Hurricane Sally Shelling. Dodging rain looking for beach treasures. Albino Lightning Whelk Found!

- Hurricane Sally shelling ended up being pretty interesting! Storms down here in Southwest Florida are sometimes a welcome thing because beach combers and shellers will flock to the beaches after a storm looking for beach goodies. We were really lucky to have not gotten the entire wrath of Sally, but we did manage to get lots of rain and a few great shells.
I am a native Florida girl stranded in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee. It's very beautiful here, but I still have saltwater in my veins and the song of the sea in my heart. Thank you SO much for the beach moments when for a little while, I am home.
Oh stranded mermaid! I'm glad I can take you to the ocean. I love pretty landscapes, but the ocean has my heart too!
Oh, Swoon! That Albino Lightning Welk is Gorgeous 😍 Many Thanks, Sharmon, for taking all of us to the beach ⛱️ 🐚
Oh the good ol' days when hurricanes merely brushed us 😃❤️
Thank you for asking people to let the birds rest. Storms are really rough on them 🦢
Those poor guys LOOKED tired! Thank you for watching!
I’m with you, I love the albino Lightning Welk. What a beauty!! Really enjoyed our walk today, thank you!!😊🐬
Gotta love our community!! Amazing how stirred up the water was that day.
Debi Brown That Delta storm did a number on the gulf too! Huge waves the last couple if days!
The person who disliked, IS CRAZY!!!!! HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE SUCH AN AWESOME VIDEO!!!!!
LOL! I happen to think the same thing, but I'm not for everyone I guess. 😊
SWF Beach Life OMG thank you so much for liking my comment!!!! I am in shock!!! You are my favorite UA-camR!!!!!
Slk Love roblox Thank you so much! I love sharing my beach adventures! Thank you for watching!
First video of yours I've seen and I am in heaven! You could not remove me from that beach!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching!! I have a new beachy video every Sunday!
Bellissime conchiglie. Grazie per bellissimo video.
Sei il benvenuto! Grazie per aver guardato!
Fabulous shells 🌼🌸🌼
Thanks for watching!
Coooool!!!!!!!! Albino Lightening Welk!!!!!! That is so pretty. 😄
I was quite happy with that score too! Thank you for letting me share my walk with you!
This amount of shells being found reminds me of beachcombing in Hawaii in the 60's & 70's, so many shells!. Sadly, as the years have progressed, you are lucky to find one or two shells early in the morning here, but thats it. Visitors wearing sunscreen with toxic chemicals to ocean life/picking live shells is part of it.Lucky that sunscreen is outlawed now. The Pandemic & some storms have closed certain beaches here allowing the reefs to grow back, & fish are returning!😊
That sunscreen is killing the reefs! I don't know how many people know about that but it should be more widely publicized. I am committed to only buying reef safe sunscreen - not sure how much it will help down here in FL, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes. The reefs provide us with so much life! I see in certain places throughout the globe reefs are being "planted" and hopefully can be restored to it's previous glory. I'm glad to hear your reefs and fish are coming back and really glad to hear the non-reef-safe sunscreen is outlawed. That's great news! Thanks for the Hawaii update but I still want to come and see if I can find a shell or two for myself one day!
@@SWFBeachLife Yes! Hopefully, as the years go by, and the health of the reefs return, (and we educate our visitors NOT to collect LIVE shells, the beach will be like Florida's, full of shells again, & a special one for you!😊
@@eringemini7091 My husband is threatening if we go we might never come home! I'd like to think we could swing it in 2022. Fingers crossed there will be a few shells for me to find!
I know this is an older video but I absolutely love your videos. I watch them
All the time. So I just wanted to say THANK YOU ☺️.
You are so welcome! I thoroughly enjoy taking my walks and sharing them with you! Thank you for watching! xoxo
I just wanted to say thanks for a great video and I think I'm really going to enjoy your channel I love every thing beach
Well if you love everything beach, you've come to the right place - I love everything beach too! Thank you for watching!
Amazing find...oh i really love those shell...❤😊always looking forward to all your video...even its old or new..❤
Thank you so much 🤗
I just found your page and I am thrilled. I used to follow another lady that lives on Sanibel but she hasn’t posted in quite a while. This is my absolute favorite past time. ❤️
You have chosen a very awesome pastime! I go to the beach every weekend and look for shells and critters and general beachy goodness. I'm glad you found my channel and thanks so much for watching!!
