Kind of would of been nice to see just how much resource you could get in one pass on a build like this, but definitely a good vid, Great job!
Finally got this thing built in survival... It works sometimes, explodes others. Seems in creative it's fine having the drill so flush with the rig, but in survival they'll bump and then it just cascades into failure.
Maybe use wheel as a cushion. They can take a little impact before damaging.
Jeez that thing was so much bigger on the inside than what it looked like from the outside.
I agree i was surprided when he was inside.
Going to the settings for the drills and going to "Share Inertia Tensors" or whatever it is helps prevent that wobbling and such.
But can glitch out the main grid
Or make it spontaniously explode.
That setting likes to summon clang
Ah yes the summoning of Clang you have set upon this world
Or just put 1 or 2 Gyroscopes on the dills and when you are ready to start, turn them on and set the override

Looks pretty nice.
In my honest opinion, as astonishingly well engineered that it is, that ramp seems a fair bit too steep for underpowered rovers. If I were the creator, I would have tried to replace it with a ramped elevator platform. One that comfortably fits inside the hangar like an open garage door, rotates downwards and towards the rear of the rig, extends to ground level, then deploys some small ramps, lifts the vehicle to the hangar, then fully retracts when the main door closes.
I love this game, almost like an adult Minecraft 😂
I've made my own pistons-run drill and eventually the pistons just keep getting damaged after 4-5 drills. It becomes tedious on larger drilling platforms where you have around 80+ pistons total and you have to find the needle in the haystack that keeps breaking.
Name drills in sets. Makes troubleshooting a bit easier

biggest issue is that when I load stuff in from the workshop like this to build in survival, the pistons and rotors never come in.

i am more interested in how well it moves when empty and well it moves after mining. i have several rigs for drilling and they all move great when empty, however after mining, many dont move at all and im forced to use a seperate cargo ship to move items in an out
I built it, it took me a few days, but I couldnt build the sub-grids. So it has no miner, and no ramp. Does anybody know a way around that?
It's similar to a rover i made a while ago. It was fun

i had an idea for a vehical like this but with the drill underneath that uses pistons to mine it. and for estetic you could add wings to make it look like a mosquito

the drill itself could be improved by having a side-stacked piston set which are much more stable but a lot less redundant.

part 1 2 and 3 in a 3 x 3 x 4 stack (stack height will always be 4 but you can expand sideways or add more stacks for more distance

Aesthetically pleasing.
But not very efficient.
For a mobile base build around the concept of mining, it is kind of bad at mining.
To be honest, this is best for deep mining as well as filtering. I would see about adding a mobile refinery either to it or as a secondary vehicle/base. At least, that is my take on it.

For some reason i keep thinking about scrapping the drill and using it as a carrier.
If I had this game, I'd definitely agree with you too. Except my drills would be in the front of the vehicle, spread out to form a triangle, and they'd all be connected to some sort of platform to help prevent the swaying and such. Also, the only other thing I think this needs is a more open cockpit view and made a litt smaller with more armor and extra storage and even maybe add a little more hydrogen engines or at least solar panels.
@@dragonscargames4808 actually I'd be removing the entire drill rig in order to make that a flight deck or a cluster of VTOL pads. the entire set up is rather bulky

I’d build a new drill and use the place where the old drill was as an area for Fighters and maybe an extended garage as well as supplies to make a base.

Mine is built using large blocks with 10-12 wheels with traction Max and power and strength and it refuses to move on nearly flat terrain with no ore. Even removed all the storage on it and still won't move 😭
Not survival friendly since sub-grids don't get projected :(
So go into creative, split the tower from the truck at the hinge, and then make a 2nd blueprint.

I was making a giant mobile mining rig and my imagination went through the roof and now I have a heavy af mobile base vehicle which I drove into an ice lake on earth and now I'm stuck because it cant move up a hill. Fully loaded it weights over 3000 K Ton and it was multiple days of work I don't want to go to waste, please help 😅😂

In here the rotor can carry that amount of blocks and piston, in my game it cant carry 8 pistons + a few blocks T_T
You can use gyros and trusters to support it.
Somebody needs to recreate GDI or NOD mobile base from CnC 3.

How does the drill work? I mean with the connection to the rest of the vehicle and such.
I'd assume in the drill arm in the armor where we can't see there's a conveyor tube going all the way up to the topmost drill, where it connects up.

Easy. The ramp extends out to connect to your base through the connector at it's end, it's on pistons.
He made the catwalk extended, then retracted it into the smaller space

I mean he is showing blocks that even had their own feature videos and got featured in pretty much most of the last 10 months on this channel.
My drill is better than your drill! The rover itself is much nicer but you should coil the drills, you can have more and it uses less space.

Be fun to play around with in sandbox but realistically this is a useless build. Would take way to long to build and take way to many resources.
