energies is that the Christian life ceases to be participatory and becomes imitative or mimetic. Since participating in God directly is impossible under Roman Catholic theology, the way to draw closer to God in that system is something more akin to imitating the archetype (Christ) indirectly. This is the only way I can make sense of the doctrine of created grace, which seems to lead to these errors. Under papism, you're no longer participating in the same works of God through synergy, but replicating them analogically. What St Gregory of Nyssa calls the "abyss" between created and uncreated is undermined by such an approach.
Good insights. I want to add that "demonic energy" can also fall under the category of "created grace," since demons are created beings and have their own kind of energy or distorted grace. The mimicking or imitative style of worship tends to be both theurgic and magical, rather than truly liturgical and reverent. Demons can easily influence this kind of immature, make-believe form of "worship".
I'm Catholic. You got it wrong. Imitation of Christ doesn't mean literally do everything he did, idk what kind of disingenuous strawman that is which the father pulled out. I'll explain our view. Imitation of Christ has always been understood in light of the Eucharist's relation to the Church. Because the Eucharist is the body of Christ we eat it to become confirmed to Christ, what we eat we become. This is why St. Paul when he was yet a persecutor of the Church was told by the Lord "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute *me* " and St. Paul would later explain that we are the Body of Christ. Imitation therefore is understood as a *Christ centered perspective on sanctification* and as such has entered more or else every spiritual practice in the Church even before the schism. But you have lost your tradition I presume because of your spirit of rebellion against the true Church. So it's not about mere imitation like a mimic, it's about Christ indwelling us and making us his Body more perfectly, it is participatory, deification at its finest. In my personal prayer life, I often pray the Breast Plate of St. Patrick which according to experts dates at least to the 8th century pre-schism. And towards the end it has a typical imitation of Christ thematic.
I'm a Roman Catholic and I'm sorry but that is a straw man. Adhering to a particular theology isn't what makes you participate in God's life, but grace is. Whether that communication is defined as an eternal uncreated energy, or a divine intervention in time, what is communicated itself through grace is the divine life itself, that is obviously uncreated, which is what we believe. No need for essence/energies as a real distinction in God, and holding that particular theology is not what makes grace effective. You're actually comparing gnosicism to pelagianism, not Palamas to Augustine.
Hmmmm I disagree God drew me to the Catholic Church and I particpate with God fully I feel his prescence at Mass feel the Eucharist burn in mouth even had it heal me
Aren't many of these "relics" outside of the church encased in wax and actually decayed inside the wax coating? There's been scandal about this in the RC world from time to time. Unlike say St. Alexander of Svir where the relics are essentially in a state of preserved desiccation where decomposition doesn't occur.
Decomposition is different from aesthetic perfection, which is meaningless. It's like claiming an elderly person is dead and decayed because her face isn't as youthful as it used to be. Wax and glass urns alone are not nearly even close enough to preserve a body from complete decay. And i'm pretty sure none of other bodies are in a perfect (?) state like St. Alexander, but no catholic is using that fact as an argument against the orthodox.
I'm Orthodox and someone asked me about the validity of someone who is not Orthodox being healed through prayer, veneration etc; The only answer I could think of is that God's love for that person and their faith might be so great that healing them even though they are outside of the faith might be done to bring them to the faith. I think of the Roman officer who had faith that Christ's mere pronouncement of healing on his distant servant would heal him. Christ our Lord honored that officer's faith.
I was convinced into faith in Christ in a Protestant community, because of a miracle healing in response to a simple prayer. It took another 3½ years for me to discover and then commit to the Orthodox Church. God's grace is now immensely more active in my life. The difference is very much like night and day, but God's incredible grace for me was still there, even during my Protestant years. Just like the moon still gives off a bit of sunlight, even at nighttime.