Really great Albino Lightning Whelk!!!
I was so happy with that guy! 😍
That was so amazing that you found that albino shell! Lucky lady
So lucky! It's been a while since I've found an albino lightning whelk - those are pretty special shells to find ☺️
Loved seeing that albino lightning whelk!
Oh my word your so lucky where you are they are beautiful shells best wishes from England.
Hello across the pond friend! I am SO lucky. I visit beaches as often as I can and I always find something fun to talk about. Thanks so much for watching!
Great finds!!! Thanks again!!🌟🤩💖
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
Love the scallops so much!
Susan Lawson They come in so many pretty colors! Thank you for watching!
I love scallops too . ❤️
I love anything from the ocean. After a storm, in Cape May, New Jersey, I found quite a few very large Conch shells. They were beautiful. But, what I really love to collect is seaglass (sandglass). I have jars of them and I still look for them whenever I go down on the beach. The best things come from the ocean.
The best things do indeed come from the ocean! My sister-in-law lives in Ocean City, MD and after a winter storm they collected about a garbage can full of giant whelks! It was amazing! We went the following weekend and didn't find one shell. So much of it is luck! I am posting a video tonight and I found a piece of glass...but it wasn't "sea glass" - just a piece that needed to be recycled! Thank you for watching!
@@SWFBeachLife I will definitely be watching your video tonight. I can't wait to see your collection of shells. When I was younger I use to make artwork and even jewelry out if things that I would find on the beach.
Thanks so much for sharing your walks and treasures! I was supposed to holiday for my first time ever in Fort Meyers but Covid put a stop to that!😪Shells to me are fascinating! So I very much appreciate seeing these videos...
Oh I'm sorry COVID messed up your trip. I hope you can reschedule. My first beach visit down here was Fort Myers beach and I fell in love! At least if you watch my videos you'll know the names and the types of shells you'll find once you do finally get to come here. Thank you for watching!
It’s always a good day if you are on the beach
EXACTLY!!
Love the Angel wings. I did not find that many when I was there. But they are cool. And of course I love the sand dollars. lol. Totally like you, if I'm not picking up shells, I'm dreaming of picking up shells. lol.I so want and orange horse conch.
We go to Santa Rosa Blue Mountain Beach every year ( except this year...Covid ). We never see shell’s like this. But one year there were thousands of sand dollars. They were in the water right at that little lip where the water hits the sand. They were alive. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. Until I noticed all the people putting them in buckets. It tore my heart out. Such a beautiful creature, but to take it out of the ocean alive seemed so tragic to me. Loved all of your finds. I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing ❤️
I was really hoping that I would see the sand dollars the way I did a few years ago down here. The sea floor was literally carpeted with them! I would love to share that - hopefully I can catch it again in the future.
Yeah, it's tragic that people just don't know that sand dollars are living creatures. I stopped by a marine science center yesterday and the woman there pointed out most people aren't trying to be mean - they just don't know any better. I'll try to keep spreading the word about our wonderful sea creatures!! Thank you so much for watching!
Wow, I think you are brave to go down to the beach so soon after Sally. But you found the albino lightening whelk which is awesome. I think you did good. Got some urchins and stunning angel wings too. Glad you and hubby got thru Sally fine and the beach didn't take too big of a hit. Another commenter suggested that you could show us your entire collection as well as showing us how you display them in your home. I know my bathroom would have lots of shells in containers around the mirror, on shelves. I'd go bonkers displaying them everywhere. Thank you for taking us on your walk. If you didn't do this, we'd never learn and know about shells and SWF beaches and critters. Linda from Philadelphia
Hi Linda from Philly! We stayed on Walnut Street when we visited years ago. Love it there!
We were VERY lucky with regards to Hurricane Sally! Hopefully we are done for the season. Currently I have some of my shells in glass containers (I'll show you on my video) but I really want to make a shell mirror. There's so much I want to do!!! I have a few videos in the works, but I'll release the collection video soon as I can :) Thank you for watching!!!
Thanks, Naples here!
Thanks for watching neighbor!!
