- This is the MDP6 also known as MOBILE DRILL PLATFORM 6 WHEELED. A fairly large mobile drilling platform/rover for Space Engineers! I go over its looks, how to use it and how to deploy and use the drilling arm crane to make a nice hole through the earth.

Cool concept. Kinda seems like a lot of blocks for just being a surface skimmer, though.

Time passes so f-ing fast.
This vehicle is by far my favorite downloadable blueprint. It's functional for every biome. Not too fancy. It works great. Other than the fact it comes with 6 left wheels,
I like the idea behind the building but I had actually changed a little detail and it is the first part of the crane and put there a control station there instead of the bottom so you get an overview below you (Like in the video "Mars Lost Outpost" ) by the actual mining.
Omg, amazing showcase! Just the style of build I have been looking for to improve my drilling experience!
This is by far my favorite design in this game. I will definitely try and build this in survival

very cool video, thank you for showcase, just few author's notes:
-design is really what you want it to be, with that in mind, i placed second programmable block, in case somebody wanted to install MArmOS operated arm. Setting up manual control as showcased, is however, less time consuming, doesnt need programming degree and gets the job done. Also in the retrospective, gatling gun on the top was quick replacement for rotor turret, which would be coded by that empty programmable block, that again, is left to user to upgrade in survival, if he desires.
Connector in the top can be used for medium-sized mining drone/ship.Reason i dont use ejectors is I want to utilize resources from rock as well as from the vein you might be aiming for. If vein is deeper or sideways, dig out the rest with the mining ship, youll have plenty of room to manuever . The sorting system on platform sends rock into basic refinery and ore gets send into upgraded refinery with some extra buffer space so all the resources can be extracted properly. If something needs repair or you want to queue up components for building, installed assembler is there to help.
- and with 3 large containers full of refined metals, that thing isnt as speedy as you might think, so it needs plenty of power. And i like to get to places/scan for resources pretty fast
Yo your build is absolutely flawless in my eyes, perfect for looks and having that conveniently made crane! I might design a crane with that same drill head just for the fact it works and looks so well!

I am prone to uploading craft, before they are finished (and only realising that I missed stuff afterwards)and I don’t know how to fix it.
@@doomdave475 i actually own this game close to 2 months, and this was my first upload to workshop, so no,i dont know :D if i would, i would shorten those ladders and update it , it appears they are main cause of truck hitting the ground and JackRPG-ing it, appears the energy of hit is transfered to nearby blocks through that ladder

i have a bigger drill platform i built in survival and its super fuctional cause i actually used it for my campaign of earth to mars with only in game built ships i love the thing

Very nice build man. While I was browsing for ideas I also found a solution to trees by accident, cuz I know you probably ran into that problem. All you have to do is place a row of horizontal 1x1 suspensions (with wheel) on the front of the vehicle, midway up for ground clearance. I tested it out and it works great, glides through trees like butter with no problems and is a must have on large vehicles so you can go full speed between ore deposits.

Not really practical either.
What I mean is, the same amount of resources are much better spent elsewhere if you're looking for resources.
If you're looking for ore, a "mole" is the better option, if you're looking for just pure rock to melt down, a stationary platform with an auto extender is better. This one is trying to two jobs at once, and doing both worse for more resources than if you just built a mole and an auto extender platform.
But that shouldn't stop you from using it, after all, it's a game and the purpose is to have fun, not to maximize resource gain :P
@@beaconofwierd1883 With a ore detector though and better arm controls - it could be a really good mobile base with everything needed going along. A mole can't bring an assembler after all.
@@rustynailsoc3516 Sure it can, just build a larger mole ^^ Though there might be some point in keeping the processing above ground since moles have a tendency to get stuck or explode.

You said in the video we could just throw down a projector and print this, but there are subgrids. How do you print subgrids? (Genuine question)
As I learned building the last mobile drill he showcased, you have to paste it into creative and break apart the grids. Then copy each and then in survival, put a block on the end of the piston, or rotor, whatever is creating the new grid and attach another projector to that. Load each grid accordingly.
@@shraniken the only challenge there is not the design of these blocks, but settings and limits on them and to set them correctly. I've done some testing and going 0.005m/s per piston on arm drill was as fast as i could without crane turning into spaghetti in the hole. Also rotor, which is turning the drills should go fast enough so the pistons wont displace drill head too far ahead per rotation of drill head, and slow enough for drills to actually change terrain underneath as they pass by. Ideal speed was about 3 - 3.2 rotations/min
I'm currently building a more rudimentary version of this but my folding drill assembly keeps getting Clanged to death
How does the cockpit move with a gyroscope already on the rover?
This truck just seems over complex, why not let the bace refinery’s handle the ore? Also, do you really need a rotor at the bace of the drill tower?

My drill ship (weight 237482.00 kg) have 40 atmo thrusters and 18 gyroscope and not can't stable in air what can I do about that ?
2:45 For someone like me who likes fiddling with Programmable Blocks and connecting to my Hivemind it's helpful to have spare PBlocks.
Interesting mobile. I can see the arm being replaced with either a heavy cannon or a missile launcher system.

Hi guys, I'm new, I'm playing survival and I built this MDP 6 using the blueprint… But there's not the drill and I don't know how to copy it from creative mod. What scripts should I use to make this drill functional? Once the drill is made, are the shortcut Keys already done? Help me please

I feel like this would be better if the cockpit for the drill wasn't where it was and the and the main swing up was 1 0r 2 blocks higher then u could use it like to reach out or and where like like a bucket truck does
Never drill on the ground without locking your vehicle in place with at least one magnet plate. Parking will not work

too many resources for something meant to mine as many things off a planet as you can and leave it there. ... but you re welcome to turn it into anything you wish (to avoid too much damage to vital components, i placed decoy under the right stairs, but you better have fighter landed on the front deck for swift counterattack)

The drill is a subgrid so it probably doesn't show if you're welding it from a printer or in the projector

Oh boy the drill is bad build. There is a way to build a drill that goes 5 times as deep and has a wider whole without making it to much bigger. But the rest is good.