@@meusisto I was going to evenings to learn about Christianity. I was slowly getting convinced by small responses to my prayers, but nothing yet that would completely convince me that God is real. One of the ladies there had very serious coeliac disease, which is incurable. The slightest amount of gluten would make her extremely, extremely sick. I brought gluten-free snacks to the evenings regularly… Except one evening it went wrong when there were bars loaded with gluten in the gluten-free rack. The supermarket missed it, I missed it, she missed it, her husband missed it, even though we all checked. Very peculiar. So then she ate it and a few moments later her husband checked again and this time he noticed immediately. So we prayed for her, and she did not get sick. Then it turned out she was healed completely! So that confirmed for me that, at the very least, there’s Someone out there who listens to prayers and has the power and, at least that time, the willingness to respond!
Quote from Catherine of Siena: “Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom. He who rebels against our Father is condemned to death, for that which we do to him we do to Christ: we honor Christ if we honor the Pope; we dishonor Christ if we dishonor the Pope. I know very well that many defend themselves by boasting: 'They are so corrupt, and work all manner of evil!' But God has commanded that, even if the priests, the pastors, and Christ-on-earth were incarnate devils, we be obedient and subject to them, not for their sakes, but for the sake of God, and out of obedience to Him.” St. Catherine of Siena, SCS, p. 201-202, p. 222, (quoted in Apostolic Digest, by Michael Malone, Book 5: “The Book of Obedience”, Chapter 1: “There is No Salvation Without Personal Submission to the Pope”).
Uf..Lord have mercy.. Also: Catherine recounts a vision of union with Christ. As Catherine tells it, Jesus appeared to her and declared his intention to make her his mystical bride. Now, lots of women mystics in the Middle Ages had such visions. But only Catherine’s mystical marriage included a wedding ring from Christ, made of his own flesh: the foreskin from his circumcision.
Nice try, Deserrto! Do better. This is the actual quote: “If God has declared war on you because of the wrong you have done your father, his vicar, you are weak indeed, having lost his help. It’s true that many do not believe they are offending God by this. It seems to them they are offering sacrifice to him. If they persecute the Church and its pastors they defend themselves by saying, “They are bad, and they are doing all kinds of evil.” But I’m telling you that God wills, and has so commanded, that even if the pastors and Christ on earth were devils incarnate (rather than good kind fathers), we must be submissive and obedient to them-not for what they are in themselves but out of obedience to God, because they take the place of Christ, who wants us to obey them.” Here's what's wrong with your misquote: " " Even though there could be alternative readings, it would appear much more obvious that she is using hyperbole and not literally saying that the Pope could be a devil incarnate (let alone Satan incarnate) and obedience would be required. There is no comment about having to peacefully lie in his bosom, only obedience - and even then, it is only for God’s sake. This makes sense because Catherine of Siena could, maybe, be suspected of heresy if she said otherwise considering the infallible Galatians 1:8: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.” Her quote only applies to Popes. If there was, or is, an Antipope, all bets are off. Antipopes have no more authority than a layman to decide the direction of the church" ". catholicmisquotes.com/2023/10/03/even-if-the-pope-were-satan-incarnate-we-ought-not-to-raise-up-our-heads-against-him-but-calmly-lie-down-to-rest-on-his-bosom-st-catherine-of-siena/
St. Cathrine of Siena pray for us! She was right, since at no point is Judas enough of a reason to disobey the 12. She's saying that the Catholic Church will not be overcome by the gates of hades. Very beautifully illustrated in a radical but true way. God is with us and protects us. Unlike your patriarchs who can teach heresy in their teaching office and be excommunicated, the Pope remains always protected by the Holy Spirit. I noticed in Ecumenical dialogue you guys were genuinely afraid that your patriarchs would accept to obey Rome and thus falsify Orthodoxy, yet on the Catholic side I saw no one being afraid that the Catholic Church would renounce Vatican 1. That shows you the difference of faith between us and how St. Catherine has in a sense exposed your lack of trust in God.
St Alexander of Svir "Aleksanteri Syväriläinen" is a incorrupt saint in the orthodox church. He was a monk in Ladoga Valamo but got given a divine message to leave the monastery and build a new one in Svir. He is 1 of 2 saints to behold the Holy Trinity with his eyes.
Rather than focusing on the negativity of arguments sake, one may or may not see it the same way, but it truly is a blessing that now there is more dialogue than ever between those who consider themselves as opposing factions to one another. Let it be understood as yet another sign for what is to come. The persecution seen in the eastern hemisphere will also be matched in the west, if not doubled. The sheep are scattered, and a storm approaches from the east to swallow up those who do not respond to His voice and take shelter under Him. Soon, it will be a distant memory of one being able to speak their mind freely without fear of imprisonment or death. Even money itself will become so worthless that it’s not worth being printed on paper. The only currency of use will be one’s soul.