Yay!!!! Another beachy goodness!!! Just love this video 😍! Beautiful albino lightning whelk..... I am so lucky to have a tiny albino whelk just like yours !! I love the amazing zigzag Florida fighting conch!! And that alphabet cone!!!!! Thank you so much 😳
Thank you for watching! I love sharing my beach walks and finds. And sharing it with others who can appreciate the goodies too always makes it more fun. Thank you so much for watching!
@@SWFBeachLife 😊
@@SWFBeachLife Would you make a video on your overall collection of the goodies including CONES??? That would be a great fun!!!
@@dhananjaychakraborty9056 YES! It's that time for me. I will organize my shells and share the video in a few weeks!
I am so much like you when I go shelling I pick up everything and it's hard to get off the beach even if a storm is coming . The angel wings you found were beautiful those are one of my favorites . Thank you again for taking us on your walk. It's like being there!
I didn't think I was THAT bad until we were trying to get off the beach and I kept finding things! Thank you so much for letting me share my beach walk with you!
Seashell Hunter here in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, AL. Got out on the beach this week. Got a video premiering tomorrow showing what I've found! Great channel :)
That albino lightening whelk!😍
I knooooow! Thank you for watching!! 😍
Great finds! That sand dollar with the barnacles is very cool!
Right?! Thank you for watching!
You had a great hall! We don't have that much variety on the northern Gulf Coast. I see mostly angel wings, scallops, sand dollars and jelly fish 😬
We had a good time, as always, and a bonus to find good shells! I didn't move here because of the shells but moving FROM here would be really hard! I visited some other beaches and I see why the sea shell capital of the world is here. I'm very fortunate to live where I do. Thank you so much for watching!
I love Fort Myers beach and beach combing
Just love the albino lightning welk
You had the same experience I had after Sally blew by - not many shells until later. Finally found a nice pear whelk about the same size as yours, a couple of angel wings (and, yes, both of yours were) and a couple alphabet cones on Sat. at Honeymoon Island. Saw the same clumps of dirt or sand?? Awesome albino lightning whelk! Thanks for another great video!
Thank you as always for watching! How is the shelling up by Honeymoon Island? I tried Lido last weekend (had to see for myself) and wondering if there are other beaches up North I should check out.
@@SWFBeachLife I would check it out during the winter months. It's much better. Beach erosion has made walking the island more difficult (it's a natural state park, not groomed); so pick a low tide time!
The albino lightning welk so so cool!🌊👍🏻❣️
Agreed! Thank you for watching!!
What a fun video! I love beach combing, and like you, I find it hard to quit picking things up, lol. In addition to the unbroken shells, I find many of the shell fragments just as beautiful, and sometimes prettier.
I agree! I will sometimes pick up the pieces to admire them even though they are not intact. And I do like keeping the ones that are broken when you can see the inside of the shell. Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching!
Thanks... I needed a fix of beachcombing! Haven't been able to get to the ocean for a couple of years. My favorite is low tide.
Once I moved here and was able to get to the beach quickly, I have become addicted to beachcombing! I love learning about all the critters and shells and general beach awesomeness. Thanks so much for watching!
Love that albino whelk but my fav for the day was the wavy pattern conch. I have yet to see one like that. I missed getting to the beach after Sally so glad you made it and shared with us. Thank you..
You are so welcome and thank you for watching. I recently found a FFC (FL fighting conch) that looked like it was plaid! I'll share that in an upcoming video :)
I can't wait!! Ty
Those were some wonderful finds
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful thank you🤩🤩💜
You’re welcome 😊💜
Love watching your channel. Awesome beach finds! I would not have been able to leave that totally encrusted sand dollar behind, even though I wouldn’t know how to clean it all up. Please share what you make with your shells, that would be cool. Thanks for sharing your beach walks. Keep well 🙂
Thanks for letting me share my finds with you! I would have to buy a storage locker if I kept everything I picked up on the beach! 😂 Hope you keep well too!
Thank you for identifying the items you found! I love shells! I was in FL in March but wasn't able to go shell hunting. We just stopped at a shell shop unfortunately when they were closing. Where is a good place to buy shells? I am the same way about looking/finding them all the way back to the car! LOL Thanks for sharing your beach visits!
There is a great little shop on Sanibel, She Sells Sea Shells, and it has EVERYTHING! Even shells that aren't native to this area. I'm assuming they are ethically sourced, but I don't know for sure. I like going in and looking around. There is another place - it's a bit of a drive, but it has a massive section of shells for sale - The Shell Factory. Hope this helps and thank you so much for watching!
