  • We made a pendant from obsidian wrapped in silver plated wire. Obsidian is solidified volcanic glass.
    The Process:
We started by chipping away at the obsidian using flint knapping techniques. Once we got a clean shape to use for the main piece, we the knapped a small heart into shape with some of the leftovers. We then took the wire and wrapped it around the piece making sure to wrap around all the sharp edges. We added a loop to attach the two pieces together and a loop for the chain. We opted to go with a pre-made black chain to compliment the obsidian. The pendant was hung on the chain to complete the necklace. We have provided links to some of the materials on Amazon below, as well as the pliers I use.

    Safety Notes:
Flint knapping is dangerous since you are chipping small pieces of glass away. If you do this, please wear eye and hand protection!