From the orthodox church’s perspective the only dialog to be had is to educate those on the church. As the church has always been the church. Having dialogue in the meaning to reach a middle ground is not what the Orthodox Church will do. That’s what modernist and the Antichrist brigade want. Everything else you speak of is trials that those faithful to the true church will have to endure. All of those part of the body of Rome and its derivatives will be okay in this world.
Here's one of the saddest recent stories, in this vein. (It's quite recent, not hard to find the whole story online.) A Romanian Orthodox woman with an advanced cancer diagnosis visited the Vatican. There, she saw an icon of Padre Pio, and she prayed to him, that she might be cured of cancer. She was indeed cured of her cancer, remarkably. Not long thereafter, she left Orthodoxy and became a Papist. Following that, her Romanian Orthodox parish, in Romania, left Orthodoxy with her, including the priest. That parish, in Romania, has now become a part of the apostate "church" of Rome, and the woman is utterly cancer-free. This is sadly true.
Maybe. Just maybe. It doesn't have anything to do with "being in the right" religion. Maybe. Just maybe. It's OKAY to not have a pompous authoritative explanation for everything. Maybe. Just maybe. Strange things happen. And it has nothing to do with when or in front of who or under what believe you "pray." Maybe. Just maybe. Stuff..... Just sometimes happens. And it's ok for me to say, "I don't know how."
@@silas427 who cares, you've admitted multiple times to canonizing false saints. Your canonisations are not infallible unlike ours. So maybe you've also missed some saints who were true saints, like Padre Pio. I've seen Orthodox who recognize him as a saint.
Thank you fr Peter for covering this topic. This is a topic that comes up over and over again with new converts or enquirers I speak with and I don’t know what to say.
Im Greek Orthodox and I have a bit of a problem with “uncorrupted” saints. The first time I heard about it I was excited to see a person who appeared to have died yesterday. But some peoples idea of uncorrupted is different than mine. My thought was “This person looks very very dead for a long time”
Well, one thing that Catholics definitely have going for them that we Orthodox Christian’s sadly lack is that they don’t feel the need to insert ethnic qualifiers in front of their church. Orthodox Christian’s actually don’t either, but people started doing that in Western countries and it’s been a plague on the church ever since. When I was in Greece, nobody ever said they were “Greek,” Orthodox. In fact, they generally just said they were Christian. In reality, there is no such thing as the “Greek Orthodox Church.” There is the Orthodox Church in Greece. The Orthodox Church in Romania, Russia, the US etc…. Elder Aimilianos of Simopetra (Mt Athos) once told a foreign monk that was proud of how Greek he sounded when chanting the Psalter, “yes, you sound very Greek. Now you must learn to sound very Christian.” Catholics in America did that for a short time (Irish Catholics, German Catholics etc.). They, being much smarter and better educated than most Orthodox people, dropped that pretty quick which helped in allowing them to grow in rapid numbers. Unfortunately, some Orthodox Christians will hold on to their ethnic identity far longer than they’ll hold onto Christ. We have the truth. Let’s not ostracize the masses by shunning people that aren’t Greek. The assumption of every person outside the Orthodox Church that sees “Greek Orthodox,” is that it’s an ethnic church for Greeks. And until Orthodox people grow up and get smarter, it’ll remain that way.
Hehehehe it depends how long. Go and see John Paul II, he look quite fresh But people with 1000 years are not suppouse to have meat around their bones any more, but I know what you mean
It shows a lack of humility to show the great saints such as Catherine of Siena as being delusional because she doesn’t conform to your view of what true holiness it. It’s circular logic. Just read Song of Songs to realise that there is a real Bride Bridegroom relationship between Christ and the Church (and to the soul). Additionally, Christ in His human nature as the perfection of manhood ought to be imitated to as great a degree as possible
I always felt uncomfortable with all this stuff in the RCC and had to leave forever. The Orthodox Church has no superstitious twists in her teachings. Glory to God for the Eastern Orthodox Church. Thank you Father Peter Heers for exposing these things. People need guidance towards Christ, not all this stuff that is put out to scare people and screw with minds. The Holy Gospels speak nothing of all this hocus pocus. ☦️