Girl that was an amazing haul! Another gaudy nautica! 🤦♀️🤣🥰 once again an amazing video! 🥰🥰
Why thank you! Can you imagine leaving the beach without picking up those last few shells? Not me 😂
Thank you so much for watching!
On the Florida Fighting Conchs, I just learned recently that sometimes they have purple on the inside & that is more rare. Lack of a chemical. Just sharing in case you’ve never heard or seen one! A lady that volunteers for the Sanibel Shell Museum found one & showed me when I was on Sanibel last month. Love your vids! Nice Albino find! Always so exciting.
I have definitely found FCC with some purple, but I didn't know they are more rare! Thanks so much for letting me know! I'll have to pay closer attention to the colors of those guys! Thank you for watching!!!
More beautiful finds!
Thank you!
I live just North of Houston. About an hr. from Galveston. When I was a kid, my parents used to take us to Galveston and we would find sand dollars all day long. We are lucky to just find pieces now. Our seashell hunting does not yield us nearly as pretty shells as you are finding. We have a beach home just west of Galveston, in Sargent Tx and Beta really tore up our beach. We used to have huge dunes with granite sea wall. Now we have no dunes and barely any beach at all. I love your knowledge of the different types of Shells.
It's a real bummer what storms can do to our beaches. I've seen one beach down here change dramatically in just a few months, and then change back again. And I've heard the shelling even down here used to be much better - if you can believe that!
We're still pretty lucky with the sand dollars and I will find whole ones from time to time. I am quite lucky to live where I do...and I didn't even move here for the shelling! Thank you so much for watching!
like it is my dream to live close to a beach that have beautiful shells
I'm very lucky to live where I do!
Cool finds!
Awesome! ESP love the albino one!
I am from Canada, I always heard Sanibel was the place to go for shells. I made it there , it was cold and stormy but a very bad time to shell, huge disappointment but your video gives me hope for some good shelling in the future!
I didn't know that the time of year also has something to do with finding shells. Apparently the summer winds will drive the shells out and the winter winds will bring the shells in. Who knew? Plus we walk MILES when we go to the beach, so we've learning along the way. The first time I went to Sanibel it was a bust too! I hope you do get to make it back and you have MUCH better luck! Thanks so much for watching my video!
So enjoyed watching ! I miss Fort Myers beach. Use to visit my Mother every winter who lived on Isle Capri :)
It's such a gem of a beach! I'm glad I could bring it to you. Thank you for watching!
Beautiful!!! 💕🐚
Loved this so much! Would love to collect shells in florida! Love from the UK! x
Oh hello friend from across the pond! I wish you could come collect shells in Florida too! You can watch my videos and plan which beaches you want to see :) Thank you for watching!
Love your videos! I live on the east coast and we try to get over there a few times a year. So envious of the horse conch you find. I only found two tiny ones at blind pass when we were there in august. I have never found any angel wings. Keep on shelling!!!! 🐚🐚🐚
I tried the East Coast and I thoroughly enjoyed the beaches but I do think the shells are easier to find over here 😊 That being said I have yet to find my giant horse conch, but I will!!! Thank you for watching!
Hi, from Blackpool UK i never find anything on the beach nearby ,some beaches you can find sea glass some lovely colours but again not on our beach . we only get seaweed lol. like your video its nice and relaxing and interesting .
Hello UK! So I guess what you're telling me is I shouldn't plan a trip to beachcomb in your neck of the woods 😅 I am very lucky that I live where I do and the beaches always provide something interesting to find. Thank you so much for watching!
Yh I live in the UK and I agree. Try southend on sea, there's a beach there idk if u can shell l( I think that's the right term, sorry I'm new to this stuff.) there though
Olives are my favorite right now too!
Aren’t they awesome? I FINALLY found a live one!! Video coming soon! Thank you for watching!
I’m seeing what I collect at the beach, on Long Island sound, and I’m thinking
🤔 SToP🛑 Go Back ⏪ You missed it!!
😆 LOL
I collect the purple pieces of clam shells, called Wampum. I think they’re the prettiest shell, and they’re in broken pieces, but tumbled smooth.
I’d be collecting all of those pretty shells too, but they’re aren’t in Ct.
I’m so jealous.
