How wildlife trade is linked to coronavirus

- And why the disease first appeared in China.
NOTE: As our expert Peter Li points out in the video, “The majority of the people in China do not eat wildlife animals. Those people who consume these wildlife animals are the rich and the powerful -a small minority.” This video explains how the people of China are themselves victims of the conditions that led to coronavirus. The virus is affecting many different countries and cultures, and there is never justification for xenophobia or racism.

As of early March 2020, a new coronavirus, called COVID-19, is in more than 70 countries and has killed more than 3,100 people, the vast majority in China. That's where the virus emerged back in December 2019. This isn't a new phenomenon for China; in 2003, the SARS virus also emerged there, and under similar circumstances, before spreading around the world and killing nearly 800.
Both SARS and COVID-19 are in the "coronavirus" family, and both appear to have emerged from animals in China's notorious wildlife markets. Experts had long predicted that these markets, known to be potential sources of disease, would enable another outbreak. The markets, and the wildlife trade that supports them, are the underlying problem of these pandemics; until China solves that problem, more are likely to emerge.

Not only is this causing diseases it’s also killing endangered species
And why would that be a big issue at this time? I like animals too but I'm a little more worried about humans.
some species actually helped the enviroment, China is killing them making the enviroment worse and worse, making their enviroment nasty and well... just bad. Technically, its the humans fault the virus are spreading, its their fault to begin with. @@shally6228 actually interesting ly enough 7% of human DNA has viral footprinting meaning at some point in the human race at some point in our history virus has infected us but didn't hurt us as many viruses don't actually heard us or do anything massively horrible to us. But they infected us and instead of taking over our DNA they became part of it at some point. How fascinating and amazing is that 7% is a large amount and for all of the human race to have this means that it's been happening over Millennia that humans have been evolving and developing before we had any kind of written language in before any of the things that we know anything about. The strain of coronavirus which is found in bats can not infect humans. It can not stick to our cells. So it had to mutate in order to infect humans. And this particular strain of coronavirus (covid19) is showing a remarkable rate of mutation. Bats>> pangolins >> Humans >> and now a positive case in a dog. Plus now we have two strains of covid19 infecting humans. And all of this happened in a matter of a few months. Covid19 is a wakeup call for humanity. We have to change our lifestyles. IT IS NOT RACIST TO POINT OUT DANGEROUSNESS IN CHINA'S WILDLIFE EATING HABITS.
"Habits" is the wrong word here. They said in the video (that u pretend to have watched) that only the "rich and powerful" eat wildlife animals. Therefore it is racist to say China's wildlife rating habits is dangerous. Since it's untrue for most of the population (since they don't eat it). Tottaly agree on the part of wildlife eating beeing dangerous tho. It just doesn't seem to be a problem caused by the average Chinese person (I'm basing this statement on the information provided in this video)
manuel, not the meaning of racist but ok
They just don't eat them they also use them for medicine because they believe certain exotic animal parts cure illnesses (traditional Chinese medicine). Which is as dangerous as consuming exotic animals as food.

Paul Kaunda you’re not in Texas, are you ?
And did you get coronavirus
😢
Markets like that are pretty much self regulating, if you sell rotten food and follow no hygiene then people will get sick and not buy from you so you have to close. The issue is the meat/animals they are butchering. They are not bred for eating, they are wild and by western standards unusual animals. That is why unusual and new diseases come from places like China and Africa. Western food production for all its failures does produce alot of food that is safe for us to eat and its only when we do things like feeding cows to other cows to make food cheaper that we encounter problems like mad cow disease (vcjd)

You can't, if your sane.

probably for their bear bile which some people stupidly believe could cure cancer, cold, etc. In fact bear bile can only help dissolve gallstones and treat liver disease

If after this pandemic people around the world do not yet understand the true meaning of how our reckless, poor decisions can potentially affect LITERALLY everyone around us...we're doomed.
I agree, bring manufacturing back or move it to a country that actually has regulations. Restrict travel to and from China during flu season, every year. Make China pay for any future diseases that come from their people. Be a nice place to start since the last 3 terrible viruses have originated in China.
@@extraordinarilybasic3250 "bring manufacturing back or move it to a country that actually has regulations."
Regulations? That's called Communistic in America. That's why Trump got elected. Because those people want less regulations. Also, the Dems are under the thumb of the corporations who want less regulations as well. A lose-lose situation.
We're Doomed.
This is restricted to China and its irresponsible government. This isn't happening all around the world.
I asked someone why they don't just stop selling bats for example, apparently the government have tried but too much money in it so itll only appear in the black market anyway. Also the chinese government have been telling them that the virus came from the Americans. They live in a delusional bubble.
Watching this 3 years after initial lockdown, millions of deaths and countless other consequences……..
This is a video that every human being MUST see.
It’s very informative and neutral. It makes you learn that it is the Chinese government whose horrible way of handling its population has led to these repeated outbreaks. It is not the Chinese people who are responsible for this. It is their unfortunate government.
Sending good vibes to all those Chinese people who are concerned with banning these markets and making progress towards a more human society.
Would LOVE to see an updated version of this video
I've been really wondering who are the actual animals here, the ones in the cages? Or the people that are encouraging this kind of industry?
i mean this is everywhere in the world. Mass production animal farms that are supposedly more technologically advanced than these farms still treat their animals like commodities... because the system we live in makes it so.
everyone is an animal. we just so happen to be aware enough to exploit and capitalise on everything around us... including ourselves
Yea. Poor poor animals... things like this just scare me
Both
we have the same thing here in the us with non-wildlife animals. Difference is china has it more out in the open for ppl to see. Non-agriculture ppl in developed countries is rarely exposed to the harsh reality of how chickens / pigs / etc are raised and slaughtered in inhumane ways (unnecessary torture and terrible living conditions) by factory farms for companies like Mcdonalds, Costco, and tyson foods. Activists that tried to expose their cruelty have been sued and threatened with huge fines and decades of jail time.
I knew that China had a horrific track record on the treatment of animals but this is horrific.
Fully agree, but our western industrial factory farms and slaughter houses are torture chambers too. Look up undercover footage.
agree! 😡
They belive that torture makes the animals taste better
I agreed
I’m so sad . This is terrible. Poor animals. No rights abuse slaughter.

The people that had those bears in those tiny cages should be feed to those same bears. So basically the rich people's needs led to this.
Billions of pigs and cows are in tiny cages where they can't move just so people can eat meat... but people dont care for some reason.

DarkSamuraiHD we do the same with pigs cattle chickens exactly the same go to a modern farm
Wuhan military games. Held just before the outbreak. America the most powerful military scored 35th, below small Nations like Finland. They were also housed near the market. This virus was also misdiagnosed as H1N1 early on in the US according to the CDC. All strains of the virus are found in only one country, the US.
The US assassinated an Iranian general without cause. They do horrible testing over the years AND know more about viral outbreaks than any other nations.