Please, if You have not studied profoundly catholic history and theology (with studying I don’t mean learning apologetic stuff against it) do not speak about that just because somebody of Your followers ask You to do so. In fact in the catholic theological faculties we learn much more about the eastern traditions, because 1. we have inside of catholic church byzantine christians, 2. because we don’t need an enemy as essential part of our identity 3. because we want to understand their perspective (for example as part of Papal university there is a Oriental institute where are orthodox theologians studying and celebrating orthodox liturgy. The orthodox doctrine, rather the dogma of the Church, was rejected and replaced by the Latin heretical dogma of the pope's excellence and infallible, that is, man. And out of this all heresy other heresies were and are constantly being born: The filloque, the expulsion of Confession, the unleavened bread, the introduction of creaturely grace, the purgative fire, the treasury of works, the mechanized doctrine of salvation, and hence the mechanized doctrine of life, papocaism, holy scrutiny, indulgences, the killing of the sinner for sin, Jesuitism, scholasticism, casuistry, monarchism, social individualism of various kinds. The mysteries of the heretics have no grace. Their sanctification is not sanctification, their baptism is invalid. This applies to all heretics, without distinction. Church and heresy cannot coexist. The Papacy, therefore, is not a Church. This does not mean that we should not love and pray for heretics as well. But that we do love them is shown by the fact that we would not want them to remain in the error of the papacy, but to know the light of Christ's truth: The Orthodox faith. When you include doctrines alien to the one's established by the Fathers of the One Catholic and Apostolic Church or to put it even better by Lord Jesus Christ himself that have sent the Holy Spirit to continue the teaching after the Pentecost through Saints you are condemned as a Heretic. That is not because someone hates the heretics and it's looking for an excuse to condemn them but because they bring it to themselves, the Holy Ecumenical Councils where calling those that supported a herecy to apologize three times to give them time to thinκ about their mistake and apologize and come back to the truth. You have to remove the heretic from the Church so that there is no defilement of the believers by the heretic. Apostle Paul clearly said Galacians 1:8 "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed" NOONE CAN CHANGE THE GOSPEL Lord Jesus Christ Himself said Matthew 17:19 "I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven" Jesus wants his church to be united, yes but with rules and that rules are established by the Holy Ecumenical Councils, by Lord Jesus Christ Himself not mere humans, the way you mean it that's what the BIGGEST HERECY of all time Ecumenism teaches, which leads you to PRAYING with islamists, buddhists etc and finally WORSHIPING the antichrist.
If the aspect is different, we can guess that there is something wrong. If the aspect is the same, the question is: did this heterodox peoples gather in the one, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church? The Orthodox Church? Is there teaching uniting with the Body of Christ? The answer is no.
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Matthew 24.24
The relics of those considered saints and incorrupt in Catholicism are fixed up, their faces are plastered over and made to look alive and more. This is not done in the Orthodox Church - ever. As we found them, so we display them. Here is an example of an incorrupt Orthodox saints who reposed just a few years ago in San Francisco: orthochristian.com/49948.html
In my opinion the two churches split because of “ politics”. The “politics” has not changes and it looks like it will continue until the lord straightens thing out.
No. Not true at all. To understand the Great Schism you must understand the Great and Holy Oecumenical Council in Constantinople in 879, the Eighth Oecumenical Council. Once you understand this, and Rome's rejection of the Filioque and papal power OVER other Sees, then you will see clearly that 1014 (the addition of the Filioque IN ROME) and 1054 are a departure from the Church, rejection of the Infallible Voice of the Holy Spirit in Council, and a rejection of the conciliar nature of the Church. Then you will see that the Church did not have to call a new council to rule, for now Old Rome turned and walked away, or, perhaps more accurately, was taken over by heretics from the north (which had already rejected not only the 8th Oc. Council, but also the 7th!) Your opinion can only be held if you are ignorant of Church history from around 879 - 1054. @OrthodoxEthos from my Catholic perspective, I don't mean saved in the way protestants use the term. I mean being saved from sin and also being one with the father and the son and the Holy Spirit in eternal life. I've always believed that there are people outside the Catholic, Orthodox and Christian churches who will be saved because, as Paul says, the law is written on their hearts.
"You ask, will the heterodox be saved... Why do you worry about them? They have a Saviour Who desires the salvation of every human being. He will take care of them. You and I should not be burdened with such a concern. Study yourself and your own sins... I will tell you one thing, however: should you, being Orthodox and possessing the Truth in its fullness, betray Orthodoxy, and enter a different faith, you will lose your soul forever." St Theophan the recluse, if you want to read more just search "St Theophan heterodox" on google
Your commentary dissapoints me dear Father. We Catholics know there are many problems in the Church. A true Catholic faith transcends the Church's problems. We know and believe there is only one Christ and, we also know that with God miracles are possible. Regarding Catherine of Siena, "medieval Christians would not have blushed at 'its' explicit references. Many twelfth-century mystics read 'it' as a grand allegory depicting the spiritual romance between God and the Christian monastic soul." St. Francis of Assisi never asked to get the stigmata. He was an incredibly devout and humble monk who lead an astounding holy life which led to many conversions and brought hope to an impoverished people. I suggest you learn more about this great saint. You will be amazed by his holy resolve and incredible humility. I appreciate your comments from an Orthodox perspective; but, I believe that there is a good reason for the Catholic church to also exist. This should not be about how we see each other in faith from a divisional perspective; it should be more about how God created his Church before our differences caused that division. We are brothers and sisters growing from the same root. Bless your life journey Father.
That's not the same, they live and eat in a way that purges their gut bacteria from their body, reducing or completely stopping decay when combined with a dry environment. They're not saints, they're ritually committing suicide.
There’sa “living mummification” process that some of them go through that involves severe starvation and eventual death. The cell that they are placed in (underground if I remember) and lack of food leads to the body not decaying.
honestly I feel like this channel is more harmful to orthodoxy than beneficial. I never see any real answers for any questions, just some word salads that do not end up anywhere. More often than not I see a lot of holier than thou behavior, superiority complex or usage of ugly language insinuating every saint that doesn't belong to that particular part of the world as "delusional" or "demonic" instead of saying something like "God knows". This is not the Orthodoxy I was being taught and I have never seen such behaviour from any Catholic parish or a priest for over 8 years of me being Catholic. I guess I still have to do more reading before deciding on my path to either convert to orthodoxy or remain a catholic. I was leaning orthodox for 2-3 months heavily until I came across this channel but I should not rush I think. surely won't be watching this channel though. Keeping traditions, teachings is one thing but acting all superior and talking uncharitably about saints you can't possibly know are delusional or not as almost a certain matter doesn't scream humility to me no offense and strike off as a small eastern europe country club that calls and automatically disregards everything developed outside of it as something demonic, fake, delusional etc. There also seems to be a significant amount of Pharisiasm
Insulting the stigmata of the biggest saint in history on his feast as delusional show the true heart of this man. In Orthodoxy as far as I'm aware if some persons skin is still attached to their bones after 3 years it is a sign that they are not moving on into the Afterlife and they need to be resumed and placed into a monastery or church they wil need to be blessed for another 40 Days.
I am not sure that always applies at this day and age. It requires discernment. A lot of people nowadays die while hospitalized and heavily medicated with antibiotics, chemotherapy medicine, etc. All of which do not allow the body to easily decompose, certainly not within 3 years.