Thanks for your videos. 🤗
I mentioned wampum in my Hobe Sound video. I found a piece of shell that looked like a big fat quarter, but there was no purple so it wasn't true wampum. Collecting goodies at the beach is so much fun! Thank you so much for watching!
You found so many cool things!! Albino was beautiful! Shiny olives I love! I found some several years ago before I knew what they were. Kinda use it like a worry stone it is so smooth and shiny! I hope to find urchins when I get to come. I’m hoping to get to go to Sanibel, but definitely plan to walk your beach at Ft Meyers you have made it a beach I don’t want to miss! Thanks again!
FMB doesn't get the credit it deserves. I find just as much good stuff there as Sanibel 😊 I love those olives too! Especially if they are fat and shiny with their pointy top. I love how they are naturally smooth too. Thank you for watching!
Just discovered your vlog. Awesome. Use to live in Florida. Now do my beach combing in Puerto Penasco Mexico when down there. Currently hello from Tucson Arizona
Welcome to my channel! I hear from a lot of land locked people and I'm glad I can share my beaches with you! How is the beach combing in Mexico? I would love to experience beach combing in another country! Thank you for watching!
Lots of shelling there but I need to clean them like you did. But great shelling
Alice Wilson Good to know! I’ll add it to my international “wish list!”
you are taking your life in your hands going to Rocky Point... Not worth it...
First time I've seen such beautiful shells ! I'm a beach glass collector myself! But I'm intrigued by your shells! Where is this?
This was on Fort Myers Beach. The hurricane definitely helped bring some shells in but the winter winds hopefully will help push more shells ashore. I'm out on the beach every weekend and I usually find some pretty neat shells. Thanks for watching!
Love all the shells, I've never found an angel wing shell hopefully when we come again soon I will! Love your videos!
Thank you for watching and I hope you find your angel wing shell one day too!
I had never found any...stopped at a Thrift store near the beach and bought a couple bags of them....went to the beach and found tons!!! LOL...
I always buy shells at the thrift stores...not the same as finding them...but the work is already done and the jars are usually cute.
Fabulous !
I AM SO JEALOUS😄you’re doing my very favorite thing!!!! I used to hunt in NC BUT ER MOVED. AND NOW GO TO FLORIDA... NO MORE SHELLS😢
I'm very lucky to live where I do and it's a just a quick drive to several gorgeous beaches. Sorry you can't be here but I hope my videos make you feel a little closer to the beach. 😊 Thank you for watching!
Cool finds and Sans Souci!
Thanks for watching!
Nice finds !😍
Thank you! 😊
Oh wow. I'd be on that beach all day! We don't get shells like that in the UK.
I didn't have shells like this either until I moved down here and now I'm hooked! Thank you for watching!
nice finds
How do you clean your shell? Such a fun video to watch.
I soak them and let them dry, but the really white ones I dip in acid. I made a whole video about it! ua-cam.com/video/5LxOirero5M/v-deo.html
When you find an albino, the interior will be shiny and white like porcelain. Worth some money, lucky you...
I recently found another one. A little chipped, but I love those albinos! Thanks for watching!
Great video!
A very nice albino Lightning Whelk! Has really nice crown to it even, they don't get much nicer than that.
I am also surprised there wasn't huge shell piles. Granted a lot of it might be out in the surf. Also it seemed a lot of shells were partially buried, especially ones you got earlier in the video. The surf may have caused the sand to cover a lot over. Maybe once it calms down more can find some bigger things out a bit deeper!
I am certain those are both true Angel Wings. The key to telling them apart is looking at the reverse side and their size. Where a pair would join together where the hing would be, an Angel Wing the shell curls back slightly a false does not. While it is a bit hard to tell looking at them from a frontal perspective, I am noticing a bit of a curling appearance on the top edge. In addition False Angel Wings only get to slightly under 2 inches long. That is one of the few common shells I am still missing a hinged pair of, I hope to find one some day!
Thank for you for the Angel Wing info! I love learning about all the shells I find and there is so much to learn! I'll use the reverse curl trick in the future should I have a question about the type of shell it is.
The beach is funny - on days I don't think I'll find anything I end up finding great things and visa versa. I never know! You might be right and some of the shells were buried. As the weeks go by I guess I'll find out. Thank you for watching and I hope you find your hinged angel wings one day!
