I love the spin they are taking on this. It's clever marketing and I respect it. 20% from age 0-54 means 80% is 54 and up but the former makes headlines, the latter sounds like "more of the same". Data remains consistent: In China, Italy and the USA. Now, I actually took the time to read the CDC data, which is unbiased and doesn't put the spin: www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6912e2.htm (it should have been linked in the description - any impartial reporting should include its sources but...).
Scroll to the bottom and do your own critical thinking. Hospitalizations do not mean intensive care. And most certainly do not imply death. Case fatality for those under 44 is still 0.2 (if you really crunch the data from above it means 1 death).
Stop spreading fear.
But please don't misinterpret this as "anyone under 44 shouldn't care".
Continue improving hygiene, don't cough/sneeze in the open, don't engage in contact with those at risk. Particularly if you are also young, you should act like everything you do is infecting someone or a place. If you have children, double it. Fear helps nothing (on the contrary, it crumbles the economy).
Also stop being partisan if you can. Both sides are wrong. Both sides get it right from time to time. It's okay to say "i don't know much about this" or "i am not an expert" or "i don't have a position, i'm mostly curious". Following something blindly will get us more news reports with spins like this.

To be honest the fact that only 12% are between 20 and 44 just means 44 to 54 is 26% of that 40% ratio they just made up. Which in response means that in that 12% you have no idea how many ages there are in there.
The issue was the belief that it didn't impact the young; then, that it didn't impact the young as much. Florida's Spring Break had young people from all over the country ignoring the facts, and partying hearty, and then returning home all over the country. Five have been diagnosed with the infection. It will be more. And because they refuse to listen, they will spread it to others.

Visual Death you need to rewatch the video. The news here is painting an inappropriate image of the situation. People with *underlying conditions* are the one’s who are getting hospitalized. Looking at the percentages this is most likely the case that the people hit the hardest are the people with asthma, other breathing problems, or immunity problems.
Typical news to spread the older message that “oh the young generation is stupid and irresponsible” isn’t new and it’s the only thing that makes baby boomers happy to do apparently towards millennials and downward.

Also not to mention, the shortage in test kits in the USA, healthcare workers aren't able to test everyone with symptoms. So most people with mild symptoms are told to treat at home and only come in if it gets more severe than they're able to manage on their own. So most of the young people with the virus probably aren't even being tested.

Keep in mind i was 19 last year and a college athlete with no health problems. The coughing was god awful and I ended up getting my roomate sick and we were both struggling.
