I just wanted to say that your video was really helpful when I was troubleshooting some issues with my facelift E46 front bumper. It turns out there was nothing holding the bumper to the metal crash bar behind on mine, but thanks to your video I know I need to replace some captive bolts and nuts. Cheers!!
Hello, I just purchased an 2004 e46 320D and I wonder if it will fit on my car, because it only says the i models, the question may be stupid I know but I just want be 100% sure. Great Video btw💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I honestly don't have any experience with an e46 D model alas we didn't get them in the US. I would imagine it should fit just fine, as body part mounting points should be the same.
@@MunkysGarageI rear ended the hitch of a truck ever so lightly and my bumper sit off now sorta in and pushed up in the fender side. Would this be the crash bar behind it bent?
I apologize. They can definitely be difficult. One of mine came off with little effort. The other I ended up having to drill out the little plastic rivets because they didn't want to come apart the way they were designed to.
@@MunkysGarage I took the plastic rivets out, but it seems that the clips where the headlight trim slots into is blocking it from sliding out. not sure what to do :/ I've snapped it in half trying to force it out and the other half just wont because it's being blocked
the mtech II bumper makes a huge difference in appearence but is not having the brake ducts really noticable? i want to do this to my '01 tour'r but was wondering about not having the ducts and fender liners to accept the ducts.
@@Darkaccent How so? The entire right side (driver side) of the M54 is easier to deal with. Easier to get at throttle body, CCV system, the MAF and Airbox are easier to remove, there is also no clutch fan on the M54 just the electric which is mounted behind the radiator instead of in the front like the M52 so you don't have to take off the whole front bumper to get at it. There many differences in the M54 that make it easier to work on. Please let the comments know how this is incorrect.
What was the original color of the bumper when you just got it? I looked at the product using the link in the description but couldn't tell if it was already painted, Titan Silver.
Hello, I have a question. Was it necessary to change the wheel arches to the M package and the air deflector so that such a bumper would fit? Or is just the bumper and sliders enough?
This one will not fit a 99. There are 2 different bumper bracket designs and with that 2 different Bumpers. You will need the kit from ecs that says it fits up to 09/2001.
How did the adjustments afterword end up working? I’ve heard you can adjust the bumper up/down using a 14mm that moves those mounting points but not sure if it’s true?
The mounts at the end are held in place with 10mm bolts. You can access them from under the headlights after the bumper is installed. You have to remove the trim below the headlights to get to them. As far as the bolts that hold the actual metal bumper in place. You can access those with the bumper off. And could technically adjust them up and then slide the bumper on and check its fitment and then adjust accordingly. I'm not sure you could access them with everything in place.
www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/m-tech-2-sedan-replica-bumper-conversion-front/e46-slash-4ftmtech~1/ That's the one you need. It should say from 9/2001 for you to be getting the correct one. You have a face-lift car, and the bumper mounts different on face-lift compared to pre face-lift.
Did that center trim piece come with the bumper? Even in the ECS link you provided it shows that it comes with a euro license plate frame bracket instead of a center piece of trim
It was already on the bumper when I got it(was previously a different color on another car). I don't believe it comes with the straight piece when you order it.
It is not "post facelift" the E46 came out, then they did the facelift version of it, therefore your car is the facelift version of the e46, not a post facelift.

Tons of information how to install or replace this Mtech II bumper. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Theres a black plastic gasket or trim that goes int he gap between the headlights and top of bumper which helps w that gap

If you leave the two big bolts in, and remove all the clips behind the bumper molding, you can remove the bumper without the crash bar lol
Yeah you're right. But I had to swap my crash bar cuz the old one was bent. So I figured I would show removing it so it covered all the bases.

Great video, easy to follow!
I’m really struggling to remove those fender brackets you forgot to hit record on…

@@MunkysGarage All these other videos they just slide out easy because they have different headlight trim slots to mine and yours which dont block it
Is yours a face-lift car like mine? Maybe it's different on prefacelift.

You can't tell the brake ducts are wrong from a distance. Only noticeable up close, like literally being right at it.
After 200 « Ammm » the bumper finaly install 🎉
Post face-lift e46 also has the M54 engine. Easier to maintenance than the older generation M52.

@@scottboyer8450 I'm not disagreeing the m54 is easier to work on. Both the m52 and m54 variations came in both pre and post facelift models.

Mine was originally green because it came off another car. The one I linked it painted in primer and will need to be painted the color of your car.

Bumper and mounting brackets are enough to get it on. I did not install the m sport brake ducts, which would have finished everything out.