Everytime I go to the beach, I always say to myself "no more shells", but I never listen to myself.
The struggle is real! I am lucky I've only been doing this for a little over a year - I'm going to be in trouble one of these days real soon! Thank you for watching!
I've been to 3 different beaches in 3 days and already have a home depot bucket full🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’ve mentioned that you use some of your shells in projects. Could you do a short video showing some of those projects? Thanks.
Here is one of the videos of us making some shell boards (I've since given them away so I don't have them anymore): ua-cam.com/video/uun-TjQ5Wng/v-deo.html
I do have a project that I would like to make and it didn't occur to me to make a video about it - but now I will!

Something you may find of interest , I feel you like your birds too , you mentioned the ,spoonbill, .. we have had them nest here in UK 🇬🇧.. in suffolk, although not common, they are beginning to be seen most years , a bit like the little egret , we have thousands here now , and the great egret is also seen each year ... its the change in the weather and climate I feel .. I love the birds and do allot of wildlife photography
I do like the sea birds I see at the beach and those pink Spoonbills are so neat! We have some really weird looking wood storks too and tons of falcon and other birds of prey. I'm working on a video now and an osprey came pretty close. I was hoping s/he would actually grab a fish but he was just doing a fly by. Thanks for the info and thank you for watching!

Yes it sure is! I did an entire video dedicated to the Lightning Whelk: ua-cam.com/video/XaI8ihfgraA/v-deo.html
Hello from an overcast Minnesota
Hello Minnesota!
Absolutely love your videos! Thank you for sharing your adventures and your beautiful shells. I’ve always wanted to go to Sanibel so I’m taking a week off from work the week after Thanksgiving and heading down from Atlanta. How’s the shelling there in late November/early December?
From my experience, the shelling is much better in the winter months, so you should do just fine that time of year! I hope you have fun planning your trip and find lots of goodies when you come!
I was so sad yesterday. Found my first EVER lightning whelk but it was inhabited so I had to leave it. Right after that, though, I found my first ever Florida fighting conch. Was it karma? We will never know! LOL. I love watching your videos. They are so relaxing. Sometimes I see shelling cruises advertised but I'm wondering what your opinion is. Do you ever go on one? Are they more for new shellers or experienced ones?
Today I found a gorgeous tulip that was alive and I had to leave it too! Sorry you didn't get your lightning whelk, and I really hope you get it soon. Shell tour...I have only been on 1 so I'm in no way an expert. What I will say is that the tour will probably bring you somewhere that is only accessible by boat, and typically the boat captain will be knowledgeable about shells and critters. I think a tour would be okay for both novice and the experienced shellers. They are a bit pricey (hence the reason I've only been on 1) and I personally didn't find anything that I wouldn't find just walking the beaches I usually walk. I think it's a wonderful thing to treat yourself to though!
My dream job would be someone paying me to walk beaches and collect shells. Lol 🐚🐚🐚😍
Mine too! And I'm trying to make my dream a reality! Thanks so much for watching!
Cool finds! Your "frog" was actually a toad (you can tell by the bumpy drier skin as compared to slimy smooth frogs). Probably a southern toad because they are generally the most common toad in Florida, yours was probably too small to be a cane toad. Not exactly sure what your mystery angel wing is, but it is probably just a weird shaped regular angel wing, but not 100% sure. Keep up the good work!
There have been TONS of pollywogs in the fresh water near the beach so I assumed it was a frog - thank you for the clarification! Some of these shells are so hard to identify and I ALWAYS appreciate the identification assistance. Thank you for watching!!
I think you should do a video showing your collection thus far! and how you display them:))
You are in luck! That is on my list of things to do this week and I'll be sure to share the video! Thank you for watching!
Yayy!! so excited for that!!!
Would love to be there after a storm to find some neat shells
It is fun. The winter should bring more storms and goodies. Fingers crossed! Thank you for watching!
Did you put the albino under a black light?
I haven't. Think it will glow?
Have you thought of making another channel to teach crafting with shelves. That would be fantastic❤️!
Maybe one day when I have the time! Although. my husband should do it. He's better with the tools than I am - LOL!