So, you all have a miracle of the Holy Fire - what's the deal? Can't God bless any group with apostolic foundations? As for incorrupt saints - we have them: Sister Wihelmina Lancaster. ( Missouri ).
"Apostolic foundations". The teaching that apostolic succession is separate from apostolic faith is not an Orthodox teaching, not found in the Holy Fathers. Apostolic succession presupposes apostolic faith -- the Faith of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The Church is not and cannot be divided. Both Orthodoxy and Catholicism cannot possess apostolic faith and succession, for then the Church would be divided and heresy would reign within. Christ promised that His Church would not be overcome by heresy, would not, could not be divided, as the Church is HIS BODY, and HE is the Head. Therefore, the idea that there are many apostolic churches which are divided is erroneous.
Holy fire is not a miracle, it was proven false during crusades and 1 or 2 orthodox Archbishops admitted they lighting the fire. Unfortunately orthodox leadership willingly and willfully concealing this and deceiving millions of Christians that's God is lighting the fire. They even made changes to Greek catechism to wash their hands and stayed quite on this
I always appreciate the Orthodox perspective, but I find it hard to take you seriously now. When speaking of the incorrupt relics, your first point was to criticize the current Pope on some of his statements. And as always, when it comes to seriously tough questions to answer as this, you revert to continuous misrepresentations of Catholic teaching and understanding, which is no different than what any Protestant would do, because you cannot admit to the truth. No hard feelings though.
I didn't get your take away on incoruptability. Father Peter has nothing to defend, catholics we're the first protestants, Martin Luther the priest (Roman Catholic) was the second then 30,000 different protestant brands of Christianity. some of the Holy Saints I pray to lived before the great schisim. incoruptability is NOT Catholic Dogma. believe in this phenomenon or not. the current pope is not "Catholic" since Vatican ll all the popes are "corruptable" no hard feelings.
I don't mean to be rude or anything, but it was a question about "Catholic" incorrupt relics so he would have to have some kind of discussion on catholic doctrine, etc. And this may be a misinterpretation of what you said but i'm pretty sure he was quoting a catholic saint's statements on the pope, where the saint was saying something along the lines of, "Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom". Please correct me if i'm wrong, I am sure I might've got something wrong here.

