Squatters right are ridiculous. I ran into this in AZ in 2006. The US should prioritize the rights of law abiding citizens over that of law breakers. Thank you government for allowing a family to stay in my house, then make me pay for the damage inside and outside my house as I received fines from the HOA for the yard. Nothing like having no right to my property while simultaneously being responsible for that same property.

Ghost storm spin off... Keep with the idea of the squatter... What if the government of this universe has made a law that the ownership of a home is determined by the person who shelters in the home during a ghost storm. And to "protect the people" the law also states that by leaving your home during a ghost storm, you forfeit the ownership of your home to whoever is inside or (if left vacant) the government.
A family has prepared for the ghost storm as usual, but as the storm descends, the youngest hears noises in the attic. The family dismisses their fear. But the unknown squatter causes mischief that forces each member of the home to leave the house for the sake of those left inside. The dad goes first to close a shutter and never returns. Then a mom leans out to close a door that flung open and is swept away. And one by one the night goes on and the family dwindled down to just the squatter and the youngest.
If this is a comedy, then the youngest goes all "Home Alone" on the uninvited guest. Then they find out the ghost storms were a benign threat of the government to rule by fear. And the family members happened to disappear from view for plausible reasons.
Choose your own ending if you prefer Sci-fi, Space Operas, or Horror...

I'll be the old man in the discussion and say that the Star Wars franchise went straight down the toilet when Disney got their mouse-prints all over it. It wasn't perfect before that and the Nien Nunb character still makes me cringe, but Lucas didn't try to jam a leftist agenda down everyone's throats, or hire hack directors who threw garbage on the screen and called it "canon." For me, Star Wars will always be episodes 1-6. The rest is bantha poodoo.
What about the expanded universe that was legally authorized by and expanded on the 6 films of george lucas

Ghost Storm: The community is setting up for the storm and the 1st twist comes when ghost storm doesn’t happen. And everyone is confused and bewildered, and they begin to move on about 10 days later, the ghost storm arrives, but everyone is unprepared. 😯 The ghost defenses have either been taken down or put away completely! Unpredictable!
ANOTHER TWIST: The ghost storm is not the antagonistic evil force, but a member of the community, summoning the ghost storm! Maybe the spouse of the main character. 😮