4:20 That remnant is about half the size of a shark eye I found out on a sand bar on Sanibel a couple of years ago after a tornado touched down in Fort Myers. Completely intact, in absolutely pristine condition....with an occupant! Had no choice but to put 'er back. I still think of how amazing that one was. :-(
EEEK a tornado? Those shark eyes can get pretty big! I try to forget about the shells that the critters get to first. Although there is one true tulip that haunts me....Thank you for coming along with me on my trip!
@@SWFBeachLife Thank you for POSTING these! There are 2 things that are inexplicably enjoyable on UA-cam: watching Bob Ross paint, and watching someone else shelling. The next best thing to being there in person, scouring the beach.
@@dantheman5745 You are so very welcome. My two favorite things are scouring the beach and making videos!! I appreciate you watching!!!
Thank you 😊
I can’t help but wonder who checked thumbs down !
Haters are gonna hate 🤷♀️. Thank you for watching!!
At 9:11 in the video, there looked like there was some sea glass. Do you pick it up too?
I didn't! I wonder if it just looked like sea glass. I normally pick up that kind of thing, but down here it's usually something that needs to go in the recycling bucket!
I love all those urchins. I've never found one. Not one.
I never did either, until I got down here! There are so many things for me to learn about! Thank you for watching!
Weird to see the mangroves after watching more recent videos. That shark eye was huge! Too bad it was so beat up.
Yes, the beaches used to have a lot more green on them. But they are coming back!
Hello friend. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day for you. Awww... this is soo adorable🤝 👍💕support you as well! ❤️🦸♂️ You are welcome my dear friend!😊
Thank you for watching!
I wish I were there to get some shells for my crafts. I was hoping to move to Florida this year. 😔
I know the feeling. We waited three years! I hope you’re able to get here soon - if even for just a few days!
I have to ask. I read that the white sand dollars are dead but the dark ones are alive and to put in water. Can you explain how to tell if a dark sand dollar is alive or not. Not that I have ever found one. The couple I have were bought at a craft store. Definetly not the same . And I would like to get all different sizes. Thank you. Loved your video. But of course I always do.❤️!
The white sand dollars are most definitely dead but the dark ones can be dead too. You have to look at the surface of the critter. I did make a video about it - this should help clear things up for you!

I like the black, white and gray sunray Venus shell. I love finding those, and yours looks like it's wearing high end clothing. lol
LOL! Gucci colors for that high-end shell! Thank you for watching!
The shell you call " olive" is that what they are called?
When I was turning 15 my older sister and her husband had bought me a round trip ticket to Bradington, Florida where they lived. I was to spend the summer in Florida and I was so stoked! I am from New Mexico so I was ready for a change of scenery. I had collected some of those shells the olive ones and other types of shells for my sisters back at home in New Mexico. The problem was, my niece had collected the same kind of shells "olive" shells. A week later her room smelled horrible especially her dresser drawers. To my horror there where little creatures living Inside those shells! They where in a plastic ziplock bag that was closed and you could smell that horrible smell of death in the entire room! Those poor little shells creatures, I felt so bad and guilty, that I had taken them from their home. I was devastated. I didnt know that they had creatures that lived in them because no one said anything about it. I did show my adult sister and she said they where beautiful but didn't say anything else. I had not clue! So be careful everyone! Make sure it isnt some creatures home.
An honest mistake for sure! I try to encourage everyone checking their shells to make sure they are empty. Hermit crabs will sometimes "steal" the shells I'd like to collect too!!! Thanks for sharing your story and for watching my video!
Where in FL do u usuallyfindthe best shells 🐚? Do u ever find sea glass? I'm in Sebastian, FL now but lived in Wellington (West Palm Beach), FL for over 30yrs. My husband and I are looking to take our 5yr old son shelling somewhere awesome since he LOVES shells/Sea Glass 🌴☀️⛱🐚⚓🐟🐠
I find the best shells on Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel, and luckily they aren't that far away from each other. I have only found one piece of legitimate sea glass, the rest was glass that needed to be thrown away! I love Fort Myers Beach because not only will I find shells, I'll find lots of critters. Live sand dollars, urchins, live snails in their shells. If you're looking for shells, I would say you should check out Sanibel/Fort Myers Beach. The sea glass you might have to find elsewhere. Thank you for watching!!

@@staceysaunders6857 LOL! You're going to want to visit Fort Myers Beach. It's a long beach, so concentrate on mid to south of the island. We found tons of tiny shells mid-island yesterday!