I'm Catholic. You got it wrong. *Imitation of Christ has always been understood in light of the Eucharist's relation to the Church.* Because the Eucharist is the body of Christ we eat it to become confirmed to Christ, what we eat we become.
Under Thomism, God is described with the concept of absolute divine simplicity, meaning he is pure essence. How does a Catholic receive Jesus in the Eucharist? Is holy communion participating in God’s divine essence?
This is one of the saddest examples of ‘Orthobro’ mental acrobatics I’ve come across yet. They bring their Protestant fundamentalist hard wiring with them when they convert and this is the result. It’s as silly as claiming that true virtue and kindness only exist within Orthodoxy and everything else is just an cheap imitation and parody of it. The explanation for incorruptible relics is simple: their flesh has been spiritualized via a marriage of works and grace par excellence. It isn’t solely a ‘top down’ phenomenon as Western religious materialists claim. It is both top down and bottom up. Reality is not lopsided: it is a balance.
You are mistaken, dear man. (Are you a pernnialist and claim to be Orthodox? I hope not. That is delusional.) First of all, if you watched or were familiar with Fr. Peter, he is no "Orthobro", at least as the term is imagined and used by most. Secondly, you do not represent Orthodoxy at all if you claim that there is Divine Grace in the mysteries of those cut off and outside of the One Church. Name ONE dogmatic theologian or ONE saint who wrote on these matters who supported the idea that the MYSTERIES can be separated from THE MYSTERY of the CHURCH, from the Mystery of the Incarnation, of which the Church is the continuation. If you do not represent Orthodoxy and have made such a foundational error and hold to such a blatant unorthodox dogmatic position, you are also not in a position to pontificate on who is Orthodox and who is not. You appear to be running far away from "fundamentalism" (an easy term to through around), but you are apparently at the other extreme of universalism and perennialism, which is most tragic and sad. However, being a convert from the Latin Church, I can vouch that many 16th century saints and onwards got... pretty weird. Rose of Lima, a canonized saint from where I come from, used to flog herself, slept with a metallic crown of thorns, and at one point had a vision of Christ Child asking her to become his wife. If their relics are incorruptible or not, that is not our concern.
God bless you ☦️😊♥️
Don't forget Catherine of Sienna, who believed God married her mystically and gave her a ring made of His circumcised penis foreskin.
St Catherine the Great Martyr who 100%is an Orthodox St was also proposed to by the Christ Child.
The fact that Rose has a similar experience to St Catherine to the T makes me think that either it was real or that she knew of St Catherine's proposal by the Christ Child
I don't allow doubt to manifest solely because there are others who doubt.

Or, maybe you’re wrong and the Orthodox church is just another schismatic group that left the Church.
Yes they are. Carlo Acutis for example has a silicone mask. Many of the ancient ones pre schism have been coated as well. Good point here.
Yes, they are typically "pickled" in some way or another.
Intresting
@@hayeshopper8998what preschism saints have been preserved? Curious
@@SimpleAmadeus May you tell more about this healing?

“Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom. He who rebels against our Father is condemned to death, for that which we do to him we do to Christ: we honor Christ if we honor the Pope; we dishonor Christ if we dishonor the Pope. I know very well that many defend themselves by boasting: 'They are so corrupt, and work all manner of evil!' But God has commanded that, even if the priests, the pastors, and Christ-on-earth were incarnate devils, we be obedient and subject to them, not for their sakes, but for the sake of God, and out of obedience to Him.”

It’s true that many do not believe they are offending God by this. It seems to them they are offering sacrifice to him. If they persecute the Church and its pastors they defend themselves by saying, “They are bad, and they are doing all kinds of evil.” But I’m telling you that God wills, and has so commanded, that even if the pastors and Christ on earth were devils incarnate (rather than good kind fathers), we must be submissive and obedient to them-not for what they are in themselves but out of obedience to God, because they take the place of Christ, who wants us to obey them.”
Here's what's wrong with your misquote:
" " Even though there could be alternative readings, it would appear much more obvious that she is using hyperbole and not literally saying that the Pope could be a devil incarnate (let alone Satan incarnate) and obedience would be required.
There is no comment about having to peacefully lie in his bosom, only obedience - and even then, it is only for God’s sake. This makes sense because Catherine of Siena could, maybe, be suspected of heresy if she said otherwise considering the infallible Galatians 1:8:
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.”
Her quote only applies to Popes. If there was, or is, an Antipope, all bets are off. Antipopes have no more authority than a layman to decide the direction of the church" ".

Thank you, Father for clarity in these matters.

St Alexander of Svir "Aleksanteri Syväriläinen" is a incorrupt saint in the orthodox church. He was a monk in Ladoga Valamo but got given a divine message to leave the monastery and build a new one in Svir. He is 1 of 2 saints to behold the Holy Trinity with his eyes.
thank you! First time I hear of him. Went to read about his life. What a Saint!
And it has nothing to do with when or in front of who or under what believe you "pray."
Maybe. Just maybe. Stuff..... Just sometimes happens.
And it's ok for me to say, "I don't know how."
Well, Jesus Christ is Lord of the Catholic Church and he brings his children home to union with his Vicar. Simple.

Im Greek Orthodox and I have a bit of a problem with “uncorrupted” saints. The first time I heard about it I was excited to see a person who appeared to have died yesterday. But some peoples idea of uncorrupted is different than mine. My thought was “This person looks very very dead for a long time”
Same
Well, one thing that Catholics definitely have going for them that we Orthodox Christian’s sadly lack is that they don’t feel the need to insert ethnic qualifiers in front of their church.

Short answer: they don't have an answer, and they never will.
What about them?
On their own, on the face of them, they could be of God or of the enemy. Since they are outside of the context of the Church and those experiencing them are not holding the Faith Once Delivered, there is the likelihood that there is spiritual deception.
We gave an extensive answer regarding the need for the LIFE and the MIRACLES to go together. Without the LIFE and FAITH, miracles on their own do not indicate holiness.
@@OrthodoxEthos Nope, all of those are within the context of the Church. And nope, after decades of intense study, no spiritual deception was discovered.

You begin with the Faith Once Delivered and not with the supposed miracles. Otherwise, you set yourself up for delusion, prelest.
Father Peter,
Off topic,
I have a big issue with the "Holy Fire / Holy Flame" occuring over Christs tomb in Israel every year.
The keepers of the flame have admitted on camera that they go in the tomb and light the fire with a lantern.
This has been orchestrated by the Orthodox Church for over (at least) 1000 years.
The patrons legitimately believe the miracle is occuring by Christ alone and not with human intervention. This "secret" is kept from the patrons and only known by the keepers of the tomb who perform the "ritual".
Seeing a charade being upkept and manipulating the Christians that believe seem incredibly incredulous and insincere.

“In the Name of Belzeebul he drives out the demons”. These “orthodox” illiterates are speaking based on assumptions and basic deductive logic: extra ecclesia nolla salus + ecclesia= ecclesia orthodoxa -> all non orthodox saints must for sure not be saints. In Your church are canonized soldiers, rulers etc. who in compare with Franciscus of Assisi of Catharina of Siena had lived very far from an ideal this father speaks about.
…so much ignorance. Directly in Vatican. Or in Bari inside of catholic (!) church we keep there a space for orthodox Christians so they can celebrate there…etc. etc.
Jesus wanted his church to be united. We all are his servants and have no right to even have opposing opinion on that. All those who work to deepen the division work against God.
Apostle Paul clearly said Galacians 1:8 "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed"
NOONE CAN CHANGE THE GOSPEL
Lord Jesus Christ Himself said Matthew 17:19 "I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven"
Jesus wants his church to be united, yes but with rules and that rules are established by the Holy Ecumenical Councils, by Lord Jesus Christ Himself not mere humans, the way you mean it that's what the BIGGEST HERECY of all time Ecumenism teaches, which leads you to PRAYING with islamists, buddhists etc and finally WORSHIPING the antichrist.
Are the non orthodox relics the same as the orthodox ones? Or is there differences in their aspects?
If the aspect is different, we can guess that there is something wrong. If the aspect is the same, the question is: did this heterodox peoples gather in the one, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church? The Orthodox Church? Is there teaching uniting with the Body of Christ? The answer is no.
If they (the heterodox) were saints, why God did not lead them to Holy Orthodoxy? Or they did not obey God, or they were in illusion.
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

The relics of those considered saints and incorrupt in Catholicism are fixed up, their faces are plastered over and made to look alive and more. This is not done in the Orthodox Church - ever. As we found them, so we display them.

Theology and ecclesiology were the cause of the autocephalos Roman church splitting off.
Council, but also the 7th!)

@@turdferguson-y3lsame thing as prelest
@@Milovan1 Yes, but many don't know that
Do the Orthodox genuinely believe that no one outside of the Orthodox church can be saved?
No, but we do know your best chances are with the orthodox
We believe that the salvation brought by Christ is in the Orthodox Church. Anything outside of Church is not our business. God is the judge, not us.
What does it mean to be “saved”?
First let’s understand what the Church has ALWAYS taught on this central matter.
THEN … answer the question.
There are also Buddhist incorrupt relics of monks.
Yup. The demons

They go through a special process to dry their bodies out, akin to mummification.

honestly I feel like this channel is more harmful to orthodoxy than beneficial.

However he had great affection for St. Thomas Aquinas I've heard, I do not personally venerate St. Palamas so I am speaking lightly.

Degenerate Pope Francis

Yeah Orthobro pope doesn’t really make good points but he states things in a way that’s very palatable to “based” boys and seemingly clear, even if patently untrue and misleading. That’s why he has any kind of following
Council, but also the 7th!)
Your opinion can only be held if you are ignorant of Church history from around 879 - 1054.

I'm Catholic. You got it wrong.
*Imitation of Christ has always been understood in light of the Eucharist's relation to the Church.*
Under Thomism, God is described with the concept of absolute divine simplicity, meaning he is pure essence. How does a Catholic receive Jesus in the Eucharist? Is holy communion participating in God’s divine essence?
We know what incorruptible means.
We didn't lose anything when the Roman church left except an autocephalos church.
@@Christianity_and_Perennialism thank you!!!
You are mistaken, dear man. (Are you a pernnialist and claim to be Orthodox? I hope not. That is delusional.)
First of all, if you watched or were familiar with Fr.
